I don't know about "good" story porn, but story porn does exist and is being produced by several companies. Wicked Vivid Evil Angel (Dana Vespoli is directing features for them and they are impressive). Elegant Angel made one celebrated feature recently, WASTELAND, which was not to my taste but others think its fantastic. New Sensations (I watched a recent one, THE SEXUAL LIBERATION OF ANNA LEE, and it was good) AMK made an outstanding feature, REVENGE OF THE PETITES, and reportedly had another in the bag (SAVING HUMANITY) which never materialized. Several sites produce scenes that are more heavily narrativized than some of the features being produced. My favourite of these is MOMS BANG TEENS on Reality Kings. The GET MY BELT series at Porn Fidelity has impressive production values, from what I have seen, and narrativizes its scenes. I would love to hear what else is out there. People act like the feature is dead, yet several studios continue to make them and I keep discovering these websites producing featuresque scenes of a surprisingly high quality.

Most of the Sweet Sinner stuff is of the feature variety and directed by James Avalon, one of the art form's kings. Also, have to second the opinion that New Sensations has put out some excellent features lately. I thought The Laws of Love directed by Eddie Powell (a personal favourite among the modern set of directors) was particularly good.
Director B. Skow releases mostly feature films for the label Skow for GFF So far he has directed 11 or 12 movies for them I think. Some non-story porn as well, but that's the minority.

There's some good stuff among Smash's recent releases. Friends and Family #4 was serviceable, so to speak. But you can't quite expect the same production values you'd get from the studios previously mentioned. Scott McGowan - Your Choice

B.Skow is one of the better up and comers in the feature genre. I know he's been around for awhile, but his work has definitely evolved over the past couple years. Scott McGowan - Your Choice
I agree on New Sensations - they seem to be producing good quality porn with decent plot. I've got the wife hooked on porn thanks to this company. A couple I'd recommend from them: The Friend Zone, Dear Abby (this one won a pile of awards), the Submission of Emma Marx (very good). Those are the best I think they've produced. I own about a half dozen or so more from them, but nothing compares to those 3. I have a bunch (as you mentioned) from the 80's and 90's.

I feel like Digital Sin should be mentioned in here as well. It's a sister studio to New Sensations, so a lot of the same people (including Eddie Powell, mentioned above) are working on these movies. Digital Sin doesn't generally make features per se, but their vignette pieces (each scene has a little stand alone story) are second to none. Now, I don't know if it's your bag or not, but their Tabu Tales line is really, really good. Even if you're not specifically into the step-family fucking thing, they're extremely well-written and performed. Our Father was amazing.

Forbidden Fruits is definitely coming along. We screened a bunch of their stuff recently and it seems they're starting to hit their stride. For right now, though, I'd have to give the edge to Digital Sin's Tabu Tales series, directed by Jacky St. James She really is a phenomenal writer/director - easily among the best in the business right now. I like some of the Tabu stuff as well. I think I like the Forbidden stuff more because I have it bad for Jodi West.

I really like her as well. She seems to be genuinely having fun in these movies, and that's really important to me. I think the reason I have to give the edge to Digital Sin's Tabu Tales really boils down to technical quality and writing. The better the film making, the more likely I am to suspend disbelief and be sucked in to the scenario.
I am with you both, Coran and Scott. I think Jodi is the best MILF in porn and try to get all of her scenes but the Tabu Tales are best for production value and "in your face" quality. Great stuff from both venues.

Good to see that Eddie Powell is still making features, I'll have to check out THE LAW OF LOVE. In terms of modern narrative loops I was much impressed with a Brazzers short based on The Black Swan with Gracie Glam and Lexi Belle. It is an actual short film and the psychological dimension makes the sex hotter, like most good narrative pornography. That was a while ago and I'm not sure who directed the scene or if Brazzers has done anything similar in ambition since, I haven't seen anything unfortunately.

Basically, anything that Dana Vespoli directs (barring the odd gonzo type movie for Evil Angel) is good in story, even if it's that short vignette style. Speaking of Dana Vespoli and features though, Hollywood Babylon is worth definitely worth a look. If you're not keen on rough stuff or stories that involve manipulation and power games, it might not be for you. It is a damned good movie though. There's four reviews for it, all of them very good.
With Dana Vespoli being skilled at creating story porn (and great at non-narrative work, as well) I'm just hoping that eventually she might direct a feature in a sub-genre that I'm really fond of: Lesbian Vampire flicks. Think it's quite hot when a female vampire aims her bite at women's breasts, rather than at their throats or necks. I know that with Dana at the helm, she would make sure that the camera work also brought out the best potential for making some truly hot, classic scenes, in that type of video.

Holy, shit. I can't believe I'm in a thread about high-production-value, feature style films and didn't mention JoyBear Pictures! They're a British company that consistently does top notch stuff. The movies are made with couples in mind and focuses more on stories than special effects or gimmicks. The production values are almost mainstream in quality. Highly recommend giving them a look.
