By produce I mean copy the film to the actual dvd that you buy. Anyone knows if they are or where they are usually made? [Link] |

It is a requirement for discs sold here in the US to have a plant ID code on the inner edge, but often it is just their initials, not the full name of their plant. With Christmas orders from mainstream starting to go into production very soon, many plants are taking new orders on a limited basis right now, so we have opened up our business to a couple additional replicators, as most plants consider adult business second priority to mainstream. The good news is that some of the plants that last year told me that they didn't accept porn business at all, no longer say that. I still hear from some companies that they have been told by Disney that if they accept porn business, they will lose Disney's orders. [Link] |
| Alan Smithee Member CA 17 Posts 5/00 | Posted - Aug 14 2001 : 6:22PM Technicolor presses most of Di$ney's DVDs and I've never seen a porn DVD from them. I guess one of their concerns is that a disc could get the wrong label stamped on it, which has happened a few times already- Di$ney's overpriced "Pinocchio" DVD actually had "Prince of Egypt" on some of the discs, and I've heard that copies of Warner's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" wound up with Penthouse videos on them, which isn't far-fetched since Warner presses discs for Image who distributes the Penthouse discs. Di$ney already had a problem with their own stuff getting mixed-up- "Toy Story 2" was a dual-layer disc, and some discs ended up getting layer 2 of "High Fidelity" stamped in by mistake and the layer started with a fair amount of profanity, so in the middle of this G-rated movie people had it suddenly switch to Jack Black saying the F-word ;) [Link] |

I wonder if there's a DVD equivalent of the site I linked to, because I'd love to know who's perpetrating these crimes against technology. It's now over four years since the format was launched and yet I still find the technical quality of most porn DVDs to be unacceptable. [Link] |
