At the time I personally found it to be pretty repulsive. I discovered that Private movies seemed to have the hottest actresses best production quality so I always rented them and they all seemed to contain anal sex, which I tolerated just to see all the sexy bitches, but over time I started to like it. ok so here's my two cents. theres been some great input from some of the posters on this thread, so ill try not to repeat!

my top 5 reasons why anal is SO popular:

Alot of the posts in this thread make sense to me, but when I read the initial post I was just wondering.

Is it possible that the general porn viewers were trained to like it? That we saw it so often that we are conditioned to find it jerk-worthy?

As if in the 90s the porn industry made this new trend to sell more new products/make the buyer consider older features outdated and we all followed?

I agree that Christy Canyon would shy away from having her butt cheeks spread open in her early career, but I'm not so sure about that as it pertains to later in her career.

The first example that I can think of is "Play Christy For Me" , which was filmed in 1989.
In the film, theres a scene between Christy and Tom Byron that takes place on a couch. I agree with all of the reason that I’ve read as to why anal sex is so popular in porn. One I’d like to add is exaggeration. As with anything, it has to be exaggerated to be entertaining. If porn were done like your average married couple having sex in their bedroom, it wouldn’t be as entertaining.

Comedy is funny because someone will take a current event or any other topic and exaggerate it. Porn is good when we take any sexual situation and exaggerate it. I’ve never played golf and would be bored out of my mind watching real golf on television, but Tin Cup had my attention throughout the whole movie.

Even regular straight vaginal sex in porn has to be exaggerated. Your average housewife probably won’t appreciate being put into the pile driver. A good blow job scene in porn is exaggerated from the blow job Suzy homemaker might give you at home.

Finally, the most popular anal scenes or anal films in porn are those that are exaggerated. Put any “normal” anal movie on the shelf next to a movie where the girl takes a bat up the ass or double anal and see which one sells more. Whether that is your personal preference in anal films or not, I believe the sales reports would show the exaggerated anal flicks to be more popular.

Generally Speaking, men love Anal. The reasons for this have been well explored here and I wont dispute the validity of any of them.

The reason Anal is more prevalant in porn than it was a decade or two ago is the same reason coarse language is more common on network and basic cable than it was 10 or 20 years ago.

There has been a great "loosening up" of what's socially acceptable. "Sheesh, kids today..." and all that stuff. Same as it ever was, really.

I don't mean to suggest that Porn has become widely socially acceptable, only that it is the same distance from mainstream acceptability that it always has been.

Think about it. Glen Miller pissed of parents in the 40s and now Marilyn Manson is old news. Look at the difference between "Guess who's Comming to Dinnner." and "Jungle Fever." Porn is a form of entertainment and under the same pressure to retain some sellable shock value.

As for Anal being regarded as an intrinsically gay activity, well, that's just (in my best Mike Tyson voice) ludicrous! A girl who gives me a finger or two up there during a blowjob almost always gets a second date. How anything a man does with a woman can be considered gay is simply beyond my ability to logically comprehend.
