Just wondering if he's signed on with another company or what. I saw the stuff he shot for RLD and have to say I didn't like it at all. But now that he's left RLD, I'd like to see a return to the Lex The Impaler series over at Evil Angel, or the Heavy Metal series at Rosebud. Both of those series smoked anything he ever did at Anabolic/Diabolic or RLD. Just wondering if these series will now continue, or will he end up over at West Coast boning fat ugly chicks like most of their movies have nowadays (I guess you can tell I'm not a fan).
Hmm, I recall someone mentioning he might take his show to a creator-owned company distributed under the Evil Angel banner, but I believe this was merely rumour, although it seems a sensible option. Problem with Lex's directed stuff is I don't think he has a canny eye for the right camera angles ala Mike John or even a newer director like Manuel Ferrara. Lex seemed to be at his best IMHO when shooting for others.
I do think this transitional porn unemployment of his can't be allowed to go on too long, for his career's sake. Seeing all these Lex compilations coming out from Anabolic and others is reminding me of what I didn't like about his performances rather than what I did. He did have some magic moments, but they seemed to be isolated to Lex the Impaler and the odd Anabolic scene. Even then, I never felt he peaked or really slam dunked one.
My favourite Lex scene is from Private's THE ACADEMY and I think whatever he does set up next should accomodate for the darker set piece fuck with girls in hot costumes and atmospheric lighting, rather than gonzo mania, because frankly others like Justin Slayer are doing that too well (while others like Jack Napier and Marcus are doing it too much). I want Lex to succeed because I still am a fan, although he can't just extrapolate from what he did at RLD - he needs to rethink his role as director, and come back with something newer and exciting. If he does that, I'll be mighty proud to be a fan of his work.
Not sure which movies you have seen of WCP but IMO they're still on top of their game especially with their Phat Azz White Girls, IMO it's the best interracial serie out there.
I personally hope Lex won't end up at WCP, WCP already has a lot of better black performers who work for them and Lex is once again proof that a good performer doesn't mean a good director.
I have to disagree. I think Lex did not make a Bad Director.I admit;his product totally sucked over at RLD.He seemed more in the zone and comfortable with his lines over at Anabolic. I personally wish that him and Chris would mend ways;and he could re-start his lines he had going at Anabolic/Diabolic. He just seemed more in his element there than anywhere else. At Red Light;I think he had a better Financial deal;but his heart was not into it. Where Everhard excelled over there;he wayned badly. Ive sat in on a shoot with Lex that he Directed;and the guy knows what he's doing with a camera and is professional all the way.I just think people are over critical of his Directing because of yes;"he is Black"(in my opinion). He has a huge Penis;and he is a Power fucker;and the fact that he is a good director;is something they dont want to give him credit for.I personally dont really make it a Priority to whack off to his movies though. Not because he is not a Power Fuc#$%^ Machine;because he is. But he just aint NASTY enough with the girls for my viewing pleasure. I assume that he may be working deligently in starting his own Production and Distribution(maybe). It's a lull right now,but we cant count this guy out. You will be astounded if you met this guy.He is no dummy by a long shot. He is more intelligent than most of these people in this business. He knows how to win.
I'm a man of colour, and I would love to say Lex is a good director, if I felt he actually was a good director. I think all the criticisms of his work I've heard - poor lighting in some scenes, sunlight washing out the action, not picking the right angles or getting the best out of his performers - are very legitimate and if he is as bright and canny as you say, I wonder why he hasn't fixed these aspects of his directing...or is that what this sabbatical all about?
I agree with the lack-of-nastiness comment, but I think what he hasn't done often enough is good sleaze. The guy doing that best right now IMHO is Brian Pumper, who mixes dashing good looks with a sort of tongue-in-cheek, but when he sleazes it down, it works. It's in the talking, it's in the movements as he feels the girl up...that sort of thing, and I don't know that Lex really has done it as well in a while, but maybe that's a personal thing. Steve Holmes does great sleaze, so does Rocco, and of course Christoph.
If Lex could make a film like Outnumbered (and not Tournant), but bring along his funky personality and a little less powerfucking but a little more sleaze, I'd be up to see that.

Personally I wonder why RLD signed Lex. I think it was simply because he has a big dick, not because he's such a great director because he's not. The same goes for Sean Michaels at PXP but that's another story.
