I can only name a couple of feature films that have cast a man as the lead role. Now, maybe I am alone in this, but I find it easier to imagine myself as being involved in the sexual adventure when it is a story that revolves around the male. Porn and even films in general are always more entertaining when the viewer can relate to the lead character, for me anyway, so doesn't it make more sense to have a male for the male audience? There was no contract girl system back then though, and no cable tv or the internet. Money and increased popularity changed the game though. Still more modern guys like Evan Stone, Eric Masterson, Brad Armstrong, Nick Manning, Dale Dabone, and especially Randy Spears, often play strong male leads whenever they are cast in a feature. Randy Spears has been carrying films for decades, again he just doesn't get the billing or the spotlight because he's not supposed to be the star, the women are. Unless the male lead is a guy who can attract attention like the notorious John Holmes once did, I think the leads, especially the top billing, should go to the women.
