I was looking at a a list of credits for some current stats and they crank out a lot of product each year. I mean a lot! I remember when you'd get maybe 15 or 20 films a year from actresses. I just was curious as to what's different today than say the 80's or 90's. I mean it was a treat to get something from Tori Wells back in the day.

I think there are several reasons. But first it must be pointed out that this isn't true of every girl. That said...I think there are just so much more porn being shot. Most of it isn't for major studios but smaller sites. There are so many smaller sites cranking out content and girls with there own sites. Also, I think more girls are aware that they have a more limited shelf life in porn than the girls in the past so they tend to want to keep pumping stuff out while they're on a roll. Another thing we're seeing is with the age of the contract girl you don't see many girls with a studio taking care of them and guiding their careers and output. Lastly, I believe today's girls have to pump out more scenes to make a decent amount of money. For a lot of pornstars they supplement their income with side activities and porn just fuels those side gigs. I think a lot of today's girls don't strip or strip often and/or the other obvious stuff so they need to do more porn to make a living.

It's a good question but you could have added your views to see if others agree with you. The simple answer is that the technology that existed back then was such that it greatly limited the ways people viewed porn and it also limited the options producers had to make that porn. In the 80's producers had the option of still shooting on celluloid like their 70's counterpart or they could now shoot on video. The main advantages to video is that it was significantly less expensive than celluloid, it did not require as much knowledge to film content as celluloid cameras did, it was easier to edit and it was easier transfer to a video format for home use. That's why you had more porn shot in the 80's than in the 70's.

The video technology kept improving to the point where video cameras got smaller, better and cheaper so that meant more people could afford to shoot porn. At the same time the medium used to view that porn got cheaper and better with the introduction of the DVD. Before that most people rented their movies because buying a porn VHS was often simply too expensive but a DVD wasn't. Of course all of these changes culminated with the arrival of the internet where you didn't need a VHS or DVD player to view your porn but a computer with access to the internet.
