BigDinka: The person I spoke with was an AVN official. A major booth holder was standing there when she told me that they were returning and the weeks that they have booked. If she was wrong, then she also told a major booth holder the same bad information. As for the code of conduct. With all that has happened and all of the accusations it was bound to happen. On the other hand, if you have a trade ticket, you have been signing that paperwork for years when you get your badge and wristband. Yes, the Lansky booth needs to be moved. I also believe the cam booths should be in their own room. I do not know about the fan entrance but at the trade entrance we had to go thru metal detectors. Not a big deal but a change from the past. The HRH staff said they only did it because the show (AVN) requested it. I heard complaining from a few booth holders that AVN raised their booth prices by as much as 100%. I heard a booth the size of JJ went from $10,000 to $20,000. Just for the floor space, not counting the booth build and incidentals. One person I know had 2 eight foot tables in the main room and he paid $7000 this year, after paying $4000 last year for the same spot. I agree about Adult Time, they may have had the best ran booth this year. Also disappointed in the V-Rod situation. I saw her at an AVN table in the hall way and she said she would be at Jules the next day. I saw the people from Jules removing her sign and photos and asked if she was coming later. All they said was "She ain't coming here". It will be interesting to see how the remodel goes, hopefully they replace all the shitty restaurants. No place in that hotel is worth eating at. (Full disclosure, I did not try Nobu or MB35).

Alex Blake was upset her booth was fined $60,000 because she wasn't wearing panties, and her trademark pubes were obvious when she was sitting on the counters. So that shocks me if a booth that size was fined triple the amount of its rent.They are replacing all of the restaurants as restaurant staff cannot afford a 3-6 month break for a remodel. I have had good meals at Culinary Dropout and FU even though you can debate "worth" for any casino restaurant markup.
Several people I talked to said they would not be coming back to the show over the new security policies. Some of these people have been coming for over 20 years. Those rules would make sense if we were going to a concert but not an expo. I think a lot of the fans who could not bring their cameras in (professional or otherwise) will not come back. Lower attendance means less revenue for the show and less money for the girls if those fans aren't there. One of the girls said her sponsor (with about 6 booth spaces) who paid big bucks to rent that space could not even bring their own water in for the girls. And the girls who were charging a fee for having their pictures taken with the fans lost out on potential revenue from the fans who had to take their cameras back to their rooms or cars. I even heard of some fans from overseas who were really pissed that they could not bring their cameras in. I might not bring any light sabers next year (sorry Riley) if these policies are still in effect. I attend ComicCon International every year (attendance roughly 135,000) and they have no rules like these and everything goes smoothly. A couple of my friends went to see Lady Gaga last week and had an easier time getting into that show than they did getting into the AEE. I love coming to the show every year but if I couldn't bring my camera in I'd stop attending. Hopefully whoever decided to implement these rules will rethink them before next year's show. If the fans are not made to feel welcome at an event they won't come.

As the week went on, you saw more and more of them. Cameras do cause an issue inside the show. Way to many people believe they are professional photographers and try to do photo sets on the show floor. I stood behind one guy who took at least 50 photos of a girl, asking for pose after pose. The girl kept making faces and kept looking around saying "I'm sorry" to people waiting to get by. This is partially on the girls who could say enough but most will not. ^^You couldn't bring in any camera with a detachable lens if you weren't Press related. One of the security guys stopped me at first but then let me in with mines the first day. I still saw regular fans coming in with theirs on Thursday and Friday, so as much as they wanted to be strict with the rules they were still half-assing it. If it is the last one at Hard Rock then cool because the way they were handling things would definitely turn people away. Greg Lansky's area was so disorganized. The first day they said they were only doing one line for all the girls which meant extremely long wait times. Then the next day when people started lining up and waiting before they got there, the guy comes around and says stay in line because they were on the way. Then when finally get there (late) they decide to say fuck it and not do the line lol. Adult Time booth was a great set up. Jules' booth was great though we missed Nikki Benz. Evil Angel was one of the most organized areas as always. Ended up missing a lot of girls since some were only there for half of one day. Edited by - iramaj1 on 1/29/2019 9:09:08 AM
Booth space was much more than that lol, this is a very expensive show for us, which causes us to have to charge for photos with the talent. The problem is the hall we are in has no orientation to it, or plan for lines making it essentially a free for all.
Totally untrue! Many fans brought them in. I think it more depended on the security person who you went by. Some fans got creative and took their lenses off and had them separate and security let them by. Also, it was not the HRH (Hard Rock Hotel) security, it was directed by AVN. At the trade entrance we went thru metal detectors, even when you set them off (almost everyone did) all they did was ask to look in your bag. I asked one security person about that and they said "We have never done this for any other convention" As for the people who say they will not go back because of the camera issue. This seems like the same thing as when restaurants got rid of smoking sections. People complained and said they would never go back but they did go back. I suspect people will just buy smaller cameras and will be back next year.
Why not just pictures with your iphone or something, you really don't need a camera to take pictures nowadays. Or did they also say you couldn't take your mobile inside?
How are your light sabers relevant to the ban on interchangeable lense cameras? Were you prohibited from entering with one considering you have a badge?
I don't think the camera thing is as much of an issue for fan attendees since the ones who can afford SLRs have smartphones. Hell, Bono and I have both taken just our cell phones to red carpet events (Bono with the AVN Awards even) to the bemusement of other press photographers and our photos are no worse than the ones using a rig. Iphones and Pixels currently take better photos than the current sony rig I use.
I said I was able to get mines in on the first day but the security guard (the real short one, if you remember) initially stopped me and told me that any professional type cameras were not allowed by fans. I absolutely noticed that other people got theirs in through the week but I wasn't really tripping off of it. Iphone worked just fine. Edited by - iramaj1 on 1/29/2019 2:23:25 PM
Ah...the Lansky " Oasis "... Does it merit the criticism it receives from the fans at AEE??? Probably. However, my comments will focus on what he ( and his booth ) did right. In a word...Saturday. Hopefully, what they did on that day will be the model for what they do in the future at the show. I commend their staff and the three ladies who signed that day: Kendra Sunderland, Alina Lopez and Little Caprice. The girls were great with their fans and the security was great as well. A far cry from " Dig Me " Central that was the Lansky Layout from Wednesday through Friday. I regret that Tori Black, Riley Reid, Vicky Chase and others were not allowed to interact with their fans in that Saturday format. Heck, they downsized their promos this year at the show. Maybe next year, they can downsize the " douchie " sideshows and lightshows and upgrade their fan friendly meet n greet sessions. One can only dream...
I walked in with my usual big canvas bag of light sabers for the girls and was told that I couldn't bring the bag in and had to transfer all of its contents into those little My Free Cams bags. That has nothing to do with the camera issues. I was just commenting on my particular issues. I'm much more comfortable taking pictures with an SLR camera than with a phone. I did not have a major problem with other people taking a lot of pictures of the girls. If one of them was in front of me I just moved to another line and came back later. The same with those guys who are gesturing wildly and talking the girls to death. I just left those lines and came back later. I don't know why some fans were denied the chance to bring their cameras in. They paid their money to get in and should not have had those restrictions put on them. But that's just my opinion. Even with those hassles I still had a great time and will be back next year. But I do think those new policies should be made known to the fans before they decide whether or not to attend. I think Alex forgetting to wear her panties was an honest mistake. I believe it was her first AEE and in all the excitement she just forgot to wear them. Next year I'll go by her booth to make sure she has them on so that she won't get in trouble again.
While I may have a smartphone, I'd much rather use my SLR to take pictures at a convention, if for no other reason that my smartphone memory is usually filled with other things I'd rather not get rid of and my camera's memory is just photos. I didn't actually go this year, and truthfully knowing this would be a policy in advance wouldn't stop me from going, but not declaring it until hours before the event is just some piss poor planning on AVN's part (which, having gone the last 4 years, isn't really a shock to me).
Given the poor lighting in the Joint, DSLR cameras are much preferred and cell phone flashes leave a lot to be desired. Almost not worth taking photos in that hall with a cell phone.

A shame Lela Star and Bonnie Rotten weren't there (bcs it would have been their come back to expo since lots of years) but anyways!! I think putting Ivy Lebelle and Missy Martinez in both places were a good idea!!
I realize this is more than a bit late but I've been having some posting issues...
Wednesday - Show seemed poorly attended from both fans and talent. It probably didn't help that I was told I couldn't bring my camera in since anything with a detachable lens was determined to be a professional camera and you required an "All Access" or "Press" badge to use one. This had me in a pretty foul mood for most of the day. I asked if I could go get my fixed lens 4K video camera and was told that it would be fine which really left me dumbfounded.
Thursday - Camera headaches continue...I asked one of the security ladies if there had been any changes to the camera policy and was told that some were being let in. She asked if I could show her mine and, after she saw the short lens I had with me, she said it would be okay. My mood improved and I noticed more talent as well as an increase in attendees.
Friday - Ready for this? I'm now told at the x-ray machines (both talent and fans, general admission and VIP, had them) all detachable lens cameras are forbidden. Once again, I'm confused and irritated. It's at this point that I begin to make friends with a few of the security people who are just as confused by this constantly changing policy as many of us fans were. Needless to say, back to the video camera and cell phone for capturing the event.
Saturday - As I walk to the VIP entrance, the security lady I was talking to on Friday asks if I brought the camera. I said I hadn't as I wanted no drama in order to make the Angela White window at Jules Jordan's booth. I'm then told that they had been instructed that detachable lens cameras were now allowed provided the lens was shorter than 6 inches. Insert your own jokes here, I sure did. :) I brought my camera from the car just to be told at the x-ray machine that I couldn't bring it in!!! Apparently some security had not been informed of the change. Eventually, this guy's supervisor had to be radioed in and then my camera and I were allowed in. And here I thought the only clusterfuck I had to deal with / avoid was the Lansky area.
I won't bore you with my dealings with any of the performers but the show just seemed a bit off to me, granted it may have been my mood as well.
