But www.dvdworldusa.com and www.erodvd.nl both charge about £20-25 each title. At the Lazers Edge and Five star they only cost about $20-25 which seems much cheaper.
Have anybody from the UK ordered from Five star or Lazer's Edge? With the shipping costs does it work out much cheaper than the two mentioned sites? I was thinking of ordering about 5 DVD's.
Anna erodvd.nl sell private disc's at EURO 19.95 which is around £12.50 Red light district are EURO 22.50 which is £14.00. The most expensive i could find are the Inflagranti disc's at EURO 39.95 (25.00)
I like Laseredge and Gamelink very much. Laseredge because of the $1.99 shipping and Gamelink because it's free shipping if you order for $150 or more and you get bonus points.
Erodvd.nl is also very good but they don't have a lot in stock I have noticed. A lot of movies are sold out.
Ramsey What are the prices of DVD's in sex shops in Holland. I haven't been to Holland for 5 years and DVD's weren't as widespread as they are now , if at all. As you are buying from Laseredge and Gamelink I would imagine they are far more expensive in the sex shops.Last year a couple of friends of mine went to Amsterdam and I gave them a list of DVD's , but they came back saying they were to expensive
Anna, Mike at DVDADVANTAGE.COM Reliable, fast and very responsive. If you are ordering 5 discs he currently has a 20% Off code. Erodvd ARE also very good as suggested above.
One word of advice though. Order from a company thats cost effective and 'IMPORT FRIENDLY' Not the dealers whos discs initially look cheaper but end up being 40% more expensive with the duty and VAT etc. You can check earlier threads to find out who does this and why. Happy Shopping.
Hi Anna, lots of good advice there and I hope that gets you started. You might also want to check out the Adult DVD Store Directory for detailed information on the affiliated stores, and Saki has written a nice buyers' guide that is worth reading too.
Laser's Edge are really excellent, it might get boring but I always recommend them. They make it easy to get your goods into the UK without a hitch - FiveStar are good but they won't bend the rules on the customs declaration so their good prices can cost more in the end if you're charged import duty.
Anna, Gabriel Nine has highlighted an important point about duty charges. Some companies will declare the full value of goods on the Customs Declaration form and you would be liable for duty charges on anything with a value over £18.
Lasersedge always come out as a first choice for me also because they are: Fairly priced. Customs friendly. Low shipping costs. At $2/order you can afford to order single titles and there are not many stores Stateside you can do that.
So if i ordered 5 DVD's from fivestar for say $100 how much would i end up paying after these duty charges. Lazersedge sounds really good but they dont have Teen Patrol 2 and fivestar do.
Anna, Here's an example of Duty and Vat charges. These are typical charges and if anybody is thinking of using FedEx they will add their own handling charge on top to rub salt into your wounds. Be warned.
It may be worth dropping a mail to Fivestar to see if their policy has changed regarding the declared value on the package.
The DVD's in Amsterdam (especially in the red light district) are way way too expensive, like double or triple the price compared to online stores. I can't find the movies I want in stores here in Holland and they're more expensive than buying them online if I find them. Buttman movies for example are like 50 euro in most sex shops. Not sure about Fivestar but with Laser Edge you got the box included.
Lasers Edge certainly don't send the boxes (well, not on any of my orders) just the discs and sleeves. They are wrapped up inside a jiffy bag. I've never had a problem with damaged discs if that's what you're worried about.
Also, the packaging is discreet and has a customs declaration saying CD media or something, with a low $ value. I've never had to pay import charges, unlike with some other US outfits.
Don't know about Fivestar, as I've never ordered from them.
I think you'll find that Lasers Edge are pretty hard to fault as far as UK customers are concerned!
Lazers Edge certainly sounds the best place to order from. I would prefer not to get the boxes, it is much easier to ship without them and the package will be much smaller. So importing porn from the US is ok then, it wont get confiscated at customs or anything like that.
You should be OK as long as you import porn that would be legal in this country (i.e. it would obtain an R18 rating from the BBFC). The criteria for this certificate are available on their website. Material outwith these guidlines (for example, but not restricted to, urination, defecation, fisting, serious BDSM, non-consensual sex etc) may well be seized. There's info on the customs website about this too.
Now yer asking! I won't pretend I have a definitive answer - it will be purely guesswork, as I don't order gangbang flicks. I presume it should be OK as long as we're talking consensual action, but I have no actual evidence to go on.
Maybe some readers who actually order movies of this ilk will be able to give a proper answer!
Hey Anna I think your Gangbang titles will be okay. I've got quite a few of those sort from Lasers Edge/Five Star (shipped with boxes from both companies), none have yet been opened by customs. The BBFC incidentally have cut a couple of Anabolic's Gang Bang Girl series - all due down to treating the girl a little too rough - hair pull, asphyxiation etc.. but some have been passed uncut (R18)
I just noticed Five Star dvd have a few of the Gangbang Slut series for $10 each.. a bargin.
I would imagine most "normal" gangbang films will be OK. I've never had any packages opened by customs ever, but it seems that sticking to what would get an R18 is a good guide to keeping out of trouble.
I remembered now: when you place an order with Lasers Edge, they provide a little box you can type in any special comments or requests. I always write "no boxes please, just discs and covers" and they seem to respect this. They probably ship boxes unless you ask them not to, as Ramsey noted.
Just thought I would chime in with a clarification on the BOX/NO BOX issue. We ALWAYS send with boxes unless otherwise requested by our customers.
You can request NO BOXES at the time of CHECKOUT, we have a "Shipping Comments" section for you to give us any special instructions you may have. We only ask that you put the "Special Instructions" on every order.
