It seems like most official websites of adult stars suck. I'm mainly talking about the award winning stars who seem to be amazing in every film they star in. Just think of ten stars you really like, and then go to their official websites. I bet most of them will have really old updates, be under construction, or be one of those on demand clones. The less popular actresses usually won't even have a website at all. It just seems odd to me that these girls don't care about making some extra money on the side. I guess it makes sense that most pornstars wouldn't be entrepreneurs, it's probably easier to just go to bangbros or whatever and just make some quick cash. Maybe they don't know their fans would support them if they were offering good exclusive content? I'm wondering if I'm alone in this? Does anybody know of any good official websites of top stars? I was just a member at enterbelladonna.com, and I thought it had some great content. Belladonna's official website let's you see what you're getting before you even signup, and it seems like she updates pretty often.

Why do some porn stars have horrible websites?
Lack of talent, lack of interest, lack of time, lack of a good business partner... you name it, somebody has probably gone through it.

Most of the bigger stars have absolutely no input on their sites, anyway. It's all recycled shit from their movies and various photo sets. If they actually invested their time and put some effort into personalizing it, they could have better products on their hands.
In my opinion, if I were to join a porn star's web site, I'd like to see things that I can't see from every video she ever starred. I'd want to see the homemade stuff, the real sex... the real pics. I'd want her to write in a journal and let us know what she's been up to, do cam shows, really personalize it.
Truth be told... most porn stars don't even have a say in their website. It costs less than $10 for someone to buy a dot com, and you can pick up content from almost any actress and slap together a site and label it "official".
These days, selling porn is a lot more difficult than it was 10 years ago. You can't half ass it... and the majority of these porn chicks are.

The main reason is money, most porn stars can not post scenes they are on their websites they do own the content, so in order to make money they would have to shoot new stuff and it just too expensive / competitve.

Usually because they don't want to put forth the effort, time and work! There are exceptions like Vicky Vette, Mariah Milano and a few others. Usually the Pornstars that cater to the fans. Most would rather just escort, easy work, not much effort or work and big cash!

I made the mistake of joining a few pornstar sites when I started surfing for porn and not a single one of them was worth the money I paid for it. There may be some that are worth it but like Swirlie said, if I join a pornstars site, then I expect to see content that's not available elsewhere and it has to include things that she hasn't done elsewhere. There should be regular updates. One new scene a week is not likely to keep existing customers and also makes it hard to get new ones.
You need money to make money so even if a pornstar has complete control of her site and is fully involved in it's day to day operations. How many of them have enough money saved to survive long enough to make their site viable? You need someone to design your site, you need access to some good servers, you need a recognized credit card processor, you need to pay the talent that will apear with you(unless your doing solo stuff), you have to pay for the filming equipment, you have to pay for a director, you have to pay for an editor, and there must be hundreds of other little things that require payment. How many thousand of dollars will a pornstar have to pay just to do the above and then keep doing it for months and possible years before she gets enough money to be able to pay for all her bills from the profit made by her site. If you are working all the time on your site then you can't work for other companies and that's lost income.

Valid points all. Check out Vannah Sterling as it is a) all exclusive content b) she does have stuff she hasn't done for other people and c) she's a total slut bucket.

I agree with Pat362. I joined too some sites (Taylor Rain and Aurora Snow, to name a few) and it was just crap inside. The only two sites I know that are really honest are Bella Donna's and Annette Schwarz's ones.

All you need do is look at the updates. Aurora Snow has no updates... duh. Taylor Rain updates are just ancient pics from the internet.

The same reason there is so much crappy porn out there, some content providers just don't care.

One performer told me that she is upset that the company that does her website keeps adding more and more sites to the network her site is on. She doesn't see a dime when someone joins another site on the network other than hers, yet those members of other sites on the network have complete access to her site. Thus, there went all of her enthusiasm to shoot new content just for her site. I hope I told her gently that she's probably taking the wrong attitude about that, but I definitely told her that I hope she will take her domain name somewhere that will do her site exactly how she envisions it once her current contract runs out.

I agree, or they don't take the time to keep them updated, it really sucks!

^Since I don't know which performer you were talking to then I can't comment on that particular one but lets take the case of Lexi belle. Her official site is handled by a company called Premium Multimedia Inc. You get access to 25 other sites when you join her site. The number of site with one membership increased by one earlier this year when they added Ann Marie rios to the network. There is one new update a week from Lexi but that could be simple solo scene to maybe a G/G shoot or even just an interview. The price of the membership is 29.95$ or 19.95$ if you know where to look. Now I don't know how many people are die hard Lexi fans but how many would be willing to dish out at least 20$ each month for solo and g/g content? Some of the sites on the network aren't even updating with new content so the webmaster has to add new sites to the network just to keep existing customers or get new ones.
I think that if you are updating then you should get money because your site is helping the company make money. I think it would be fair if you get a part of the profit relevant to the traffix your site generates for the network.

^ I assume you were replying to me. Actually, if you join that network by the year, instead of by the month, the cost per month comes down to less than $7.50 a month. And Brandy Talore is also on that network now.
Some of those performers get their site started, and then soon afterward go into full or semi retirement. Others are just more used to being hired than to booking a location, crew, and any costars. Others just realize that they could easily spend far more for even a solo scene than they are getting in their royalty checks, and decide the economics just don't work for them.
It increasingly seems like there is no middle ground in North American based internet porn. It's either content that may not be that fresh or good, but a whole lot of it, by god, and for one low price, or it's a niche, perhaps even a custom made clip, on clips 4 sale for about a dollar a minute.
