Since this is a website dedicated to discussing and promoting porn,I thought we would see more participation from pornstars,directors and producers.There are some who do participate but the number is quite low compared to a number of active listed stars. Some fans go even to an extent of starting an appreciation thread which in my opinion deserves some recognition and appreciation from a mentioned star.After all,these are their fans and now and then it does'nt hurt to drop a couple of comments and updates. I must say that there are some who have time for their fans.Boobi Starr,Phoenix Marie,Jay Sin,Mindee,LT,Dgg,Nyomi Banxxx,Kelly Divine,Dana Dearmond,Katja Kassin,Kristina Rose and a couple more others. The point that I am making is that with more participation from Industry players,this forum will be much more vibrant and bigger. Edited by - Dark143 on Apr 14 2011
I think there are a few reasons for the low industry participation rate. 1. Lack of computer skills. Many porn stars come from poor education backgrounds (not all) and since the poorer schools (especially in the deep South -- Mississippi and Alabama come to mind) can't even afford computers for student use, so these people don't have a chance to learn how to use one. This also is why many of the non-participants haven't ever had a computer in their home before entering porn -- they could not afford one. Some porn stars do not even have a high-school diploma (thankfully they are in the minority). 2. The non-participants may not know we exist. 3. Privacy reasons, they may be afraid of giving out too much information. 4. Non-interest. There are some porn stars I am sure (no names please) that consider their jobs "workaday". That means they do it for the paycheck and not to make their fans happy. These people tend to be a flash in the pan and disappear quickly.

I dont think it's a case of they dont have time for their fans, more a case of they dont have time. Alot of stars speak to there fans in other ways such as twitter, facebook, email and blogs on their own websites. You can't really expect them to be everywhere.
Dark, Welcome to ADT. This forum is a community built on contributions (posts/comments) shared with the group. Everyone has their own reason for adding to the community and I can understand your interest to see more contributions from those in the industry you're looking to follow and learn from. It looks like you joined last month and have posted 16 times. I'd suggest there's lots more here than you can see in such a short time. You share in the responsibility to contribute to this community. Those that are only here to take and not contribute aren't supporting the community. I don't need to defend the industry participation or lack of participation, but I do think we each need to look at our own contributions first and then look for ways to encourage the type of participation from others we'd like to see added to this community to make it all it can be. You can help with your part. How can you add to our community? Rod
A lot of them use Twitter or the other social networking sites as their main source for fan interaction, probably a good deal of them consider that enough.

Valid points I agree and it's not a question of expecting them to be everywhere,it's a matter of acknowledging some of their fans on this forum now and then.A few times a month is not unreasonable.Besides porn falls under the entertainment industry which means fans are part of the equation. BTW,ADT is more of a community of various fans and stars.This means people who were not aware of certain stars or movies get to learn about them here.This can broaden their fan base. I am not insisting that they post here,I am just saying their frequent participation will add another dimension to this site and help it grow bigger.It is their industry after all. Jenna Jameson used to post here, right up until her and Jay broke up. She posted faithfully. Teagan used to post quite a bit as did Lela Starr. Sophia Rossi, Tori Black, Hillary Scott, even Julia Ann were regular posters at one time. The DVD business is fading. I don't think it's as bad as the OP makes it out to be. When I sort the member list by stars I see 113 performers who have participated here this year. Likewise, this forum has heavy director/studio participation. Just this year -- Porno Dan, Billy Watson, Tim Von Swine, Jules Jordan, Chris Streams, Mike Quasar, Justice Young, Tricia Devereaux, Stormy Daniels, Jay Sin, Mason, Van Styles, Kevin Moore, Gary Orona, Jake Malone, Jenna Haze, Jonni Darkko, Brandon Iron, Nica Noelle, Ivan, Erik Everhard, Mark Wood, Nevaquit and others. Mark Spiegler is here as well and encourages his girls to spend time with us. I hate to forget others like pornlaw and hollywoodwoody. Grade A assholes have run some of the talent away. Some choose to participate on other forums such as FreeOnes. As someone already pointed out, twitter is now the main social vehicle for talent. Some performers choose to spend their time with paying members of their websites. Others choose to spend their time on cam sites where it makes them money. Be thankful for what we have and show some appreciation to those who give us their time.
For whatever its worth I always encourage my clients to post on this Forum as well as others like it. Several have indeed started posting here in 2011. Twitter is great but you cant get too much across in 140 characters.... Does ADT even have a Twitter account ? If not it might be a good way to let the performers know about this site.
It's a tough room for directors and producers. Other that a few notable exceptions who have good rapport with their ADT fanboys/fangirls, many directors/producers have cultivated tons of pissed-off, dissatisfied, and disgruntled viewers, directly and indirectly.

Many of the performer-specific threads are dominated by posters who basically have nothing interesting to say or ask, and just repetitively beg/wheedle/demand that the performer do whatever circus act he's obsessed with. And they go from thread to thread to thread, doing the same thing. It's no wonder to me that a lot of the performers don't participate, or barely participate.
Part of the problem is that there's just so freaking much to keep track of. Twitter, a billion porn-centric social networks, non-porn social networks, email, webcam communities, and there are a lot of other message boards as well. ADT was always my favorite message board though, because it's well moderated and the fans here actually have something to say most of the time. Porn in my life before I started modeling was about exploring healthy sexual urges and fantasies. In my short porn career, it was encouraging to talk to like minded fans. Though I'm mostly "retired", I still watch porn (Still love Kink.com!) and I check up here and on Twitter from time to time. I think that the problem, really, is that boards like this are kind of old school compared to Twitter or Facebook. For example, most of the Chicago based Burning Angel girls use Twitter and Facebook instead. It's less about education (as mharris suggests) and just generation preferences for mobile technologies... IMHO

No doubt, twitter is the in thing right now.It is instantaneous,mobile and up to the minute.ADT could be more like a melting pot where different players from different sites and companies can come under one umbrella porn site. You can even promote your website free of charge by the way.Which is another plus.

Nope. Hate Twitter. Can't wait 'till it goes away. Some members here do post on Twitter and make the effort to get performers to participate here. Thanks to those members. Sometimes all it takes is an email to your favorite performer inviting her to join. We have great industry participation. Yes, some are driven off by obnoxious posters. But in general the ones who participate are fantastic about keeping us informed... and in many cases entertained. edit to add this example... Mike John just posted: "Awards are given out for many different things in this world,Darts,cooking chili,the super bowl,ect..but I think getting an award for fucking while holding a camera has to be the coolest one of all.Thanks XRCO I am honored." Ever since it's become popular they all moved there. I suppose it's more convenient and is reaching greater masses than a forum. Those of us who have been here for some time must've noticed this. We used to have pornstar regulars. I mean girls didn't only post in their own threads, they were participating in general porn discussions as well. Not so much any more.

Because they get chased off with the repetitive questions of when they are doing black guys, anal, and black guy anal? Then you get a director telling us about his latest masterpiece, (in his opinion that is), and doesn't seem to like anyone not agreeing that its a masterpiece. Those are the reasons why not a lot of performers show up here.

Twitter has had an effect and I can't blame anyone for not wanting to look at a bunch of negative comments about themselves, it's enough to ruin anyone's day.
I really think the whole "social networking" buzzword & thing generates a lot of excitement where there really isn't any substance. These things are generally a waste of time and accomplish little. They are not the best places to interact with a diverse audience such as in the powerful forum format. I believe in the right tool for the job. Facebook is a tool and so is this forum. I do not wish to read one way brief tweets where one person gets more of a soapbox than everyone else. Same thing for FB. The forum format is the great equalizer and allows for us to post photos, do research, post links, talk to the diverse audience and have meaningful discussion where we're all on the same level. It's pretty sad when some people seem so eager to abandon this quality in favour of brief one way comments that favour the sender.
