Why? Part of it is selling the part. Guys want porn stars that are whole hearted about it. I imagine some want porn stars that are forced into it, but that is another issue.

Its a way to deal with derogatory terms.

If a porn actress calls herself slut the term looses some of its derogatory power.

This doesn't mean producers or companies shall call them sluts. If Max calls a girl slut its derogatory if a girl calls herself slut its fine.

and, by the way, i don't see anything wrong with being a slut or whore as long as it's consensual sex and no one is getting hurt or being forced to do anyhting they don't want.

also, guys are just as much sluts or whores as girls are.

Though I do not know any of the pornstars in person, judging from reading their posts and interviews, I say they are more likely to be offended by things like "hypocrite""double dealer""back stabber" etc. than "whore" or "slut".

I think most porn "whores" are generally decent people but some young ones are really confused.(It just cracked me up, Missy Monroe and her porn-roommate fighting over a man....)

The idea behind this self-degradation is suppose to be to "take the sting out" of others, in the non-porn world, using these terms against female porn performers. [Hey, why don't the guys publicly call themselves "degenerate losers"?]

Anyway, as those of you who stayed awake during Sociology 101, or who may have lived in a black neighborhood can attest, back-in-the-day many Blacks used the "N" word in greeting each--justifying their behavior by saying it renders the racist insult meaningless. Today, with the exception of gangsta rappers, using the "N" word isn't viewed as acceptable in the Black Community.

As more confident women enter porn (remember most porn girls are 18 or 19 years old), calling herself a "slut" and "whore" will, also, become less prevalent. The girls' inner confidence will be enough to "protect" her from outside insults--and "beating the Insulter to the punch" won't be necessary.

The terms "whore" and "slut" are merely words. It's the relationship of the people using these terms that determines the context.

Porn has been around since the invention of the camera, these "terms" have been around for even longer. Don't expect them to go away any time soon.

The sexually-active teen girl of today is very different from when I was going to school. Back then, a girl was considered a slut (which was bad) if she slept with lots of guys, or if she was indescriminate about who she had sex with. We'd progressed to the point where a girl wasn't considered slutty just because she was sexually active. It was okay if she did it with her boyfriend, particularly if they were known as a couple by everybody. It was the girl that simply wanted to fuck, and didn't care who, that was the slut.

Today, sexually active girls (as young as 12) are proud of the number of blowjobs they've given, or the number boys and/or girls they've played with. In fact, the virgins and the monogomous girls are ridiculed as "babies" by the slutty girls. "Slut" is now a label a girl strives to earn. "Whore" still seems to be reserved for only negative use, though. Many of today's teens are striving to outdo each other in both quantity and variety.
