O/T, but I'm confused. Written law is one thing, enforcement is another. How it's defended is still yet another. Even after reading the words, this area is still vague to me.

And I still don't see why the nature of the executive body is a problem since laws must be written and ratified before they can be enforced. He ships movies to a store via Stockholm, well Sweden has exactly the same system. Movies are rated by the Swedish National Board of Film Censors, which is definitely a government body. So it is in Finland (Finnish Board of Film Classification), the UK (British Board of Film Classification) etc. etc. How strictly classifications are applied depends on the general legislation on depiction of sex, violence and exploitation in movies.

In Norway, the legislation has been such that (wiki-quoting): "Hardcore material has for long been illegal de jure, but legal in practice, that is, illegal to produce, distribute and sell, but legal to possess. One may e.g. acquire it abroad, on the internet, or via satellite TV. (...) After the Supreme Court on 7 December 2005 unanimously acquitted a former magazine editor for publishing unobscured hardcore pornography in 2002, however, it is understood that printed hardcore pornography is no longer illegal." I think this is a hopelessly conservative legislation, but it is moving in the right direction (ref. the supreme court ruling). And I can buy any porn I like to, bar child-porn, from whatever website I like to and it goes smoothly through customs every time. So I have full access to buy anything from your catalogue TonyC, I can buy it from your webstore or from any other webstore. Thus I don't really see how my individual liberties, or that of the public, are restricted much in practice.

Oh and by the way, in 1981 Sweden banned Mad Max.

Why would you say in the USA only ?
This forum is visited by people from all over the world, and most of them are male. So on the basis of this fact you could tell that in every country only few women watch porn. This forum is like a reflection of people who like to watch porn.
But anyway i would like to know if it's true or not (topic).

Yes in live in The Hague but The Hague is far from conservative, I mean it's not Staphorst besides, I thought most women just bought adult stuff from online stores like Christine LeDuc and the reason why they don't visit adult-bookstores is because they don't want to be oggled by a bunch of dirty old men in raincoats ;-)

@ramsey - I was sure, that your werent living in Amsterdam.
Maybe I have an extreme subjective point of view, because three of my best girlfriends were porn stars ( 1 from Color Climax, 2 from Seventeen )
and are - of course - still watching porn.
But even other girlfriends watch and collect porn.
But all of the women are only interested in Seventeen, sometimes the old Teenage Classics from CCC etc. Almost none watch US porn and hate german porn.

Apart from my personal "cocoon", I see much more women renting/buying porn DVD/VHS. But it declined, when I was first in Amsterdam, 1994, it was really "in" for young females to watch Seventeen porn movies at partys or browse through the magazines. The girls now are much more conservative. Laws were changed and Seventeen is now almost as dull as most US porn.
As a born german, I was very astonished reading the old dutch and danish Teen Sex Magazines, they had many articles (!) in there, about feminism, the Vietnam war and relationship problems.

Men with raincoats, I laughed when I read this, I only saw these in Germany, never here in NL. ;-)

I skimmed this, so I apologise if this sounds dumb, but I don't understand the MPAA thing. For example, are you saying that you could take a child to see a horror movie at the cinema?

In the US you can show your kid anything you want to or someone else kid with parental consent except porn.

And depending on the prosecutor you may end up in trouble showing a minor even your own kid an “R” rated movie with strong sexually content and nudity.

And of course it’s all right to show women raped and murdered even on TV if there’s no nudity.

Killing is good/sex is bad. It’s the American way

It's been a while, but if you're referring to me I think the point was that the net result is an age limit whether it's done one way or the other. and that therefore the constituency of the rating body is of more academical than practical interest.

It's the sifting through the shit and the hate. If pornographers could clearly label the I Hate Women movies and the Shitty Comps more women would watch porn.

So much women-unfriendly porn out there, and I don't just mean the overtly misogynistic sort, that it's hardly worth the time and effort to find any that is appealing.

I have a mind and a good imagination, if I really need exciting images, all I have to do is close my eyes.

How did the "i hate women" porn get so popular ? Why do so many men fantasize about women being treated like shit ?

In reading Bukowski and this forum my guess is that some men are really angry that women don't have sex with them. During puberty when they most want sex they get rejected and get angry about it.

There are also a lot of short men who make porn. Sorry short men, but there is a complex.

Caroline,

If you read the other threads here, you will eventually put it together. American porn has degenerated into vile, vicious mauling where girls are not just fucked, but abused. And if you look at the postings, most of the guys here don't like it. If many guys don't like it, you have to figure most women sure won't, either.

People watch porn for the vicarious experience. Who the hell would want to go through what girls are experiencing on film these days?

Well..those are some of the reasons I was thinking about but I do know ALOT of men who are tall and who have sex frequently ...and they prefer to see a woman mistreated. I also know many short guys , myself included , who haven't had the easiest time picking up women ...yet they like the more positive aspects of porn. I prefer to see porn where there is lots of lust and intensity minus the roughness. Nastiness can be good too but it doesn't necessarily have to be done in a negative way.
In any case , I guess it all comes down to what sells.

By the way , is max hardcore short ? :o)

Yes, Max is short. I wasn't being serious about the short thing though. I'm sure mothers, brain chemistry, and sexual experience all have an influence on the male sexual psyche.

The "short thing" may well be true and a contributing factor.

I just happen to be that rare and beautiful thing, an exception to the rule.

@ordell

women treated badly in US Porn ? Have you ever seen german porn movies ? Oh god, they are much more women disgrading. Some of the producers are hating women more, than the
german tax authorities.

Apart from Max Hardcore, I wouldnt say that the sex is very hard in US porn, but the language is. The language is terrible, insulting, degrading, primitive.
The germans are really masters in this, they turn soft dutch titles, like " schoolgirls first love " into
" dirty slavewitches fucked into all holes ".

And the -gangbang- movies arent friendly either, I dont have anything against gangbangs, but the repeated "slut ! witch ! dirt ! slave ! " is really getting on my nerves.

I don't watch much new porn. It's either too disgusting or too vanilla/boring (IMO). I find myself ff'ing through most of the sexual circus sideshow acts of recent porn. Most of my favorites are from the 70's-mid 90's.

Exactly. I enjoy erotic stories much more than porn movies.
