Miss Oso, Miss Jollee, Miss Lauren and a few more have more or less ceased posting at ADT.

Anybody enlightened enough to know why?

Who knows?
I asked a similar question here a while back, specifically asking if some of the things written in this forum were perhaps scaring some porn star members away.

Maybe they just have busy schedules and haven't had the time to post here. I've noticed some of them seem to go through a cycle where they post here, disappear for a couple of months, come back, and then not post anything for a couple more months.

You would think that with all the choices the porn consumer has that a porn chick would think of ADT as marketing. Why they would stop posting doesn't make sense. Keeping your name in the public eye I think would be a priority for ladies looking for bookings, etc.

"Hi guys, this is XXX actress, I been busy, bought a new car, blah, blah, hope you still want to see me, just did a hot g/g scene with XXX, bye."

Posting once in a while, ala Christie Lee, is smart.

I think nietzsche is probably right. However I am often amazed at the lack of tact some people have regarding the girls.

Looks like these girls are ina a lose/lose situation:

If they post here and mention the movies they've been in one too many times, their posts are dubbed 'spam' and 'shameless self-promotion'. Plus there has been some rude behaviour towards them - some people just don't get that just because these girls enjoy sex and don't mind having it in front of the camera, it doesn't mean that they don't wanna be treated with some respect.

If they stop posting everybody laments that they 'don't care enough for their fans'.

If every post I made was followed by some 10 stupid comments, I would get bored after a while as well.

(This obviously just goes out to a minority of posters, but the majority has to pay for that behaviour.)

Kimi, Kami, Jenna J and Melissa Lauren have all posted within the past couple of days. Perhaps the suggestion that self-promotion is frowned upon in the Jewel thread has turned them off?

I think you guys read way too much into people's absences. Don;t you get burned out, take a vacation, have problems with Internet access, have better things to do, have a life? A lot of porn folks post here and get the bug, then lose the bug, then come back again later; some, just pop in from time to time. Some, like Kami and Kimi and Tricia and Melissa and others are full-fledged parts of the "community," other times, it's like a cycle. You hang aorund for awhile but then it gets boring or something else distracts you.

I'm sure there's a few folks who have been "scared off," by an overzealous fan or detractor, but I bet the percentage is smaller than you think.

O gotta agree with Skronk. It appears that most of the performers who frwuent here have resolved the "over-promotion vs. caring about fans" conundrum. Its probably just a metter of not having internet time available every so often.

I have spoken to at least one actress who likes this board alot, but says she rarely has the time to read and post as much as she'd like.

most likely a tempest in a teapot...

+1 DeeDee you speak the truth!...the problem (I see) is that Jenna like no other star in the business stirs up crazy emotions for the most part ether fanatics or haters, not too many people are in the middle and have absolutely no idea how to talk to or about her. For that I am sorry because the last few threads Jenna has given some really good posts and ether fanatics or haters will probably scare her off sooner then later.

Then there was the post about how Alexis Malone wasn't really a porn star because she didn't do anal, etc.

I really don't mind the self promoting threads. I figure that is why the Porn News - Press Releases forum exists. Really, how can they interact with fans and not self promote? Except for going into the lower forums, which takes more time and effort than you can reasonably ask for.

I am more curious about the wierd possesiveness that some posters seem to have. Not to mention a self-righteous sense of entitlement that some exude. Creepy. Must be worse at conventions.

Besides the "They have a life" arguement, which I agree with, there is also another factor. They are not porn stars 24/7. I expect somewhere on non-digital media they are three dimensional people. Can't be working all the time.

You're both right of course, but it's a balance in more than one way.

There's got to be a balance between people being able to state their opinions as long as they don't let it degenerate into stupidity and insults (which is what happened in that thread).

On the other hand, stars, whether they're big or small have to have a certain amount of thick skin when ther're in a forum like this or any forum as there is always someone who won't like you. Really they just have to trust the site owners/moderators to be able to step in when this happens.

While I can certainly see how posts like cris' in that linked thread can wear someone down, I personally think a forum full of fawning fanbois is just as pointless as a forum full of flamers.

It's a matter of tact and commonsense, and most importantly respect. Someone might not like Jenna (Jewel/Melissa/Katja/Skeeter/Steve Holmes/Everhard/whoever) but if that's true there are ways to post this without being an asshole about it, and I'd suggest that going into a thread where they are posting simply to hear your own voice saying how you think they suck is not the way to share this with other forum members.

There's plenty of ways and threads to share opinions without being a confrontational jackass about them.

yeah i notice that too. some of these consumers demanding this & that. they want their personal taste in porn indulged down to every little thing, and when they don't get it, they get petulant. like Comic Book Guy on the simpsons.

we all got our personal kick, we all got something we want to see on camera. but c'mon....nobody owes fans anything.

That's a very good question, and I don't have the answer, but I do have an opinion. This place was designed for fans, but became overrun with fanatics. It produced two seperate types of people that attract each other. You get the ass kissing fan that can do nothing but sing praises to their favorite starlet. It also produced the anti fan sho speaks up when they feel a girl is over rated.

Being a fixture at PXP, Jewel had a vested interest pushing her product here. In my opinion, it insulted some of her fans because Jewel's catalog is much more than PXP. Being a figure head, she also responded to some comments and actions in a manner less than flatering for such an accomplished woman.

For other girls mentioned in this thread, there is no real incentive. Kami, Melissa and Arianna work for a veriety of studio, and pushing thier prodct does not put money in their pockets like it does for Jewel. Doesn't mean that they shouldn't push their stuff, just means that pusging it opens up the door for unwanted insults.

Since I have talked to Kami a few times, I know she is truly hunble, and was involved here because she not only liked talking to her fans, but she is a fan herself. I hadn't really noticed that she slowed down posting, but now that you mention it, I see it.

Jenna came to Jewels deffense, and it's great to have friends, but regardless of how big your bank account is, or the personal relationship with someone, you need to look at their public image. IE, I have some friends that are really good to me, but complete asses to others. I know this, and regardless of how I feel about them, I don't blindly defend thier actions.

I'm not saying that this is the case with Jenna and Jewel, but as I stated in that thread, Jewel was not the subject, the actions were.

Porn is a "Bandwagon Sport" If people aren't piling on women for sex, they are piling on the bandwagon to end a career.

My advice to any star would be to enjoy yourself, be safe and remember this ride doesn't last forever. Save your duckets and remember to smile, cause one nasty outburst, email or quote will bring out the Jackyls.

Pimp:

Well said. In a perfect world, there would be a happy medium in which the talent and fans can co-exist without the inevitable mean-spiritness. However, in a forum where anonymity is afforded to fans but not the talent, the scales are unbalanced in favor of the fans.

I painted too broad a brush with my "shameless self-promotion" comment in the Jewel thread and I deeply regret it. I think ADT does a great job in welcoming pornstars that start posting here but I do notice that after an initial blast of posts, they don't return or post as frequent.

The question remains - do we not make them feel comfortable?

the difference between the female porn stars that post here and all the other board members is that you know them but they don't know you. Exept for a few members here like bono and sronker and maybe other porn involved posters all you guys are anonymous people to us. At some point that gets scary because there's been some shit written about performers. To keep your brain clean from BS like that you just have to shut down the internet and go on with your life and leave all the crazy people on the internet behind.

Amen, Katja. Lord knows, I feel this way on a regular basis. If only I had more of a life to go to outside the internet right now. ::sigh:: Ah well, summer's here soon, and things are looking up in that department.

Really though, spending too much time on the internet, I've found, deteriorates my soul--bit by bit, and I don't think it's just me. People forget that they are talking to people , and hence all the self-righteous entitlement and the deceptively antisocial behvaior patterns that are so easy for ANYone to fall into on the internet. It's part of the online culture, I'm afraid--and an empty and depressing part at that.

Except, if you actually approach it with some maturity, or whatever, you might get to know some of the faces behind the scenes. Like Katja , who has always been an honest and lively person to have posting. But it's amazing how even really nice, totally not promotional stars like Katja can come on and get dissed by idiots. (And this goes back to the old mod question: without mods, you would never see any stars here at all, except to promote and only promote, or maybe Brandon would come and get into some verbal sparring, ha ha)

I would hope that the contributions of industry people -- mainly performers -- would help humanize porn a little bit, and make it more fun for everyone.

I could be wrong but I have noticed a lot of pornstars and directors have a very low tolerance when it comes to criticism which to me is very surprising considering these people have THE best job in the world. I wonder if these people realize how lucky they are having this job, I mean how many of us fans would kill to have the job they have? I know I would.

Hi,
Well, I bet every job got it´s good and bad sides. Only because you don´t know the bad ones doesn´t mean it´s THE best Job :) Not that i know things first hand but how about this. You are supposed to have a scene with a girl that you are "not" into. Or lets say ... while going down on you she throws up cause your dick was way to far in her throat. Does that really sound that good ? And i haven´t even begun to go the anal way ...

Has anyone ever forgotten a password??

Just recently one porn star who was already member here forgot her password. She signed up again using a variation of her name so she could let her fans know the latest news about her.

A couple of members questioned if it was really her, as if they would have a fucking clue who she really was!

Classy. Real classy.

If more of that criticism was presented in a constructive manner, people would likely have a higher tolerance level. When a performer or director is here to do something other than to promote their latest product, I can see them coming away from criticism with a "Why am I wasting my time there?" attitude.

It's a shame that the Internet is as anonymous as it is. I can't imagine that many of the most critical people would have the nerve to walk up to a performer and say the things that they are willing to write.

Well that's the thing. With the anonymity of the internet, people can and will say all sorts of things. I've only been helping out in this forum for a short time, but I've been over in the International Shopping forum for several years and despite that being probably the quietest forum on the page I've had to step in now and then and tell people to stop being dickheads.

In the Star Crossed and Porn Pool forums, there's SO many more posts, that there's a much larger chance of a thread starting with 12 people talking about how
is a stupid useless bitch for not doing <insert sex act here> before one of us gets a chance to see it and squash it.

I can certainly see Katja's point about almost all fo us being anynymous, but then that's the thing about the internet. It's big and international. I'm sure Walter would be willing to meet you and show you around next time you're in Belgium, and I'll be glad to do the same when you're in Melbourne, but realistically thats never going to happen (well the Melbourne part, anyway) which is the same for someone like babby in Alabama.

The nature of being a public performer is that you're in the spotlight and people will write both slavering fanboy stuff and mean-spirited shit about you. Goes as much for Katja Kassin as it does for Nicole Kidman, though the scale will of course slide, both are public figures.

Really then the options come down to being level-headed and ignoring the trash talk like, say Kami, Kimi, Tricia. Posting intensely and then fading away, or just keeping it to a casual thing and posting occasionally.

Just look here to see Jenna Jameson being hit by the same thing Katja posts about..

True some people can't take criticism, but do you agree that the internet brings the worst out in people? There are real live people behind these screens and behind these names. I'm not talking about anything in particular; just in general.

Depends on the person actually. It doesn't bring out the worst for everyone but here it should be on both sides, I mean I can name three examples of performers being way out of line towards fans like michael stephano attacking a fan here after he had a little criticism of a movie he made, john dough flaming me just because I said I didn't like him as a performer and jenna jameson flaunting how much money she has on the bank when a fan had a little criticism of the limits she has. I won't even start with the rantings of jewel denyle.

what bugs me most are those ass kissing fans who think because they praise their favorite star here she'll meet them and have a nice porking session. celebrities are human. humans make mistakes and are flawed. too many of the ass kissing wackos here are immune to that truth.

my advice is to open up the door sometime, go outside, and experience life. waiting for a film that has been shot five years ago to be released so you can get your fix, isn't the way to live. besides that it's truly pathetic.

I disagree on that one. The guy claimed that Jenna would never be a "star" because she didn't do anal. IMO, "Tell that to my bank account" (or something close to that) was a perfect answer.

Here's the problem with the Internet: We don't get together and talk to eachother-socialize-we hide behind silly names like "tscfan317" and talk to a computer screen. It has a strong alienating aspect, though it does have its potentially positive aspect of enhanced global communication, as little ole Kelly from midwest-Red State America has been able to communicate with some really interesting people from all around the world through this forum and have also been fortunate enough to tell various female porn stars that they sure are pretty or directors that their films kick ass (or need improvement). Because it is a tertiary group and thus lacks physical human contact it fosters an environment where people might feel free to act in a way toward others, those others often being porn stars, that they wouldn't in "real life". Robert Putnam's Bowling Alone is an interesting read on this matter, though his argument is old enough that it was made against television and not the Internet.

As far as the specific question about the disappearing porn star posters on ADT, it is troubling. Is it merely that some of us fail to engage them in civil conversation and thus scare them away or is that some of us jerk with one hand while pointing the righteous finger of blame with the other? There are actual people behind the objects we watch on our television screens. Apparently, some stars don't think enough of us realize that and have decided that the benefit does not outweigh the cost of self-promotion through ADT. Or maybe they are just busy. Or maybe they don't have steady access to a computer or the internet. Or maybe they have an inherit fear in communicating with, in essence, anonymous people with made-up names whose interest and adulation could be flattering as well as scary in addition to the more hurtful experience(s) that might await them if communicating with proud critics or malcontents.

Fuck if I know. All I've done is summarize in a paragraph the explanations I've seen given thus far. I'd say that there is no simple x causes y answer here. It's probably a combination of all of these things. Listen to what Katja and Melissa and anyone else have to say. They alone can offer the best insight because, well, they are female actresses and we aren't.

What's this about opening up a door? I'm off to go find it.

Kelly

"You can't be neutral on a moving train."

PS...Is it just me or since Jenna started posting again have a couple of people attacked her simply because she's Jenna?
