Running Mozilla Firefox....

When I go to this
topic, I get 2 prompts for the password for http://127.0.0.1 (hey, isn't that me? ) Why is that? It doesn't appear in any other topic I've tried. I browsed the source real quick and didn't see 127 in the text....

BTW - I get the same prompt with IE6 as well....

i'm not sure i totally understand the situation but it's beyond weird for that addy, which is your loopback/localhost under ipv4 freaks out on one thread.are you using a vpn and win2000? can you update your av software, because a bunch of nasty stuff is associated with those numbers sometimes, i think maybe blaster did off the top of my head.

I am using Windows XP Pro. I have VPN installed but it is currently not active.

More info, even more strange. I found this prompt in yet another topic. One thing in common was posts by GonzoAnalFan, and I noticed that his avatar was not visible. I looked at the HTML source and found the link to his avatar and I cut-and-pasted the link into the browser address field. I was able to view the avatar. Then when I went back to the page, I no longer got the 127.0.0.1 prompt, and the avatar was then visible (probably due to being in my cache). The originally cited page also displays without the prompt and with the avatar viewable.

It seems one of the IMG tags in Fumetto's post re: Selen is funky.

Perhaps that's causing Firefox to do odd things. IE just skips over it.

i think earl's right about it being fummetto's icon. strangely firefox worked fine for me, i had to check it out deliberately to find what was broken on the page.
