Does most of the acting in porn suck? Sure! Does that mean all of it sucks? Heck no! Unlike yourself, I prefer not to limit my entertainment based on how "other" people define something. Why is porn "supposed to be" a particular way? Who decided that little fact of yours? You? Bah!

My opinion is that a feature porno, if it tries to have a plot or has people acting (ie: reading lines), will be held accountable, in a review, for what it attempts to do. A series of loops could, theoretically, get a higher rating than a botched feature. An example of this would be my long ago review of Stop My Ass Is On Fire 2. It was low budget, had no acting, and generally was not my type of movie yet I gave it a "4" which, for me at least, is a fairly rare thing. It didn't try to impress thinking porn watchers and wasn't held to the higher standard such a movie would be.

Would it surprise many of you to learn that the better gonzo movies were, in fact, scripted? That means acting. Look at how some women seem to enjoy working with Ron Jeremy, Ed Powers, or any other nasty guy and you have an Academy Award winner in a parallel universe.

Oh, the reason why FF/Rewind was invented was to scan through commercials. It was a major basis for the lawsuit the movie making companies brught against the VCR manufacturers back in the 70's/80's. While the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the manufacturers, it was reported that at one point, the movie producers offered to drop the suit if FF was eliminated as a feature. (they own(ed) major amounts of stock in the networks and the advertisers were not going to pay as much if their efforts could be time shifted away-the copying of movies themselves was not as major a factor).

People often comment about the plots because why even have a plot if it totally sucks. But that does not mean that no porn movies have worthwhile plots, plots that make people laugh, or plots that actually enhance the sex.

I like watching porn all the way from beginning to end I find humor and good acting, and plot do surface somethimes. And when they do I find it enhances the sexual aspect of the movie. Plus when I get the opportunity to meet my favorite stars I like to be able to speak intelligently with them about their works. I try and not sound like such a pervert and focus more on the non-sexual talents they have, I would think they must find this refreshing since they probobly hear plenty about the sexual acting. I think fan feedback is important as long as its CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and not the "ohh look at me im going to be an asshole type" that embarasses anyone within a 20 foot radius of them. So I guess im trying to say Porn is more than just sexual pleasure to me its something I like to consider a hobby and as with any hobby I like to expand on my knowledge of it.

Chances (Wicked) has very good acting, sex could've been better, but this is a very well done film.

Sex Freaks, Snake Pit, Psychosexuals 1 and 2, all from Greg Dark all combine sex with story and are all among my favorites. Not because of the sex, but because of the direction of Gregory Dark.

(Personally, I am as far away from a raincoater you'll find and I have yet to find the eroticism in most of today's movies. While I can understand someone going for the sheer athleticism that today's porn requires -- not to mention the amazingly pliable rectal cavities -- I don't find it very erotic. I like stories with my porn, too. I know the acting is laughable and I am able to suspend my disbelief despite it; mostly because I am willing to.)

I enjoy it. I think there is a lot of potential for a movie to have a plot where instead of thirty seconds of actors rubbing up against each other and pretending to be passionate, we can have twenty minutes of actors screwing their brains out and pretending to be passionate.

If all you want to do it watch tab A sliding into slot B, then by all means, go for it. Some of us, on the other hand, would like to see what a director and some talented people can create when they don't have to worry about some censoring body deciding that they can't show what everyone wants to see.

If you don't like the reviews that talk about the acting, you can skip that part, much like you can skip the acting in your search for more sex. The power is yours, use it wisely.

The rest of us will see about having our minds stimulated as well as our genitals.

You mention potential for movies to have a plot, you mention creative directors and so on, but frankly even the best of this is purely potential, largely unfulfilled. Surely it's stretching a point to suggest that genuine creativity is a significant part of contemporary porn. Don't get me wrong, I am all for it - I'm simply struggling to think of more than a handful of directors who could be described in this way.

Plot-free porn doesn't have to be about slotting parts together - at it's best it's just what I want to see, without distractions. Sorry, but the point about censorship..?

As to the original point, porn is only required to have hardcore fucking plus whatever else you fancy. Not even the hardcore if we are talking about certain types of fetish material.

If there is acting, plot etc and it is bad, reviewers have a duty to say so, equally to praise it if it is good.

My belief is that porn should cater for all tastes, and by and large it does. Taking a prescriptive attitude only lessens choice.

There's one part in it where Jenna has sex with a man who's made-up to look half man/half goat. It was the closest you'll ever get to watching Jenna shag a donkey. After, Jenna turned into what was meant to be half woman/half goat. In her next scene she was wearing these knee high furry boots which were meant to be her 'goat legs'.

After seeing this (which I admit was amusing) I had to get away from any films with a plot.
