I've had problems in the past and now with certain dvds not playing fully or not even loading at all. This is mostly with RLD/PXP dvds but I've had a handful from other companies like 3rd Degree and even Evil Angel which wouldn't work properly. Those that won't load don't piss me off nearly as much as the ones which depending on how many scenes there are fuck up in #'s 4,5 or 5,6 plus the extras might not fully play such as BTS. How is it that the first 3 or 4 scenes will play perfectly with no glitches but then the last two the picture gets jittery, freezes, unfreezes and finally it might just stop altogether. I'm not a technical person so this is most frustrating when this happens. I usually don't end up reviewing the dvd if this happens and I hate to not review something when it's sent to me. So any idea why this happens, how is a dvd authored at the start and how different is it at the end for those last couple scenes plus extras. I'd think the process would be the same all the way but maybe it's not. Thanks for any input and I'll hopefully be getting a new dvd player in the next month or so but this one's been real good to me since I've had it.  [Link] |

When used a lot, invest in a mechanically solid one. Never in my live did one of my players die: it pays of to invest sometimes ... p_n

| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | Posted - Sep 9 2006 : 11:50AM Evil Angel used to have a problem with this because there was something wrong in the manufacturing process of one of the companies that they used. This problem was taken care of a couple of years ago and I haven't had a problem with an Evil Angel disc since. Since Evil Angel used multiple manufacturers when they were having their problems, they were able to replace the bad discs of anyone who asked. Lately, I've noticed LOTS of discs that are dirty right out of the case. I assume that this is due to the fact that the putting DVD's and the sleeve into the cases is a manual process, not an automated one. I've had very few discs that continue to not play properly after I have cleaned them with a clean cloth. [Link] |

I popped it in the player and nothing happened. I fiddled around for several minutes before I discovered that there was a protective paper sleeve on the data side of the disc. D'OH! [Link] |

I'm talking about dirty fingerprints as if the warehouse worker had just fixed a forklift prior to inserting DVD's into cases and didn't wash his hands in between. [Link] |
