I suspect he has a better margin on DVDs and the only way to match it with VOD is to insist on a Pay-Per-View fee schedule as opposed to a pay per minute. i.e. AEBN has Ass Worship 10 down as a "premium" title which means when PPM is available, the movie "consumes minutes at 3.0 times the rate." And the 7 or 30 day options are $21.95 (which is only 2 bucks less than the cheapest retail DVD at the moment...)
I've read posts in this forum from supposed "insiders" about dvd's costing $5(-ish) to the retailer, iirc. I have no idea how much of that goes to the producer, but it does make the PPM math comparison less of a slam dunk.

I'll be the first to admit that I only watch about 10 minutes of the average movie, which would be about $.80 at hotmovies for me (I buy the biggest package). Of course, that's probably $.80 more than I would pay for a full length DVD, of which I buy few.

I guess he figures that the hotmovies.com rates aren't good enough, I can understand that but if it works for Elegant Angel and Evil Angel, who make much better films anyway, imo, I can't see why it can't work for him.
