Very simple, all major French producers want to sell their movies to the big French cable companies and the French broadcasting authorities do not allow condom-free porn to be shown on TV.

Japanese porn has that annoying pixielation. Japanese men are used to it, it's technically illegal to own non-censored porn. It's not enforced for those who own it, it is confiscated but selling it will bring prosecution. Some is sold 'under-the-counter.' Because of this, Japan was a big torrent provider, the men trying to download uncensored porn. Good luck with that. Japanese porn, the censored stuff, doesn't sell well outside Japan.
The French are finding the same niche. Most porn fans hate condoms, if the French men get used to it, French porn production will be in-house so to speak.
The dumbasses in Los Angeles County mandated condoms in porn shoots. The porn industry reacted by moving production out of LA County.
Some are moving to the more Republican and conservative Orange County. The libertarian wing of the party is OK with that, the social conservatives are aghast.
The Bay Area beckons.

^Too bad for you because there are a lot more amazing French studios producing some great porn other than Dorcel. They of course all use condoms but I don't care about what's on a guys dick.

I'll worry about French porn when the women start shaving their legs and their armpits. Until then, who cares?

Ha, ha. You're here all week, I'm sure.
Actually, French porn has become super annoying by having every single (Eastern European - there are not that many French ones these days) model shave their pubes off. In US porn there is a much welcomed return of pubic hair, which one hopes will continue and expand until we get back to the 80s "trimmed but unshaven" style. In Europe it's still very much slash-and-burn farming that is the vogue, with its ugly and asexual look. European porn fashions typically lag by 2-3 years at least. E.g. French porn is full of boobjobs, whereas there seems to be a bit of backlash in the US.
As for condoms, French porn is a good example that viewers don't mind after all. All those companies seem to be doing well, whereas if we believed the doomsayers from LA it would be the end of known civilization if the precious penis was not 100% visible 100% of the time.

^True that there aren't that many well known French performers but there is a decent amount of mid-tiers/amateurs performers. The two sites I mentioned hire them all. I think the fact that there are so few French porn studios makes it next to impossible to have a large pool of performers. It sucks for French performers that Dorcel (the biggest French studio) hires so many Eastern European performers because that makes it that much harder for young French women to break into the porn industry.
I honestly don't understand what the big deal is with condoms. I suspect the reason why I think that is because I've been seeing them in porn for at least the last 20 years so that I sometime don't even notice the guy is wearing one. Case in point the Rosebud anal series from the 90's. I was watching Anal madness last night and condoms are in almost every scene and I only noticed it last night.

^Pretty much the last French model that really rang my bell was Oksana D'Harcourt, so that's close to 10 years ago. There was a great batch of girls in the turn of the century: Tiffany Hopkins, Oceane (more of a late 90s, that one), even Nina Roberts, despite the boobjob. The problem for me started when the French girls started appearing mainly in US gonzo productions: Katsu(m/n)i, Tiffany, and Melissa Lauren (even before the boobjob) were pretty ruined for me once they started the US circuit. Some even looked worse: Tiffany went from smiling cutie to humourless, almost skanky (her hair was almost always terrible) gonzo girl. The only exceptions are Angell(l..lll?) Summers who's excellent across continents, despite the boobjob, due to her personality; and Liza Harper who actually looked much, much, MUCH prettier as a US-based milf than as a French youngster in the mid-90s.
Is Blue One even active these days? I found that Dorcel was already losing it when the new century came along, but that Blue One made some excellent fun videos that sort of fooled me that French filth was as good as ever. But I admit I haven't seen anything from them for yonks.

I know there have been other Dorcel girls since Oksana but I think she's probably their last true porn star. It's clear that none since her have had the impact she did when she was active and the industry being what it is now then none are likely anytime soon. I didn't see too many US movies with Tiffany but I did see my share with Katsuni and Melissa. They still did a very good job but I can't help felling that they altered their appearance once in North America and that is too bad.
No I don't think Blue One is still making movies. In fact I can't think of any French Studio other Dorcel that still makes movies. I know John B Root shoots stuff for Explécite but are his movies still being released to dvd? I's sad for people like us who have seen the movies that Studios Like Dorcel, Blue One and Alpha France produced will probably never be made again.

I've seen John's work at Explicite. I don't care about DVD as I've abandoned the format. It's really good stuff in that he retains the great good-natured atmosphere that was his hallmark. In fact he reminds me of how US gonzo used to be back in the early Stagliano days and even Seymore, although I always hated Seymore's filmmaking style. Anyway, it was the same faux-reality set-up, happy looking performers, an air of cheeky naughtiness and in general people having carefree fantasy sex. It's the same appeal as Fred Coppula's movies from 15 years ago in the Clara Morgane, Oceane and Mathilde Fessier days. Happy people having fun - not like "gonzo" is now, an exercise in hatred towards women. Anyway, that's the good bit about Explicite. The bad bit is that it's all samey and too many scenes are shot in a photoshoot format which gets old fast. One thing that I always loved about John B. Root's proper films was their dreamy fantasy plots, like Sex Dreamers or French Beauty. That's no longer the case, it's all "reality" and photoshoot format. But some of the sex is brilliant. I discovered the beautiful Cuban girl Katia De Lys through E-Art, and I also loved the busty and quirkily cute Astree from a few years back.
But, to bring this back on subject :), all E-Art videos have condoms now. Which doesn't bother me in the least.

I don't care about french porn. The very fact they came up with Steve French really took it's toll on me. The girls from there must get over to US to get under my radar.

Condoms are a BIG turnoff for most people watching porn. So these French companies are limiting themselves to the French market.

Hy everyone,

I have good answers for you.

I'm going to update this topic. So yeah back in 2014 mybe like 99% of French porns I could see online were with condoms but now new porn companies emerged on internet and internet-only porns were luch more upload I'll say that there is maybe between 20-30% of French porns that now are without condoms.

And yes the hypocrit part is that in French porn industries they test every 3 weeks like 6 different STDs so it's just a way of saying "I show the good example" I personally find this infantilizing and paternalistic, and useless, because sorry for tight-asses and too-serious people but porn is not sex education. But things are getting still way better with the new porn companies emerging since like juste 3-4-5 years now.

Dorcel is for TV mostly.

Dorcel is 100% with condoms. It's like Wicked Pictures in the US.

Well :
LetsDoIt
La Cochonne
La novice
Amateur Euro
French Bukkake
Etc

LetsDoIt the majority is without condoms. Some it's like50% etc. There is also a lot of real amateur porn or non professional actors in French porn that's also a reaqon why you find a lot with condoms.

How is the use of condoms and STD tests bad? I mean, they're taking care of the health of the staff. If some of them fall ill, they can't work anymore. That's basic workplace safety.

That's the aspect of europorn (and French porn in particular) I love: a lot of people are just giving it a go. I used to speak pretty regularly on Twitter with a male German performer who does gangbang scenes on the side, has been doing it for years and absolutely loves it; it's not his main gig, but a fun extracurricular. Jacquie et Michel and La France à Poil are particular faves for me.

As far as condom use go I remember watching an Ovidie scene when I first delved into international porn and being somewhat disappointed with the condom use, but I don't really think about it now, especially if it's surreptitious. But I may be spoiled; I had a LetsDoeIt subscription and condom use is much more sparing in its studios than others.

I watch a lot of europorn and mostly it is always without condoms, especially when the movies are shot in Eastern Europe. So France is really an exception with using condoms. And the mean reason is that you are only allowed to show porn on French television if condoms are being used. Professional performers in French porn vids are also performing in vids in which condoms aren't being used.

It is very simple, porn is about entertainment and not about education. So I prefer it when they aren't used. Performers can stay safe by testing regularly before shooting a porn vid.

^Your argument for why condoms are mandatory on French studios is that the French Government wants to educate people. How about they know what the danger of having unprotected sex for sex workers is and since condoms are one of the best defense then they want to see condom during the penetration portion of the scene.

What does it say about the other European Countries or North American Countries that they don't feel the same way?

Porn is about entertainment indeed but that's not an excuse to impart misinformation as fact. Testing is only effective when all parties involved act responsibly. The de facto industry standard 14 day test in the US had allegedly been abused once by a performer who had a seemingly valid test of negative results (less than 14 days old) but he attempted to work with a co-performer while displaying obvious primary symptoms of an infection a retest would likely show positive for at least one disease. Let us not forget also that depending on the testing method, certain STDs have an incubation period where they may not be detectable within the 14 day testing window.

Testing is much better and more responsible than doing nothing but to say it makes performers "safe" is simply not true.

Hello again guys. I came here to update some infosand being good news! Beause this is TOTALLY OUTDATED NOW. In 2022 FINALLY the MAJORITY of French porn is without condom. The main reasons it has been with condom for years is simple :

- Dorcel had at the time the whole monopoly of the porn industry in France and they did with condoms (like Wicked Pictures in the US)

- French TV made in an obligation in 2007 to where condom because in the 2000's porn was still tabou so it was a sort of agreement with the public to make it more accepted

- Lot of actors don't do this as full time job so they aren't controlled as it is in the US

However today easily 50 to 65% of French porn is without condom. And maybe it will be even more in the future. Dorcel is almost dead lol. You have Rick Angel, La cochonne etc etc so many amateur or porn companies they do without and it's even the majority of French porn now. Even Jacquie et Michel I think the majority is without now because they have some actors and not only amateur.

Totally agree ans moreover to my answer one of the reasons why now in 2022 the MAJORITY of French porn is WITHOUT condoms is also (I forgot yhe mention this one) that they was a big lack of laws concerning testing. They only needed to test every 3 months. Now it's every 21 to 14 days. And they needed to test for only 3 STD now it's for all. So now 50-65% they don't use condoms anymore. And also because of other reasons I said. Testing is actually THE best solution in any case always. Just putting condoms and not testing could actually be worst in some situations I agree. But anyway it's kind of outdate now. And since the PrEP pills agains HIV exist now they started to use less condoms too. Dorcel is just one of many French companies bu they always still use.

Agree with porn being entertainment .... fantasy entertainment, not sex education. I don't like scenes with condoms and won't subscribe to sites that use condoms. The claim that it reduces STI transmission is baloney when sites that show condom use only show it during penetration, but oral scenes don't s how condom use and money shots don't show condom use. What clown is going to say STIs won't spread during oral or money shots. Makes no sense. If anybody is serious about reducing STIs then condom use would be used throughout the scene/movie, but few would watch such a movie? Today there are also some many other ways to for performers to protect themselves without throwing water on the fire. I think Marc Dorcel makes good movies with good themes, but because they are made using condoms I won't subscribe. They are trying to start a fire with damp wood. It doesn't lite. Common sense truly is an uncommon virtue. I wouldn't subscribe to the Wicked site for the same reason. Albeit, I have heard they have changed so I will take another look at them. Should Dorcel change I will subscribe. I welcome any suggestions for sites similar to Dorcel's that don't use condoms.

To answer your question: It's free, it doesn't cost anything. It's payed by social security and by insurances (probably the reason why french porn companies pay higher taxes) It's not about budget at all. Moreover it's mandatory to get tested very regularly.
"French porn" ≠ Dorcel
French porn is not like in the 2000's anymore with only Dorcel shooting porn and few other nearly unknown companies submitting to French TV laws.

Condoms in porn - I realized - nearly doesn't bother me contrary to what I thought before, AS LONG AS it's a minority and as long as I'm too excited/horny to think about it, it's ok in this case.
I don't like to feel forced to watch this because of laws or that I feel like everybody in the country is paranoid and wants to put condoms. I really didn't like seeing condoms in porn especially before in French porn because it was like ALL THE TIME, like 97% I saw it was with condoms. I think it really drove people nearly paranoid of not using almost like if it was something "bad". I think after thinking about it that if you go too extrem, you make the laws way to strict etc the people will not like it. Especially if in your country you can see way more porn with condoms than in other countries.

Also until the 2000's in the US porn has always been in the majority of cases in DVDs or on internet (since the very first porn sites) I don't know any overly famous TV channels in the US making porn. So to regulate DVD porns... it's way more expensive and hard to do. In France porn was culturally more a TV thing and also DVD with lots of movies coming from the US. In France you have "Canal+" a cable TV channel very famous and that used to be extremely wached few years ago. And after midnight you could have porn on it. And so it's "French TV channels" (meaning Canal+) that made condoms mandatory in porn since a 2006 anti-AIDS campaign and made it officially mandatory since 2007 for Canal+.

The other reason is that the country is simply smaller: in the US since 2012 condoms are mandatory in LA, California. However people just moved away to shoot somewhere else. Porn movies dropped by 90% in LA going from 6,000 / year to 600 / year.

I think also I realized that it's not only condoms itself that can bother but the whole thing around some porn companies that make it less exciting. Like old J&M porns were usually with condoms and the cameraman was enabled to film correctly, we would see more the guy than the girl, the quality of the image was horrible etc, in Dorcel lot of their scenes are too "soft" and the guy very often doesn't even get naked, he just pulls his dick out of his pants, like who the fuck does this in real life? It makes it kind of annoying when you notice it and think about it.

But rare times I saw condoms in US porn I didn't feel disturbed by it, or nearly not, because it's not Dorcel or old J&M porns, it's not something that is forced to people, while in France at the time it was more about nearly blaming people who didn't do sex with condoms. It was too much, too annoying.

It's like in real life condoms can make me lose 80% of feelings if I think about it too much or 20% if I'm really excited and don't think about it too much. So BIG difference depending on your state of mind. That's why some guys will say they don't care about condoms while others will be really bothered by condoms.

So if you go on internet like on Pornhub most French porns you will see among the most watched ones will be without condoms especially like the top 20 it will be like 80-90% of videos without condoms.

What annoys me more it's when they use it when it's not something usefull like when it's only actors, the same ones, who are tested etc however in Euro porn you have lot of amateur porn (real amateur unlike in American porn where most of the time it's not really Amateur).

But I'm not going to be hypocrite in real life or in porn, without condoms will be more exciting, it's logic, I just don't like when people would say "there's no difference" or "viewers don't care at all". Like would say Dorcel. Condoms is ok as long as you put it during maximum erection, you don't lose too much erection etc so that the latex will not have air inside so it will really stick to the dick.

I think making something mandatory at 100% isn't good, if their goal was too remind people to put condoms they should just make quotas for TV like saying "we want 50% of scenes to be with condoms" and the rest of the time put a warning message before. Something like that.

Hello,

I'll make a shorter, simple and detailed general answer (I wrote a lot and I got lost in my previous texts)
----------
For precision to know that "French porn = condom" it is much less the case nowadays.
----------
But here are 3 answers:

- The production actually, Dorcel wants their actors to wear condoms, all the time, just like (it seems to me) France à poil, Made in France and French girls at work
(In the United States, even Wicked Pictures, which has been shooting a lot with condoms for some time, has released a lot of movies without condoms, but for example "hot guys fuck" is always with condoms and it's American)

- Because it's mandatory for French TV broadcasts (since 2007) and historically France has shot a lot for TV and even now so a good % is still with condom for this reason, but this % has decreased a lot due to the fact that contents are migrating more and more on internet and leaving TV behind (for example when you look at the most viewed French porn videos (recent say since 2020) on Pornhub it's mostly without condom)

- Because there is a lot of amateur content and actors who work only "part time" and also have a sexual life elsewhere in the French porn industry unlike many American porn videos where it's more "real" actors.

Here's a different interesting theory:

Could it also be that a lot of American pornstars are cut and French pornstars are uncut. If you are uncut you need to be more careful to avoid getting stds. People have gotten used to the American model but if you think look deeper there might be more reasons why this model might not make sense in other regions. If French porn studios are bringing new talent(actresses) and aren't that regulated it only makes sense to use condoms.

On the other hand, the reason why HGF(the American studio) uses condom could it be because some of the male performers are likely bi or members of the LGBT community even being cut your std risk rises when you are having sex with men. While HGF the focus is still straight porn its gearing towards a gay audience it wouldn't suprise me that many of the those guys have also done gay or bi porn.

I think it is quite simple. When there are no rules about the use of condoms in porn, producers shoot porn without condoms. Because that is what the fans really like. When there is a condom law (like in France) there are two options.

1) They shoot with condoms and can sell their vids to pay tv channels (only porn with condoms can be shown there) and they can also sell them online.
2) They shoot without condoms and can't sell their vids to pay tv channels and they can only sell their vids online.

The first option is still the most profitable. With the second option they will earn more online but not enough to cover the loss of not be able to sell their vids to pay tv channels.

If the condom law wouldn't be there in France, I think shooting porn with condoms will immediately stop.

I have seen condomless vids with uncut guys, condomless vids with guys who also perform in gay or bi vids. If they would shoot porn in the safest way possible they would always use condoms. But that simply doesn't happen because it is not very popular among the fans.
