Last night, I placed an order to Orgazmik for 11 European classics, including Bridgette Lahie pictures, and various other 'must-have' european dirty movies. Which I love. Anyway, the numb-nuts have just emailed me saying they want a fax of my credit card, credit card statement, fingerprints etc. My credit card statement will not be due for another 3 weeks, and I don't have access to a fax machine. I was the one taking a risk, not them!
So now I'm thinking of hopping on some form of transport and getting them myself, (global village and all that). I have not travelled much in my life (I'm 28), so it will be like mixing pleasure with um, pleasure.
So good people, which country do I visit for the DVD'S (they were all Ribu and Blue One titles), and will I have any problems waltzing through UK customs?
I am surprised to hear Orgazmik needed some ID like this - I hadn't heard that before. This is to prevent fraud, I suppose, so you can't really insult them for that. It is annoying, though.
You could always try an alternative retailer for some of the Blue One titles, like www.adultedvdx.com or www.cyberdvdx.com. I use AdulteDVDX and haven't had to fax any details, it's simple to order from them. The other alternative is to fax via your computer, though I guess you don't have the software for that either.
Blue One are from France, which could be the ideal location for you to visit! I'm not totally au fait with DVD prices in French shops, but expect to pay more as the French government seems target porn with taxes. I hate to say it, but I really think on-line porn shopping is better than buying from bricks and mortar stores.
As for Customs, far be it from us to encourage any law breaking activities! If your movies meet the BBFC's guidelines on acceptable content then you should have no problems going through Customs. But then they do like to take their work very seriously...
Thanks for the reply. Have you (or anyone else) ordered from adultdvdx before? They don't have as good a selection as Orgazmik, who are the gold standard for this sort of stuff (pity they didn't want my custom). But they're not bad.
I'd be interested to hear more comments on international shopping in terms of traditional shops too - we've had comment about London sex shops here, and Amsterdam. What about elsewhere?
You could also try DVDHorizon.net. I got a couple of my Brigitte Lahaie films from there. Service is fine and as far as I can remember, it didn't need any "faxing confirmations". You might try them, aswell!
Just got my order!!! With a free DVD, Arrogance. It's not something I like, but I can't complain. Will be using them again. Ordered monday night (I think), took two full days with express delivery. Cost £108. Will order more next monday.
Right, I've just watched Parties Fines, and it seems to be edited. There are at least 3 examples, but the most blatant one is the grand finale, where 3 guys empty their balls onto B. Lahie's chest. Although you see the semen on her chest, you don't see the moment of impact. Unless it was cut this way in the first place? But I have to doubt that. There are also at least 2 other scenes which do not have a cumshot at all? Anyone have any comments to make? Athos and cykedout, do you own these titles?
Other than that, it's great porn, with some lovely women, just the way I like them.
Thanks for the info on how your order with adultdvdx has gone MPD , especially including the overall price which most people ( including me I'm afraid ) are normally a little leery in giving out . Sorry I can't help you with weather or not those films have been edited . Haven't seem them .
On the original post you said you had problems with Orgazmik . Just placed my first order with them yesterday and no trouble . I wonder if it was the size of your order that caused the problem , as you intimated in another post . I only ordered 2 items La Veuve de Buda-Fesse / Orgasmes sur le Danube - Angelica Bella and Una Vita in Vendita - Dalila , Selen etc
The only time I've been asked for card details was BargainAdultDVD on a larger order including the first Private Penthouse boxset . Since I sent off the details no reply ,no update to my order , nothing . Scary . My statement comes through in about 4 days time and I dread to think what might be on it .
Yeah, it probably was. They must have thought I'd nicked someone's card and wanted to get a huge order before it was reported stolen!!
I'm not worried now. You know when I said that Orgazmik are the gold standard? Well, I've looked a bit more closely and this is not strictly true. Adultdvdx will do it for me. Fast delivery, good packing, hassle-free order and a free dvd. Nice.

Listen to what the man says, MPD; "I hope your order goes well, MPD."
It's not at all unusual for companies to ask for a fax of your credit card statement with some form of ID before accepting an international order. Both AdultDVDEmpire and AdultDVDToday have asked for this from me when I placed my first orders, and I don't think I've yet seen a negative post about ADToday or their Customer Service on this forum yet.
Point being: don't stress or be insulted, it's common practice for internet businesses dealing with new customers. It happens to us all.
Just want to clarify the situation about requesting further information to verify a card:
I guess we are not the only retailer getting fraudulent orders sometimes. Interesting point here is that most of them come from certain areas in the UK and France. Every retailer has to decide on his own whether an order looks fine or needs further investigation. The only immediate help you get from a card company is the information if a card can be charged for a certain amount. This is however no guarantee that the cardholder has approved a charge.
An address verification may take several days on certain international cards. Visa for example has a lot of local banks that handle their business. None of them has direct access to customer information of another.
Therefor it's simpler and faster to ask an international customer to provide further information like a copy of the card and a card statement to verify if the card is used by the right person.
To my knowledge this is a quite common practice, specially on larger orders. I have ordered several products (MP3 player for expl.) in the US and always had to provide these documents.
To come back to the statements of the original poster: I assume you are from the UK. 11 titles on a first time order from the UK is indeed a situation that ring some bells. Therefor you have been asked to provide the mentionned documents (we do not ask for fingerprints by the way...).
I understand your situation and we would probably find a solution if you contact me personally.
By the way: One may pick up all our titles in Zurich at Laserzone. This is a DVD store we are working with. Importing DVDs to the UK personally is no problem to my knowledge. I now a few guys that frequently do this.
