No placeholders or any indication that anything was ever there. The files still appear to be in our profile images folder. BUT, if you try to view them, you get the following error message: "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." [Link]

I don't know what's going on with it since I haven't made any changes to that code in a long time. I suspect some recent server software updates must be causing some conflict to happen and the whole process just crashes in an unrecoverable state. I'm working on it. [Link]

Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99	Posted - Sep 11 2014 : 5:31PM There are 16 server processes that send the images over the wire. They restart every 10 minutes on a rotating basis. So you might notice a brief down time during a recycle phase. Process recycling downtime should only last 5 to 10 seconds. This is a total band-aid approach. I should rewrite the whole process. There are far better ways to accomplish things these days. [Link]

Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99	Posted - Mar 7 2015 : 6:54PM I've been monitoring this periodically. Seems to be doing better than ever. The new caching process uses much less memory and processor time so I pumped up the number of image-service processes to 16. So the forum code should now be able to service about 1024 simultaneous image requests. [Link]
