I'm considering joining an online rental site like xrentdvd/sugardvd/bushdvd, etc...

Any comments or opinions on which is the best site? I don't want to join and then have most of my selections unavailable due to being rented out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

With Xrentdvd, what you see is what you get. Availability and selection were generally good. But service dropped off sharply after about the third month, where shipments took up to 10 days when formerly took only 3 days. Excuses: postal service. Yeah, right. By the sixth month, it became unbearable.

1st off the 10day thing is atypical & is not indicative of their service as an aggregate IMHO.

2nd, have u not seen the countless other threads DEDICATED to this very topic/question??

I'll help u out:

I'm quite certain, you'll inevitably find BushDVD.com to be the superior over the others...hands down. However, I recently decided to try the newcomer, SugarDVD.com...& they're phenomenal, too. Either way u can't go wrong...Since BushDVD gives you almost half off your 1st month, & SugarDVD gives u a free 10day trial.

I didn't say the 10-day delivery was typical. All I said was it happened. I should say more precisely that during the first couple of months, deliveries and returns for me ranged from 2 to 4 days, with most at 3-day. Next couple of months, deliveries and returns usually took a day or two longer. By the 5th month, a disc took 10 days to arrive and some discs took about a week to be checked back in. A month later, another disc took equally long to arrive.

I have no other issue with the mail. Since USPS does not guarantee First Class delivery time, it becomes an easy scapegoat for anyone wanting an excuse.

Irregardless...Whether or not it's typical, it's irrelevant. It more than likely will not occur to many others. 10days?...I'm well aware that they are rather slow relative to BushDVD, ADE, et al....But, never 10days continuously.

The only place I've rented from is XRent and they haven't given me any reason to try someone else.

But I only rent without any membership.

I have a few questions for anyone who's rented from xrentdvd recently:

If I select "USPS Priority Mail (Recommended)" for $4.99, how long does it usually take to arrive? I live in the Chicagoland area.

I'm planning on renting about 4 titles; will it be delivered in a plain white envelope in my mailbox, and when will the purchase appear on my bank statement?

Thanks,

Reggie

I live in Iowa. If I use the $4.99 shipping option, I get my package within 2 to 4 days with 3 days being the most common. If I use the $2.99 option, I get my package within 3 to 5 days with 4 days being the most common.

The $2.99 envelope is white and is slightly bigger in size than a DVD. The $4.99 envelope is more like a card board type material and is twice the width of the $2.99 envelope. The white envelope with the DVDs is inside the card board envelope.

You have to know the last day of your billing cycle. For example, if you use a certain card whose billing cycle ends on July 16th, any purchase you make prior to the 16th will be reflected on your July Statement.

If however you make the charge on July 17th and your billing cycle has already ended, the charge will then show up on your August Statement along with your other charges during the first half of the month of August.

Hope I didn't confuse you!

Hey guys, I only noticed a very brief mention of WantedList.com in one of the 6 linked threads by GonzoAnalFan, so I thought I'd chime in to let you know that there's another company to consider. WantedList.com was AVN's pick for Best Retail Site of 2005 and we also offer a 10 day free trial.

coolasafanman,

I visited your site. What's your policy for adding newly released titles? It seems that your site is really late in adding newly released titles. For example, Ass Worship 7 by Jules Jordan was released in late May. It is not listed in your site at this point. Newly released titles from other studios than Evil Angel are not listed either.

I know this sounds harsh, but this fact alone is enough to drive away a lot of ADT forumers.

Wow!....That is N O T harsh!!

...RIDICULOUS, it is.

(I believe BushDVD added Slut Puppies the day it was released & I got mine YESTERDAY!)

No reason anyone should give their business to Wantedlist.com...IMO.

The titles I was looking for at Xrentdvd were out, so I decided to give Dvdrentz.com a try.

Has anyone here tried dvdrentz? I read through their FAQs, and it says you do not have to be a member to rent dvds. I went ahead and rented 4 dvds, gave them my CC, and there was no page with a receipt of costs, etc. Now I'm a little worried. I did receive an email, and it says the Number of Movies Requested was 1. And I rented 4. I emailed them back, so hopefully they'll get back to me with more details.

Hi Infimum,

That's a good question. We're usually pretty good about adding new release titles but we know we could be even faster, and we're putting a lot of resources into this segment of our service. Previously, our focus has been on gearing up our second distribution center. The facility is now completely operational, meaning faster turnaround times for customers across the country. We've also made significant software enhancements, such as our Pornotron 6900 which helps you fill your queue with movies based on your preferences, though it's more for newbies to get familiar with the many available choices. And we've also added more valuable, free content to our website to enhance the user experience, such as the WantedList Advisor column and our most recent contest, "Direct a Madness Picture."

I realize that a consumer like you would be happiest with the latest movies available immediately upon release - and we'll have that soon - but with the 15,000+ titles we've already got in stock and large proportion of new release titles, we find that most customers are happy with our selection.

Typically, we wouldn't post in one of these threads, but when a company is guilty of false advertising and chooses to use the forum to perpetuate that lie we feel the need.

We didn’t realize this forum to be a place where businesses flame each other. We thought this to be a place where adult movie fans, directors, performers and businesses talk about things happening in the industry and services that are offered. But we’re not going to lower ourselves like the previous post into name-calling and flames. We’re just going to give you guys the facts.

We have over 15,000 titles, period. We made the decision recently to divide our straight and gay sections up. Instead of calling our gay section Gay WantedList, we decided to be clever and call it MaleBoxDVD www.MaleBoxDVD.com. Male Box DVD, which is integrated into the WantedList service and framework allows users to rent from over 4,000 different gay titles. Our straight movies extend beyond 12,000 titles. You do the math.

Very simply, we offer all new users the “Pepsi Challenge,” with our free trial. Our philosophy is that we’ve got nothing to hide and customers have nothing to lose. Try our selection, search engine, fun features and enjoy fast turn around times with our regional distribution centers. If you don’t like it, then you can always cancel your membership before the 10 day free trial is up.

We appreciate everyone reading and if you have any other questions please post them or you can email at dennis@wantedlist.com.

At the address www.wantedlist.com/WantedMember.aspx, it says, "Over 15,000 TITLES in stock, from the BEST STUDIOS AND STARS." Don't you think that the number of titles listed at www.MaleBoxDVD.com shouldn't be counted there???

Although I am not entirely familiar with your system, the "Browse all Genres" option doesn't list the genre "gay" at www.wantedlist.com. What you accused of name calling seems to be confusing advertisement on your part more than anything else.

Yes, I did the math and I am letting consumers know the facts (with the help of BushDVD, thanks!).

Signed up and ordered with both Wantedlist (first) and XRentDVD (a couple days later). The first order from Xrent has come and gone and I'm still waiting for the Wantedlist order. So far, Wantedlist being AVN's pick for Best Retail Site of 2005 (which was a selling point in my choice) has not lived up. May only be a one month membership.

Do you actually believe in the legitimacy of AVN awards? Those stores nominate themselves for the Best Store/Site award in the first place!

ArcticSnowman - I looked up your ID in our database, assuming your username with us is the same as on here. Your account is in 'Pending' status, meaning that something went wrong at the time of signup. Typically this would be an address issue or something similar. Usually customer service contacts people immediately to resolve these things promptly. Anyway, I've forwarded a request to the CSR department and you should receive an email promptly. Next time something comes up, feel free to email them at support@wantedlist.com

Infimum, I can appreciate your skepticism. You remind me of myself in a lot of ways.

It's true that companies can nominate themselves for the AVN Awards. And it's certainly possible that there's an adult retail website out there, which is better than all the nominees, but whose founders, directors, managers, employees and friends did not think to say, "This is a good website, I should nominate it."

Of the nominees, we were a winner, and that's a fact. Like you said, anyone can enter the contest, and there were plenty of great submissions, but a panel of judges gave an award to us.

AVN is a leader in our industry. They host trade shows and events, fan shows, they report important news about our industry and they help companies new to the business get their names out there. AVN is as legitimate as it gets in the adult industry.

Other respectable and legitimate publications who gave us a lot of love recently include Wired Magazine (Nov 2005) and Stuff Magazine (Dec 2005). You can be as skeptical about our company as you like, but take a look at who has positive things to say about us and then make a decision.

Infimum, have you ever tried our service? You know we do have a free trial.
