Christian is right... most of th top performers who 'Do Everything' work every day, twice a day, sometimes three times a day... and thats why they are bigger names... because you see them everywhere AND they are ABLE to perform in more difficult scenes.
I have done only 510 scenes in the last 4 years.. hardly a record, but I have enjoyed most of them.

I don't know why people say disease as a risk when I think its a lot safer in the industry than in real life. I think its the only place where you can get to bang as many chicks in life with more security against STD's because of the regulation, if you were extremely lucky in real life to do as many chicks as in porn, I would consider it to be a lot less safe.
As for being a pornstar, it seems kind of cool at times, but to me it would be an impossibility for a number of reasons. While those points above might be issues for the sexually average men, the successful porn performers don't have them:

1)They can fuck any women that is thrown to them and even

Actually we are all tested ever 30 days or less... we have a less than 1% STD infection rate, vs. the general public of 14% count in how sexually active someone is, and that 14% can grow... I remember reading an article in which someone wrote that anyone working in porn has to be a risk-taker. I think this is true. It is certainly not an industry to get involved in without knowing the risks. I'm sure you have more familiarity with this than I do since you work in the industry. But the frequent testing seems to be more of an acknowledgement of the high level of risks involved with working in the industry, just like any other precautionary measure people take for safety. However, precautions do not remove the risks, though they may be somewhat successful at reducing them. The risk is still always present.

I also did visit the AIM site you suggested. The correct web address is aim-med.org. The other address leads to the Accuracy in Media website. According the site, performers are tested for HIV and other bacterial diseases, but are not required to be tested for other viral infections such as herpes and HPV. These are only given as recommendations to be done twice a year, which I presume is at the performer's discretion. Is this true? If so, risk of disease is still a real concern. Plus, I'd always be thinking of all the horrible possibilities that might have transpired during the 30 days since the last test. You say that "the vast majority of performers use condoms with non-performers." Unless you are privy to the private practices of performers in their off-screen lives, how do you know this for sure?

The rates are reasonable for guys, but not as high as the girls and unstandably so. It's because it is mostly Men who buy the films.

joel, and you would be incorrect. there are about 20 guys who work everyday. maybe more than 20. so 600 a scene x 30 scenes a month. somehow i doubt you make that much. :)
and dont forget that the TOP TOP guys are directors as well and make more money from directing as well as performing.

My company, so not exactly me (although I own 98% of it) has made more than £50,000 in a single month, but it's up and down and a lot is reinvested. That is one thing which is not speculation, it's a matter of record.
However, I don't get to fuck hot girls and probably work longer hours than you guys do.
But you are certainly right regarding directing, I am sure folks like Jules Jordan are making a good deal more than $18k a month - the place he lures the girls back to looks like it might be worth a bit! ;)

As I see it, the only good thing about porn is the money. You can fuck beautilful women outside of porn, who are less likely to have STD'S.
