hey guys I noticed that a lot of females are not as opened about Men to admit that they watch Porn, I am a female and I am not ashamed to tell anyone I watch Porn I will show u my collection and everything and tell u my favorite Male and female Performers but I noticed a lot of other women are in the closet about it, I only know a few women that are opened about watching Porn, what most people dont realize is that 50% of Porn is consumed by Females yes Porn is like 50/50 consumed by both men and women, and I read that slowly Porn is gonna be primarily consumed by females over males, the reason being is that women dont have sex or feel like having sex as much as men do, so women get porno flicks and masturbate to Porn Films rather than have sex, Masturbating satifies a womens sex drive easily as oppose to Men who would much rather have sex than Masturbate, so half of the Porn Industry is not only driven by female performers but also female Consumers, thats one of the reasons why a lot of Male Performers with big hung dicks make it big in Porn because Porn Producers and directors are aware of the huge Female Fan base these performers have and the revenue their films get for women buying these flicks, so I dont understand why women dont like to talk about Porn or are ashamed to say they watch Porn I mean a lot of women act like its a drug addiction they are trying to hide, can somone tell me why? when Porn makes 50% of thier Money from female Buyers. ^ First of all, could you please provide a link to your 50% source? The highest I have read is 40%, and that figure is a bit skewed too (no solid source for the figure). Results from internet subscriptions from last year show a tiny percentage are on credit cards with a female name (this figure is from the book A Billion Wicked Thoughts). Which type of study are you referring to? Second, I don't think "ashamed" is the right word for it. Consider what sort of reaction a woman might get if she goes around saying she watches porn. I don't even know men who do that (except in academic contexts, ironically -- they seem to use my research as an excuse to be able to talk openly about porn). If a woman does it, she might be met with unwanted flirtation or expectations on the part of men/women interested in fucking; she might irritate men/women who think she is just trying to get attention for the aforementioned reason; or simply, people might look down on her. I personally only say I watch porn in certain circles who know what my dissertation is about, and I usually don't tell people I study porn if I'm around strangers. The only reason I can openly and semi-comfortably talk about watching porn in any setting is because I research and write about it, so people perceive me as having a "critical distance," and I very often have people query my viewing practices. As in, "You only watch it from an analytical perspective...right?" Edited by - Gore Gore Girl on 6/19/2012 7:10:11 PM

In my experience most men are not comfortable admitting they watch porn as it is so connected to masturbation, which many men are also embarrassed about. The only people I usually have open conversations about in RL are women, as they are more likely to admit and want to talk about it.
^ This kind of connects to what I was saying about critical distance. It's almost as though people expect women to be watching porn for more reasons than just jerking off. For men, it must just be to jerk off. But women are presumed to be less sexual, so when they talk about it, it can be glossed over in some way. I'm not sure exactly how to phrase it.
People tell lies my friend. Some people like publicity. I don't like publicity. 674 Posts 5/11

I think it has to do with conforming to societal pressures and not calling attention to what others may frown upon. Guys can get away with things that women can't get away with that may draw scorn from the public. Women I think are far more sensitive to public opinion and more reluctant to stray from what society terms to be acceptable conduct. When women stray from what is termed proper, they do it secretly and privately. On a similar note, a young man can have multiple sexual partners and not much is thought about it yet if it is known a woman is sleeping around, she is often called derogatory names. Society dictates what goes on, it is gender inequality which bends many different ways.
I have told people that I watch Porn and I dont get any type of Negative response but some men might be shocked to hear that I watch Porn, how can u tell how many Credit Card Holders are Female??? did u go to those Websites to check to see how many Credit Card Holders are Male or female? I dont understand how a women is trying to bring attention to herself if she admits to liking Porn??!!! Porn makes a lot of Money from Females buying it and I think Female fans of Porn are overlooked and not appreciated when we consume just as much if not even more than Men, Most Men are out having sex they would rather have Sex than jerk off to a flick but a women would take masturbation over having sex, its a scientific fact that Men need sex more so than women, Men need sex on average of 3 times a week as oppose to women 4 times a month, so women get by on Masturbating and they Masturbate to Porn Flicks.
well thats kind of strange cause I can only find a few women who are opened and admit to buying Porn, a lot of women I know will lie and say they dont watch Porn but have told me in Private that they watch it, its like a hidden dirty secret for most women, when I am around men they are always talking about thier favorite female Porn Starlet and what Porno Flick they saw their favorite Female Star in, but never can I hear women sit around and talk about who has the best dick in Porn or who is thier favorite male Porn actor.
I agree with most of the posters. The context in which she admits her affinity for porn is the single most defining circumstance. I also agree that if a female is too vociferious in her admission and if she initiates the conversation, especially in mixed gender company, she might suffer some unintended repercussions. Even men, in their conversations in regards to porn usually place it in a joking context and not a serious conversational tone. I think that this indicates that even they are nervous about discussing it in some circles. Sure, I watch (a lot) of porn and freely admit it, BUT first of all I'm posting in a porn forum; secondly my real identity is not known to anyone here and last I'm involved in the sexindustry. Even with all of that, unless I'm in a very open environment with outhers who are in the same boat, I usually don't discuss it.
I agree, most men would not like to admit that they watch xxx movies and then jerk off to them. Although I do it, I would rather have sex with a real woman. But its not always possible. As regards females, years ago it was impossible to get a female to watch a porno with you. Now they seem to like watching them. That is why every young girl these days seems to want to give head. In my young days that hardly ever happened.
^ Most Men would not like to admit they like Porn??? really? what type of men are u hanging around cause all the Men I know are always talking about Porn Starlets they like to watch, even on Youtube u see Men discussing Porn Movies they like to watch but Women arent even bold enough to make a Youtube Video to discuss Porn.
I already provided you with the source: the book, A Billion Wicked Thoughts. It's a massive study of sex-related internet searches and purchasing, with the goal of seeing what male and female interests are. A lot of the conclusions are flawed in my opinion, but that's where the credit card subscription figures were. They drew their conclusions based on the name on the credit card. And now could you provide your source for the 50% figure? I would be most interested in seeing it. Edited by - Gore Gore Girl on 6/20/2012 9:01:50 AM
I wont agree to this..i have learned that women do watch and talk about porn but do it in an extremely discreet manner..you wife or girlfriend may be exchanging and talking porn with all her friends and you will never find out until you make an accidental discovery. Women happen to easily deceive others into believing. On a lighter note - once i woke up late night for a piss and accidentally walked on my mum watching porn. Those days there was no internet or CD/DVD and VHS were the order of the day. Next day, I sort of confronted here in a friendly tone, she smiled back and replied "as if you are stranger to it"?? which raised some giggles. Few days later she slipped me couple of VHS to use when I am strictly "home alone". Later I discovered a secret treasure trove of 30 porn VHS hidden in our home. Whenever I got my hands on a good porn flick, I would hide it at a designated place behind the TV and let her know that the "documentary" has arrived. I also know that she exchanged porn VHS with two other women in the neighborhood. The best flick I watched from her collection was called "Japayuki Pure Love Vol 1 & 2" and I still search the internet for them. It was small industry Philippino porn but absolutely cute girls and all real uncut action with lot of emotional chemistry.
While jadablaze is digging up her notes, I will clarify the information I cited, which is pretty interesting. While *paid* porn sites are overwhelmingly subscribed to by men (only 2% of credit cards for one major site had female names on them), the stats for *free* porn are less overwhelming (though still more men than women), leading the researchers to conclude that men are simply more willing to pay for porn than women. In addition, porn lit sites are much more frequently visited by women than visual porn sites. This replicates the old chestnut that "men are visual" etc. Other studies have shown women are aroused by all manner of visual stimuli, however, so I think turning to cultural factors might explain a bit about why women usually (actively) look for non-visual sexual stimuli. The writers of the study seem determined to prove that cultural factors have little to do with desires, which is irritating.
I remember reading a porn website saying that when they received a credit card charge when the card holder was female, they automatically flagged it as potential fraud. This was was due to their experience of having angry wives or mothers claiming charge back from unauthorised use from their sons etc. It's true, hardly any women pay for porn. And hardly any women are found openly posting on regular porn forums. As for how many of them watch it secretly, i dont know. I freely admit to waching porn in conversation and my friends also admit to it to. Perhaps its an issue when you are 50-60yrs but it has no stigma when you are a young man.
I'm a woman who likes to watch porn, but its not something I talk about a lot. For me its a private thing for me to watch and enjoy, depending on the sex and the scenes involved. Not big on Anal or some of the rough stuff depending on the woman or women in the scene. If she genuninly gets off on it or is a little bit dominant herself then it doesnt bother me as much, but if she doesnt enjoy it then I stop watching it. Edited by - Kezza on 6/28/2012 6:07:47 AM

why are u people acting like Porn Websites is the only way to buy Porn?, DVDs still sell people still go to the nearest XXX shop or red light district to purchase Flicks.

The limited info we have suggests not many women buy online porn. Hard info is difficult to come by, hence speculation and theorizing is rife. We can do this forever if you like. Or..... You obviously have had intimate conversations with people directly related to this topic. Maybe you can think of a way of subtly approaching these matters with them. I know this topic is something we are all interested in learning about.

Women don't write like teen age boys - "what type of men are u hanging around cause all the Men I know are always talking about Porn Starlets they like to watch".

I'm not going to argue the toss with you as you seem intent on disputing just about anything anyone says in this thread. But the rest of my post still stands.
Maybe it's just the women YOU are around who are ashamed to admit they watch porn. In my experience, there's not shame in it at all. There are a lot of women who just don't watch porn because it is and has always been marketed to men only and women are made to feel like it's 'a guy thing' and in order for it to be acceptable for women to watch it has to have soft lighting and a romantic plot. However there are a lot of women who watch all types of porn and are not ashamed to admit it. I've taken classes in university about the porn industry filled with women who talk freely about the porn they watch and what they like and dislike about it. My friends and I talk freely about porn and what type we find arousing. and I don't know if you've ever heard of tumblr or twitter, but there are thousands of women on there who talk and chat about porn and make gifs and share clips. There are women(some are teenagers lol, but a lot of them are older as well) who run blogs about porn. Women talk about porn all the time on the internet. Just because there's not a lot of women on this particular site doesn't mean anything.
I actually had that experience recently. I admit I did feel a little shy about giving my credit card info to a porn site, but I got over it quickly. I have never felt shy about purchasing or renting DVDs or videos (I'm old enough to remember the first video rental stores) though. I do remember when video stores had tags on the adult films that you would hand to the clerk, so you didn't have to ask for the film by name. I was grateful for that.
Because women have been shamed in this society for liking sex for a long time. If a woman ever dares to love sex as much as a man does, she's either a victim or something evil (depending on who you ask). Either way, a woman who loves sex never chose this for herself according to the vast majority of society. She was abused. She uses drugs. There must be an explanation. Women aren't supposed to love sex. Unfortunately, life is long and most people have been abused in some way. Almost everyone tries drugs of some kind. So these people can always claim they're right and it's just about impossible to prove something like this is a coincidence. Guess how much funding and positive publicity a serious scientist or scholar will get if he/she sides with the porn industry? Edited by - randomprecision on 12/27/2012 9:41:53 PM

A very interesting subject. I tend to hang with a group of twenty-somethings, both male and female. They are all extremely open about sexuality and all openly admit to viewing porn. The key difference I note between the sexes is that the males all say that they do not pay for porn (and have never paid for porn!) whilst the females will buy their porn from an adult store. Interestingly, the females are better at identifying specific porn stars or porn production companies (Kink, DP, Elegant Angel and Evil Angel are all known to them) and show greater interest in attending porn conventions than the males. A small sample no doubt, but the impact of greater access to porn and the tube sites on the younger generation is evident.
CCBill run this system of flagging female name credit cards as potential fraud. But I don't think they do it for every paysite they process for as they process for several sites which are primarily aimed at women and some others which are known to attract a significant number of female members. There is even one lesbian owned website that uses CCBill which has actually considered denying men membership by banning male named credit cards. However CCBill process payments for literally thousands of adult sites and overall they estimate that only about 1 in 50 membership purchases is made by a woman. But that could be an underestimate. It is not always possible to tell the gender of the cardholder. Many cards are issued with no gender identifying title on them and just an initial and a surname. Some companies even issue cards with just a surname on them. There are also quite a lot of people who have unisex names like Lesley, Jesse, Cameron, Evelyn etc. Also the prevailing belief that very few women buy porn could be used by any woman who wants to cheat the system and get her porn for nothing. A woman who charges back on an adult paysite claiming that her scummy husband used her credit card without her permission is far more likely to be believed than a man who claims his wife used his card without his permission.
Social norms, many girls who like to have anal sex (for real) don't like to say it either, because people assume that they are whores if they admit it (sadly enough)
I am not sure about exact numbers, could easily be the circles I travel in nowadays, but it seems to me that MORE women watch porn than men do, at least the ones I associate with. Part of my theory is this, once a guy gets off he is done, but often times the woman doesn't get off and wants to keep on going. The female orgasm is remarkable, the feeling I would imagine is more intense than a males orgasm. Women have the ability to keep on experiencing it where men generally do not.
