Just remembering how years ago, many performers posted on this board in various threads across various topics. This board provided a major platform for performers and fans to communicate with each other. Now, it seems like performers rarely ever post and when they do, it's almost always just in threads specifically about them such as in the "Star-Crossed" forum. That is their right to post or not post here, though I'm just wondering what happened. Can it be that as social media expanded, there are more platforms where they can post and communicate with fans and this board isn't such a centralized location anymore? It seems like the moderators are still very welcoming toward performers.
^ I guess the new performers grew up in a time where forums were already a thing of the past. Everthing gets centralized and concentrated. Where in the early 2000's you had specific forums on different websites for each topic (and even earlier, usenet/newsgroups), now everything flocks to facebook/reddit/stackoverflow. (and the other various social media outlets). Forums, to put it mildly, are a thing of the past, and all that remain here are us old guys.
It would be very interesting to see the average age of the users of ADT now vs. 10 years ago vs 20 years ago.

I'll be real, I believe some folks on here have scared them off but I do know Casey Calvert always pops on here and lurks on threads. Mostly her own and the All Things Lesbian thread.
That's correct - the performers can reach more people on Twitter or some other social media.
But I think that's it where it ends. Consumers need some common place to discuss and share thoughts and that's where ADT comes in. You cannot discuss / criticize the site at that site because there's the chance of it being removed. If you watch porn more than the average consumer, then I don't think you wouldn't know about ADT.
I'm a statistic- 720p was pretty normal when I started.
definitely. people on forums are the ones who were used to it. performers also care about making money, they don't actually care about the consumers if they can't turn them into $$$. way better platforms to do that like youtube, x, OF, reddit (also dying but slower than forums).
Not sure I'd say this site is dying. Viewers still very actively post on it but like somebody said, this is likely mostly middle-age or older viewers. It will be interesting to see how active this site is decades from now or if it's still around. There's a cam performers' forum site I post on that's still very active.
Of course is dying. The name of this forum is adultDVDtalk, DVD is dying so the forum dies too. Porn stars websites dies too, OF takes all while TW, Instagram replace forums. Forums like this one are a vintage thing now but I love vintage things.
^ The problem with Instagram, Twitter etc. though is: Joanna Angel might make a post and 700k people see it. But those 700k people are the ones following her. Here I can go to the Star Crossed and Porn Pool forum and see what's new, without having to follow each actor individually.
But since apparently now you have to pick and choose which actress to follow (and subscribe to her onlyfans), I guess that's the basic idea now. You don't consume porn as a pre-produced form of entertainment, but rather porn is now tied to the (imagined) individual service you get at a strip club, where you pay over the roof for (relatively) little substance.

That can explain why this forum is predominately fans and performers have dispersed largely to their Only Fans or other social media pages. The forum platform here may work better for fans while other types mentioned may suit performers better.
A big difference between the dying audience here and the 750k followers of 'Performer X' is that the older/middle-aged porn consumer participating here likely doesn't assume that the internet exists to provide an endless stream of free porn.
10 million visits per month is hardly on death's door step. But other sites get that traffic in a day, or faster
This forum, like other forums, still offers a huge and categorized data base that makes it still very valuable for members and guests. As long as Drew and his team keep up their great work, this forum will continue to find users despite OF, tube sites and everything else that has affected porn consumption during the last decade.
But of course it's sad that performers rarely post here.
In terms of the suggestion to change the name, it may be in the best interest of this forum to keep the same name because of recognition and legacy- even though DVD is in the title and the era of DVD dominance is over. However, that's the moderators' decision. I see how the forum still appeals to fans since it's like a one-stop shop where they can interact online, post on so many topics (or just read), find out about the latest videos and events, do searches and locate videos, etc.
This site is an offshoot of the studio porn world. Studio porn is in decline. There is simply less to discuss around here than there was 5/10 years ago.

This is always used here as a threat for bans, but I think that's nonsense. ADT is probably the tamest discussion forum I have ever experienced. ADT was used by the girls as a self-promotion platform at the time. When they realized that platforms like Twitter/X or Insta have a hundred times greater reach than ADT, they all disappeared. Of course, the girls also read something they didn't like. But they read these things countless times a day on their own channels. So that was never the reason they disappeared. ADT simply no longer has any value for them and so they have moved on.

^ Agreed. Though there can be people behaving like jerks on any site, I enjoy posting on here and find it mostly cordial and respectful between performers and viewers. However, I cannot speak for everybody.

Building on what people are saying, the lower participation of performers on this board now than about 20 years ago can be because many performers from back then are no longer in the biz or if they are, are no longer doing studio-produced porn and have moved more toward sites like Only Fans or live webcamming. Sure, there are exceptions. The newer generation of performers rarely post on here for reasons mentioned. They're from an era where personal social media pages are more widespread as are sites where they can post their own content.

Certainly. Even athletes, actors or singers turn their backs on certain media if they are targeted too often. In this case, however, it is almost the entire industry. But that's Zeitgeist. What used to be forums became reddit, then Discord...and probably platforms I've never heard of.
