You have guys like JulesJordan, Anabolic, Diabolic, Evil Angel complaining about Internet piracy and p2p piracy (constantly adding new methods, watermarks etc.. to prevent this) while studios such as Red Light District, Elegant Angel, Legend license their videos to other websites for Inter for dirt cheap prices via adultlegal.com ??? I don't understand this. Why would a studio not want to keep their content exclusive and get more DVD sales then overexposing it by putting it on the Internet?

Hey dion, do you know something about this site?

I once went inside and noticed you could download every scene from every movie listed, including RLD movies.

The thing that bugs the fuck out of me is the other day I get a mail catalog in my mail, <duh>. I flip through the pages because hey I'm curious, every other, and just about every picture they use are boxcover grabs from Red Light District. DVDs I know I have, but just using the picture, and some abstract comments to describe the "films"

But if I had both, I’d be bored and rich.”

Dion,

First off, fantastic job with all your movies. They rock!

AdultLegal licenses the WHOLE DVD and everyone puts up the WHOLE dvd in their paysites AND free sites. You can see the license on their website and it doesn't say anything about only using clips. Just like Ramsey says, there are sites that feature your entire collection, and according to them, it's all legal. I have even seen websites RESELL the content as a plugin to other webmasters not sure if they licensed via adultlegal or have a deal with you.

I think you were misinformed of the licensing and thus your content is now all over the Internet. It will be virtually impossible to police now anything that's already been sold/encoded but I would strongly advise you to sever this deal as IMHO for all future content and monitor it, as it's devaluing your content severely.

Seems to me there is a fine line between devaluing content and generating interest. If not for the Internet, I wouldn't even know that many of my favorite performers exist.

Sales have been increased, then, because I want to check out more scenes featuring a particular performer, or view an entire scene rather than something someone hacked to pieces and posted.

I would use a pay site if it were possible to get a movie in its entirety as a DVD-compliant MPEG-2 stream, though. What would stop me from 'sharing' said video stream with others? Laziness. But others would do so and obviously already are. Anyone with enough tech savvy knows how to get around everything they can do to protect these products.

So it's a Catch-22. You want people to know your product exists, that you have this hot new starlet whose name you want to get out, and the Internet facilitates such promotion quickly, easily and cheaply. I wonder how many people heard of Amee Donavan before she started posting here versus now? Man, Amee's got a nice ass...

Hmmm? Oh...sorry...I got distracted.

Uh, yeah, so I think there's a real opportunity here for an Internet business model that keeps everybody happy while reducing the amount of piracy. Hopefully, some of the kinks (chuckle) are being worked out even as the new music services and whatnot gather steam.

I run my own webserver, since 1996, and I'm not using it to its full potential. If I could figure out a way to be an online distributor of video or other content for someone like RLD, I'd go for it in a heartbeat. But, so far, because of questions like these, and the ways some webserver owners have taken advantage of them, I don't blame them for not jumping in with both feet.

It's a problem, no doubt. So what have I added to the discussion? Not much. Think I'll shut up and go read some reviews or something.

For one month I was a member of deluxepass.com for $19.95 a month. I can tell you they had a comprehensive inventory of whole scenes from movies, in addition to several whole movies. I always wondered how the original movie companies made any money from this small membership fee.
I can also tell you that, once downloaded from the site, I can easily share these files for free through filesharing programs like iMesh and KazaaLite, although I'm not insinuating that I have engaged in these practices. If the porn companies don't know much about these practices (although I'm pretty sure it's not as rampant as the music file sharing or mainstream movie file sharing), they should perhaps have someone look into it.

I see alot RLD on gbf-archive and x-archive.com

I've joined one of them for about one month to check gbf-archive.
www.gbf-archive.com ,has almost all movies from RLD on the site in their members area. New sensations, anabolic, Metro and many more. this was the most intresting i've ever seen. They even have some kind of watermarks in their movies with their own url. x-archive has also alot red light district with some kind of watermarks in it.
Here is my short list.

cobalt60 > there's one thing to advertise your product on the Internet and it's another thing to give it away for very low prices to basically your competition. Would RLD sell their rights for Breakin'Em In to Anabolic so Anabolic can sell the same identical scenes as them? Heck no! So why would they do it online. It baffles me.

assluvr69 > true. why buy a DVD for $20 when you can download all 50+ RLD for $19.95 ?

JWNL > I've seen stuff from JulesJordan, Metro, Anabolic and others on that site. He even blatantly says 'Jules does a great job showing off her ass' etc.. in his descriptions!

MOD NOTE:

I understand the good intentions here, but I feel that this line of discussion is counterproductive in the sense that what this thread is doing is providing a conglomeration of public links to sites that, according to dion, are operating outside the scope of their agreement. This kind of thing, although well intentioned, I think should probably not be handled in a public forum. I'm all for developing an anti-piracy system, but I'm afraid this is doing more harm than good in that it's providing advertising for the sites in question. As no real concrete confirmation of shady activity has been given here, I'm going to leave the thread as it is, but I would encourage the participants, if they're interested in continuing the discussion, to do it in a more private way.

Mike L.,
I agree but I'm just trying to bring this to Dion's attention. Those sites do believe they are legally allowed to put up RLD, Legend and Elegant Angel.

I really appreciate all this feedback, I will be changing this deal real soon, I will allow only to see clips from my movies and I will deal direct with these webmasters, they will not be able to show the whole movie, just clips.

Thanks Dion

Hey Dion, I hope you can win your battle against these pirates but it's not gonna be easy because most of them don't give a shit and to my knowledge there's no law that can't stop them?

Let us know how it turns out.

Sure there is. DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) for those that steal content. This might be an issue of a misworded license. I read the AdultLegal license that covers these videos and it only talks about promo material restrictions, not about not being able to use the entire DVD. If that's the case and RLD wanted something out of the license but it wasn't quite specified, there's about nothing they can do about already licensed material but they can choose to change the license for future use, or to simply remove future licenses.

The fact remains though that probably 95% of all the sites that offer RLD movies for example don't have any license, that's why you often see messages like "company *** contacted us...yadda yadda, so we had to remove their movies"

So they cut the movie in pieces and put all the movies online.
I've readed another message on another board about gbf-archive. It seems they have or had even hustler, Devils Film, and many other studios online as well.

How is the progress anyway Dion?
