There must be 2 versions of this release. My DVD
rental did not have the Boo scene where she passes
out from being choked by Mark Davis?

Den,
What happened to your anti-ckoking stance? This sounds horrible.

I watched this one recently because it piqued my curiosity. Not because of the action but because along with the screener we received a bunch of supporting documentation including model releases and such. I won't provide details but I was curious to see the difference between a scene where the perfomers were paid $X vs. a different scene where they made more/less money.

Choking is not my thing but for some reason I wasn't repulsed by it in Who's Your Daddy?. I'm not sure but it actually seemed like some of the girls liked Mark's choking tecnique. A half dazed smile appeared as he let go in the same manner a good drag on a ballon filled with nitrous oxide provides.

I didn't watch the whole thing. The only moment that I saw where it looked like someone wasn't enjoying themselves was in the final scene with Taylor Rain. Davis and Myne are DPing her in this scene. (Strangely, she appears to enjoy herself.) But then for the pop shot Myne pulls right out of her ass and sticks his dick in Taylor's mouth. The look on her face was "whoa there buddy! I didn't sign up for A2M!" and she genetly pushed him away. He was quite insistent and kept sticking it back in her face even though she was noticable not happy. Ruined an otherwise hot scene for me.

Well, when even the S & M community comes out against a practice EVEN IN PRIVATE, whether or not the performers appear to enjoy it becomes moot as far as I'm concerned.

Someone has to grow some balls and stop this crap.

I pointed out that it had choking and I put the
notice about choking. I was prepared to really
blast it if it contained the choking until Boo
passed out.

This is Greg Alves and I own Zero Tolerance and you are correct in noticing that there is more than one version of this title, certain distributors got a lighter version. As you might or might not know some distributors are not comfortable taking certain kinds of product, to accommodate them we made lighter version.
The choking in question was clearly consensual and in all the cases in this movie the girls were asking to be choked. It is not my policy to ever have a victim in my movies. I think if you watch the scene with boo you will find it truly erotic.
I always welcome any and all feedback from anyone out there. Greg

As long as you ban boxing, mountaineering, skiing and such other forms of dangerous crap as well then fair enough.

Welcome, Greg Alves. I wish you well for your new company, but I can't tell you how appalled I am that this kind of thing is being soft-pedaled to the point that it is.

I realize that it's a fetish that's all the rage in Porno World, and perhaps the females DO enjoy it, but I don't think you realize how horrifying it makes you seem to many people.

You're just asking for trouble, and playing fast and loose not only with people's lives but with porn as a whole.

Perhaps people should read an essay by someone who knows something about the practice. Please comment again after you've read this -

Jay Wiseman is a long-time member of the S&M community, the author of SM101, a former member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a former American Heart Association instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He has been an instructor in first aid, CPR, and various advanced emergency care techniques for over sixteen years.

From Jay Wiseman's
"The Medical Realities of Breath Control Play"

For some time now, I have felt that the practices of suffocation and/or strangulation done in an erotic context (generically known as breath control play; more properly known as asphyxiophilia) were in fact far more dangerous than they are generally perceived to be.

As a person with years of medical education and experience, I know of no way whatsoever that either suffocation or strangulation can be done in a way that does not intrinsically put the recipient at risk of cardiac arrest. (There are also numerous additional risks; more on them later.)

Furthermore, and my *biggest* concern, I know of no reliable way to determine when such a cardiac arrest has become imminent.

Often the first detectable sign that an arrest is approaching is the arrest itself. Furthermore, if the recipient does arrest, the probability of resuscitating them, even with optimal CPR, is distinctly small. Thus the recipient is dead and their partner, if any, is in a very perilous legal situation. (The authorities could consider such deaths first-degree murders until proven otherwise, with the burden of such proof being on the defendant). There are also the real and major concerns of the surviving partner's own life-long remorse to having caused such a death, and the trauma to the friends and family members of both parties.

Some breath control fans say that what they do is acceptably safe because they do not take what they do up to the point of unconsciousness. I find this statement worrisome for two reasons:

(1) You can't really know when a person is about to go unconscious until they actually do so, thus it's extremely difficult to know where the actual point of unconsciousness is until you actually reach it.

(2) More importantly, unconsciousness is a *symptom*, not a condition in and of itself. It has numerous underlying causes ranging from simple fainting to cardiac arrest, and which of these will cause the unconsciousness cannot be known in advance.

I have discussed my concerns regarding breath control with well over a dozen SM-positive physicians, and with numerous other SM-positive health professionals, and all share my concerns. We have discussed how breath control might be done in a way that is not life-threatening, and come up blank. We have discussed how the risk might be significantly reduced, and come up blank. We have discussed how it might be determined that an arrest is imminent, and come up blank.

INDEED, SO FAR NOT ONE (REPEAT, NOT ONE) SINGLE PHYSICIAN, NURSE, PARAMEDIC, CHIROPRACTOR, PHYSIOLOGIST, OR OTHER PERSON WITH SUBSTANTIAL TRAINING IN HOW A HUMAN BODY WORKS HAS BEEN WILLING TO STEP FORTH AND TEACH A FORM OF BREATH CONTROL PLAY THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO ASSERT IS ACCEPTABLY SAFE -- I.E., DOES NOT PUT THE RECIPIENT AT IMMINENT, UNPREDICTABLE RISK OF DYING. I BELIEVE THIS FACT MAKES A MAJOR STATEMENT.

Other "edge play" topics such as suspension bondage, electricity play, cutting, piercing, branding, enemas, water sports, and scat play can and have been taught with reasonable safety, but not breath control play. Indeed, it seems that the more somebody knows about how a human body works, the more likely they are to caution people about how dangerous breath control is, and about how little can be done to reduce the degree of risk.

In many ways, oxygen is to the human body, and particularly to the heart and brain, what oil is to a car's engine. Indeed, there's a medical adage that goes "hypoxia (becoming dangerously low on oxygen) not only stops the motor, but also wrecks the engine." Therefore, asking how one can play safely with breath control is very similar to asking how one can drive a car safely while draining it of oil.

The rest of his essay can be read HERE, if anyone's interested

I agree completely with SB on this matter. I understand Noel's point, but really... is there such a huge audience out there that want to see authentic choking that it's absence is going to affect your porn sales? What's more... speaking of the audience who buys porn for this specific act alone, I can't see any positive aspect to catering to those desires. Yes... from a legal and idealisitic standpoint, I suppose it is the individual's choice to put themselves at risk, but for the same reason there's no hitting below the belt in boxing, or that the athletes put on 100 lbs of protective gear before they go out and play a football game, real choking should not be a part of porn.

Greg--welcome to the forum. We're thrilled to have you, and I hope you stay around and participate further in our discussions. I wish you would consider eliminating choking from your movies, however. The way I see it, the "benefits" simply aren't enough to justify the risk.

There is no hitting below the belt in boxing presumably because the Marquis of Queensbury decided that that the object of the game was not to punch each other in the testicles but to instead try to knock each other into unconsciousness. Why we should continue to allow people to pummel each other deliberately into unconsciousness in front of an audience, yet ban sexual choking that may inadvertently lead to unconsciousness I can't fathom.

I think real choking is dangerous and would not do it nor would I wish to watch it. Where I disagree is that I would not wish to see it banned.

I just feel there is a real dual standard going on where a dangerous sexual act is treated out of all proportion to a dangerous non-sexual act. In the UK this duality is so gross that a scene from a Private film with a dildo on a broomhandle was banned (the operator was deemed to be too distant from the inserted dildo to ensure safe penetration) whereas kids across the country can watch and emulate Jackass every single day.

Personally, as long as the participants are into the choking, I don't see what's wrong with it. I've seen the scene with Boo and Davis, and after she comes to, she has this look of absolute lust in her eyes and she says to him, "do it again." That, to me, was hot.

However, I find the notion of the girls calling their partners "daddy" to be a far more disturbing thing than I'd ever find the choking.

It's no more disturbing than any other Mark Davis-driven title. There are choking sequences in nearly every flick he does these days, at least the gonzo-y ones, and while I understand why some people find this practice offensive or think it dangerous, I've never gotten the sense while watching Mr. Davis in choke-mode -- with at least 20 girls at this point, in my viewing -- that things were out of control. And Boo really gets off on it. I don't know enough about the medical hazards, but, in this DVD, at least, it's not like the behavior is violent or extreme or sadistic. It's playful. Choking scenes aren't in my Top 5 lists of hot erotic acts to watch. It doesn't excite me to watch Khan Tusion at work. But the scene in queston is pretty freaking hot, because Boo is extraordinarly responsive.

In terms of health risks, I think the aggressive deep-throating that dominates the industry would cause more of an uproar, and be more damaging to the actresses.

It's true that the type of choking that we're talking about is a trademark of Mr.Davis and he's the most requested male performer in the industry so clearly there are quite a few girls who like it. This movie isn't about pushing the envelope or anything. Everything in it is clearly consensual and if the choking aspect of it isnt your thing that's ok. It only occurs in a few scenes but when it does, in my opinion it's extremly hot.
The real focus is on the fantasy apsect of having young girls looking up at you and calling you "Daddy". It's a very tongue in cheek thing but again, I think it's extremely hot.

Mark Davis is NOT one of the leading stars as far as
the 3 local Dayton stores are concerned. And, Mark Davis
is one of five most NEGATIVE male stars.

See List

The approach we are taking in Dayton is if the movie
contains too much rough sex/choking, it is returned
to the distributor for a full refund.

I don't mind Mark Davis at all.
I wish he'd stop shaving his head, and if he's gonna do porn ... drop about 15 pounds, 'cos he does look a little freakish, and he's got a different vibe to him than when he first started out, even from five years ago. But he comes across as one of the smoother and more considerate performers, and the thing is: He's not one of the rough guys. I don't doubt that the girls request him. I suspect they know they'll be treated well.

Nice to see an expert like Jay Wiseman raise a voice of reason on this choking issue. As someone who was a longtime member of the S/M community -- and an acknowleged "edge player" -- long before I became a hardcore porn director, I have been appalled to see the rise of this very dangerous practice in the hands of jaded, exploitative idiots. Just because a girl goes along with something because she's young, stupid on drugs, and quite likely has something of a self-esteem problem to begin with doesn't mean it's truly morally "consensual." THEY don't know the risks. And I daresay with the exception of one or two sick fucks in this biz, the people perpertrating this act don't, either.

The post comparing this to dangerous extreme sports such as mountainclimbing, boxing, etc, is falling back on the usual fatuous, faux-libertatian argument that one can't condemn/outlaw self-destructive behavior. Wrong. Attempted suicide is actually illegal, and so is homicide, or, as it may or not be argued down to when some sad girl ends up dead, 1st or 2nd degree manslaughter.

I am hardly against extreme sex. I am against irresponsible and dangerous acts performed for the sake of selling a few more DVDs than the next guy. This shit is SNUFF FOREPLAY PORN, plain and simple. Firm hands on the neck are one thing, but actual crushing of the windpipe is quite another.

He's #1 on my most negative list. I'm not sure why he got his own serie when there are a lot of better performers out there who deserve their own serie more.

Folks I'm so tired of hearing you guys
bitch & complain on how Mark Davis sucks.
To me, he's one of the top-notch
performer in all of the Adult Industry.
Not many males can compete with this guy.
I should know as I've watched more than
my share of Porn! Please keep your
jealousy on the sidelines & give Mark the
credit he deserves as a Top Performer &
now as a Director.

He's in the XXX Hall of Fame right?

P.S. There's nothing wrong with a little
choking, slapping, spitting, hair-pulling,
spanking, etc.

It's all in Fun right? hehe

This is a provocative topic (the choking ... not Mark Davis, and sorry if I started this thread veering off-topic). Is there any other research, DB, on either side of the question? And are there other industry people with insights, disputes, thoughts on the matter? The last thing I'd want to see is somebody sent to the ER, or worse, but I have never had the impression that anyone in these scenes was in any danger of that (whether in Service Animals or Anabolic titles or this one we're discussing). Heck, the way Belladonna insists on it in Nasty Nymphos, I assumed it was just another part of the hypersexual llifestyle of a porn star: Trained professionals, etc.

If that's really NOT the case, then it does bother me. But like so many other things in porn, how do you really know? And why is this different than those WWF "sleeper holds"?

sorry to go back to the marc davis topic but, plain and simple, i think he sucks. he's a fat goofball and i think he's a louzy performer. the rediculous amount of beating off he has to do before busting his ball snot is absurd, especially when its a gorgeous girl and a hot scene.

Welcome David Aaron Clark. It's good to hear another voice of reason on this issue. I couldn't agree more with this statement:

Den writes:

That's a great approach, Den. Nothing speaks louder than the bottom line, so I'd like to see others following your example.

As for Mark Davis, he used to be okay, but now I can't stand the sight of him. He has degenerated into an idiotic sex offender as far as I'm concerned. It's just sad to see others going down the same road, but hopefully they won't drag the whole industry down with them.

Okay. Now I'm really curious. If Davis isn't one of the top performers, who is? I mean no disrespect to his detractors but many of you don't know how frustrating it is to wait and wait and wait for some meat puppet to achieve what 99% of us would achieve if given the same circumstances: An erection.!!! A disturbing amount of male "talent" seem to leave their erections in the car when the moment of truth arrives. Davis is a guarantee. 99% of the girls request him and to me, that's priceless.
He also has an intuitive knowledge of where the camera is and what the shot should be. He never has "issues" (i.e. Sorry I can't get hard. My Mother died an hour ago)" There is no one I would rather have in front of my camera than Mr.Davis. (That sounds gay doesn't it? I hope you know what I mean). Yes, he's not in the shape he was 5 years ago but neither are you!!!

And yes, I now shoot for Zero Tolerance Entertainment but even when I didn't, Davis was always my top guy.

Questions and comments are always welcome.

Xanax and creative martinis are even more welcome.

The fact that attempting suicide is illegal is just a silly religious hangover. The fact that such a law could be applied to people outside the strictures of religion is a debatable issue in itself and the illegality of suicide is hardly a rational precedent on which to base future legislation.

Porn directors killed Mark Davis by using him in every movie. I can't stand to see the same guy in every movie! I liked Mark Davis when he first started but now I avoid every movie he's in because of the overexposure, mostly his Anabolic overexposure.

I can't wait for his retirement.

I hear you Skronker...

Mod Note: This thread was not originally about Mark Davis... but people don't seem to want to leave him out of what might otherwise be a worthwhile discussion. If anyone has anything else worthwhile to say about choking in porn, please start a new thread with the appropriate subject. I don't see much more to be gained by continuing down the (in some cases well worn) Mark Davis track, though...
