I see ntfighter's point. Gonzo offers little in the way of fantasy potential in the area that I like to explore. These areas include scenes which provide some avenue, and time, for a fantasy to develop and add spice to the scene. I really like it when a scene takes an unexpected diversion, especially when it skews into the area of my fantasy! Personally, I really get off on films/scenes where there is room to add elements of fantasy. "The Mark of Zara" for example is a great fantasy film. The action is real and very hot, but there is still room to cook up a hot fantasy or two. Scenes where only a person's genitals are seen being manipulated, and not their face, adds a great element of fantasy for me. You're not likely to see something like that with gonzo. For me, fantasy, erotica and from the heart sex all combine to provide the hottest scenes. That's why I always say... "Fantasy Will Set You Free!" Loosely
In theory I quite like the idea of fantasies being built up slowly through the storytelling possible in a feature. Unfortunately, the combination of bad acting and worse writing kills that potential in most of the erotic movies I've seen. Like many other people I end up fast forwarding to the good bits... If I want porn that's more cerebral than gonzo fucking then I'll read some well written erotic stories.
I do like a little intro to my scenes but full fledged storylines make me look at my watch waiting for the action. The trick is to try to lessen the repetition to the build up before the action stuff like my friends hot mom gets old fast as the hundreth guy walks into his friends house to be seduced my his pals mother in the same way as the last, you have to vary that set up to include new locations, ways the mother gets to the point she wants to get down ect.
You're confusing film-making with general smut... It takes a degree of talent. desire, skill, and unfortunately money to 'produce' what you ask. I side with you. Good porn is not just about some woman getting laid or some guy getting blown. Good porn pulls you into the moment of what you are viweing and holds you there. Its a lost art for sure.
I think the key to good porn is good chemistry, where everyone looks like they're really getting off. If there's killer chemistry and it looks authentic then I could care less whether there's a storyline. I often find that what could be good porn is ruined by *way* too much posing for the camera, way too much concern about how they look rather than what they're doing. Erotica is best for a storyline, otherwise it tends to be seriously cheesy.

The fantasy is that the director thinks he is directing a movie when he is actually just directing people fucking.
But how often do you see REAL apparent chemistry between a B/G couple on screen? it is becoming a lost part of porn imo but we know how rare it is in real life it must be close to impossible in a business where some women and men dont know who they will have sex with until they turn up on set. yeah I know, it's tough to get chemistry or to fabricate it. I think at the very least they should both look like they're enjoying it, which I find is not the case in a lot of porn. I guess that's why I prefer G/G or B/B if you get the right performers they seem more into it and it seems less routine than most B/G. Not to mention dirtier and more taboo.
It's annoying, but at least there's the fucking to distract me from the bad acting. If it get's too bad there's always the mute button.
