who is your favorite alt porn studio, director, actress? "Please don't type in all caps..." (including thread topics) Edited by - BigBobxxx on Mar 11 2008
The only people that seem to call themselves "alt." are those at Vivid.alt, kinda like how no Existentialist writers other than Sartre or de Beauvoir wanted to call themselves the term, or how no emo band ever called themselves emo. But that's probably just because people are inclined to not pigeonhole themselves. I liked Rebelle Rousers a lot, but that was a rockabilly vibe. And the Burning Angel stuff is good fun, but that's supposed to be "punk", not "alt" anymore, or is it still? But, I thought Riley Mason was going to be the "alt." superstar, but she seems to have long disappeared now. We'll need to have personality tests to determine who is the most alty to answer this. I think it has something to do with American Apparel ads and looking early '80s retro. But Lauren Phoenix was in one of those ads, and is she alt? It wouldn't seem so. But, the Doll Underground might still reveal some answers to these questions.
Vivid Alt and Burning Angel, with Dana DeArmond and Joanna Angel. Vivid Alt movies has a fantastic and unique special "feeling" and they are very moody! In short: superb! And Dana.... She is amazing, in every BTS I am knocked out by her natural charm and karizma!
Woody, you know as well as I that there's Blacklight Beauty, and then there's the rest of the alt-stuff. Personally, I like Eastside Story second-best of all. Doll Underground may be the masterpiece the scene has been hoping for.
Many credit Matt Zane with being the founder of 'alt-porn'... his stuff if pretty different... and it was a lot 'earlier' than some others... (besided the rock/porn stuff, there's his new tattoo series)
Enlighten me please, what is alt porn? I could google, but anything referring to porn seems to hit ten trillion irrelevant (yet nice) porn sites on it.
My cynical definition of "Alt Porn" is a bunch of indie kids making half assed stylistic rip-offs of Greg Dark and Rinse Dream without any of their substance or originality. Eon McKai's stuff can be OK and he seems to have a better sense of visuals than most but all of it has an unenthusiastic art school vibe.
Hmm, so if I get this right.... something that is porn, but with art-sauce spilled over it so you can pretend watching art while still whacking of to dirty images?
That makes it sound better than it actually is. And I'm an alt-porn fan. Sort of. If you're truly an alt person you're probably not a fan of anything. Winki Tinky's Man's Ruin gets the superheroine/sex mix right. Think MTV doing a porn comix live-action film.
A very thin layer of art sauce. The alt porn people tend to think they're a lot more clever and original than they really are. The girls look like typical porn girls except a little bit skinnier and wearing Chucks. The guys are about the same as always. New porn is sooooooo boring and unoriginal.

A good question. I think it is porn witout porno looking girls, seemingly a lot of the girls have slightly left of center punk look, but more updated. Tattoos and piercings seem to be the norm. The music is different than your usual porno movie too. Girls Lie was great, Rebel Rousers was great. I love Dana Dearmond, I wish she would love me back. Jack the Zipper stuff is great.
I'm definitely a fan of Jack the Zipper's Work. I'm a huge fan of Alt Porn at this moment. I love to see things pushed to another level, an extreme one at that. Seeing people engage in realistic and completely maniacal sex is definitely a turn on. What does everyone think of Debbie Loves Dallas?
