E.g., First month is $9.95 - $19.95, but second month and thereafter will be $29.95. How does this make economic sense? My view is that the value I get from the site will decline over time -- I've watched or downloaded the content I'm most interested in the first month. The value to me of additional months is less than the first month. So why charge more? Instead, I typically cancel after one month and rotate to another site to pick up its first-month deal. But if a site keeps the price level at $9.95 every month, I'm more inclined to keep my subscription. Just wondering if others see it differently or know why the most companies price their sites to increase after the first month. [Link] |

The automatic deduction on their credit card statement reminds them but even if the website only gets one additional payment. it's still a bonus to them. |

Seems like a great solution for situations such as this. They can raise the second month to $99.99 and re-bill to their hearts content-- but it'll get them nowhere. |
