What are the common scenarios? A new boyfriend who isn't down? Guilt? Family problems? Celestial visitation by winged angels shaking their fingers "no"? It almost seems as though some girls take a McDonald's approach..."naw...I don't want to work here anymore, I think I'll find another job." All of a sudden the cutest girl at the drivethru is gone!! But no it's realer. It's not like the turnover at strip clubs, those girls can disappear on you by just dancing at a different club and you never see them again. Porn stars evaporate. [Link] |

He'd already knew she was a pornstar, so why get her to retire, when if the guy wouldn't have even known about her if she wasn't doing porn? |

They could be all gun-ho about it at the beginning and all it takes is one little thing, a sleezy fan at a convention, an asshole director, producer co-star anything and they'll pack their bags as quick as the unpacked them to start with |

That might not be relevant at present because of the economy, but when and if it turns around, I wonder... I know that as time goes on, and especially since the birth of the internet, a higher and higher percentage of girls are growing up actually seeing porn. In fact, the young starlets now were born in the early 90's, some of them may have seen internet porn at 8 or 9. I think when the 00's girls start rolling up to the porn industry in 2018 there might be a boom of girls wanting to try it. Of course, this might just result in just having more numerous fly-by-night starlets because the industry isn't living up to the fantasy. |

| Fergus Member Oh yeah... boot me, baby 276 Posts 12/06 | The bit quoting the director I was thinking of: "Some girls are used in nine months or a year. An 18-year-old, sweet young thing, signs with an agency, makes five films in her first week. Five directors, five actors, five times five: she gets phone calls. A hundred movies in four months. She's not a fresh face any more. Her price slips and she stops getting phone calls. Then it's, 'Okay, will you do anal? Will you do gangbangs?' Then they're used up. They can't even get a phone call. The market forces of this industry use them up." I expect things aren't very different now. Supposedly there's less work now. When I read articles like that I realise how little porn I am aware of compared to how much is produced. Almost everything I buy is from a major studio and I buy it for one or two or maybe three stars who are familiar to me and have a career of a at least a few years. I'm really only aware of those twenty or thirty favourites. But there are apparently hundreds (perhaps thousands) of girls every year or two who show up, make only a few scenes or maybe last for 50-100 in very quick succession, then disappear again without ever crossing my radar. Smaller studios, cheaper productions etc, maybe. |

I suppose the more porn stars there are, the shorter the average career length is going to be. It stands to reason. Back in the classic days, there were comparatively only a handful of starlets. So therefore there wasn't as much premium on a fresh face. The more faces there are, the less dependent the audience is on each individual girl. Of course, MILFdom and cougardom somewhat mitigate this effect, but it looks like longevity is going to permanently suffer. Edited by - ControlFreak on 7/22/2011 6:41:50 PM |

Nina Hartley is a great example of a woman who has done very well in this industry for a long time. I think a lot of it has to do with the female performer in terms of her goals and if she's really wanting to make a career out it. It's like when you're new and hot you're in demand but there is risk of over exposure. If a female performer has certain assets that commands an audience and compensation then chances are she could stick around for a while. I know that the industry is run by men but I don't think they totally get it in terms of always bringing in new talent. They should have a draft like professional sports, lol (can you imagine the Adult Film Industry Draft or even better the combine drills). That's why professional sports are so competitive, they control the talent that's allowed in the leagues instead of just flooding the market with a bunch of sub-par talent. Nothing wrong with telling a person no we don't think you're going to workout. I bet if I asked every guy in this forum who his favorite athlete of all time was he'd be able to tell me. Same thing with porn stars, everyone has a favorite. When a girl has been out for a while they should "repackage" her in compilations featuring that star instead of fans having to buy a bunch of DVDs just to see the one girl you purchased the DVD for in the first place. |
| ClayraBeau Member 659 Posts 2/10 | Others get into a relationship where the S.O. is cool with it in the past, if it stays in the past, so they drop out. A few, like I did, just find better paying work doing something else. In my case, I teach painting, though I'm still shooting here and there when it comes up. A couple find Jesus. One or two get freaked by a family or friend reaction. In the end, girls leave the biz because they want to. It isn't like we get paid residuals, so we aren't seeing the crazy money the studios pull in. We don't even see the money the smaller producers pull in. For us it's very mercenary. Get in, make some cash, get out and remember to pay your taxes. |

Most strong one is webcam sites yuo know. Performars can do ýt from theri home, no long trvels or big studios needed , its more easy to do. Costumars can talk and play with them directly its a really big deal. Porn future is going t there ý think. And as ý see porn ýndustry is going more and more hardcore and extreme. They are trying the serve new things others dont do. Ýn total its makes for male or female performes work condidtions harrder. So they dont contunie this job much longer. The reasons ý see are them . |
