A while back, I had a thread asking on who precursed what we see now with adult stars/movies focused on the big butt. This time, I'm asking about the boobs. Who really was the first to kickoff/popularize the big rack? This is a tricky question, since some of the more well-known female stars going back a long time ago weren't known for large boobs (Nina Hartley has been known more for her butt than her boobs)
I don't think this question will have a simple answer. Men have always liked big boobs and porn has had a lot of big breasted women in it. I'd say one of the first really popular big boob stars was probably Candy Samples. There were probably other big boob girls before her but she was probably one of the first really popular big boob hardcore pornstars. The first major porn company/studio to be built around big breasted women would be BIG TOP VIDEO. On their older DVDs they tell the history of their company and how they sought out big boob scenes/clips and built their company specializing in big breasts. If you go outside the porn world you have to give props to RUSS MEYER. I think Russ was the first to make a series of movies that starred all big breasted women and shot his movies to play them up and show them off. If we were to look to television for early big boob emphasis I'd have to guess it would be the show HEE HAW. From what little I've seen of HEE HAW it seems most of the HEE HAW HONEYS wore tight tops that showed lots of cleavage and played up the girl's breasts. Other shows back then might've had a girl or two with big breasts but I don't think I've ever seen one that had such a large cast of girls in tight tops playing up their boobs.
Christy Canyon was a very popular pornstar that had big breasts but even before her you had Candy Sample, Annie Sprinkle, and Kay Parker to name a few. They were all popular but I don't think any of them started the big boob craze in the sense that porn poducers specifically set out to find and shoot other big boob girls. I don't think the big boob craze started until the middle 80s where boobjobs started to become more common and better done than they had before. I think the big boob craze started at that point when it was able to manufacture and create big boob stars instead of waiting and hoping for them to happen naturally. I agree with Draxxx about Russ Meyer's movies being a starting point. Although at the time of their release, his movies like Super Vixens received an x-rating so they never had a wide release. Film critic Roger Ebert wrote a few of the Russ Meyer flicks like Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and maybe Beneath the Valley of the Ultra Vixens---tb
In my opinion this is a question that's a bit age-related. For me Christy Canyon, Kim Eternity and Ebony Ayers definitely were the stars that started my big boobs adult star craze. I also remember Tiffany Towers was a big star back then. In those days we also had the very big breasted Georgina Lempin. A bit after that I first saw one of my all-time favourites: Cassandra. Especially in her first years in porn she did some very nasty stuff, remember her scenes for Diabolic (or Anabolic): Nice Rack etc. After that she became a soft model (busty-pl, boobs-pl, etc.) She's now 32 so not too old to make a comeback, there's still some hope left. Round about that time and just like Russ Meyer Tinto Brass made also some great soft-movies: 'Paprika' for instance with the young & lovely Deborah Caprioglio. Haven't seen much of her after that. I believe Russ Meyer & Tinto Brass have no real successors which is a pitty.
Tinto Brass is actually more of a butt man than breast guy. His movies had some women with big breasts but his focus was clearly geared more towards women's butts. It's true that no one makes those type of movies anymore. Someone did a homage/rip off of a Russ Meyer movie a few years ago that starred Mary Carey but it didn't turn out well because the women weren't as goodlooking and the director just copied some of the Meyer-like ways of direction but the humor and heart weren't there. Although, when I look back on most of the old Russ Meyer stuff it's often silly and nonsensical in terms of story. The Tinto Brass stuff is usually interesting to watch for how much he can get away with and how far the actresses will go. I'm not sure if those are legit actresses he uses but whoever they are some of them stop just short of actual pentatration.
My personal porn big boob craze started with Tiffany Towers and the BIG TOP VIDEO and SCORE girls of the late 80s. That was the era of the super boobs of Tiffany Towers, Lisa Lipps, Wendy Whoppers, Minka, Sarenna Lee, Busty Dusty, Danni Ashe, Kayla Kleevage, Kimberly Kupps, Donita Dunes, Summer Cummings, etc., etc... With those girls being among my first porn favs and being used to seeing breasts that size to this day when some people complaining about some of today's girls going too big with thier boobjob it still sounds a bit strange to me because I consider the girls of that era as over the top big and most of the girls of today don't come close....with the exception of perhaps the girls who do lots of stuff fore SCORE.
