Since I haven't gotten any response to my last post under the "Asian men in gay porn" thread, I thought I would start a new one. It seems to me that heterosexual porn is more racially diverse than gay porn. There are a lot of black, asian, and latina women working in mainstream porn. Yet I rarely see men of color in gay porn. Sure, I can name some exceptions - Jack Simmons, Ben Jaaks as African Americans, Latino Carlos Morales, Asian Brandon Lee - but the list is a fairly short one. Do you guys agree with me and why do you think this is true?
I think you might be referring to the bigger studios, the Falcons, Titans, Bel Ami, etc???
There are some other studios that include on other types of guys, such as All Worlds, Bacchus (black, latin), Asian Guys, Exotic, and Birlynn (asian), . It does seem that these studios have stayed away from black and asian guys, but this could be that the producers just are not into those guys. Hopefully in porn the producer shoots what they're into.
If you dig the latin guys, check out Kristen Bjorn. He was the first to travel to South America and find great looking latin guys. And the movies are first rate.
Did you want a greater variety of ethnicity from certain studios, or just certain types in general? It would be easier to pinpoint if you said "I wish Falcon had more black guys in their movies."
Because the same thing happens on the straight porn too. It's not too often you see a black girl in a Vivid movie, or even in Playboy for that matter.
You also have to consider that a majority of the porn buying public in the United States is caucasian, so naturally the amount of caucasian porn would be higher, with more caucasian guys to do porn and more caucasian to buy it.
Yes, I guess I am talking about mainstream porn, such as Falcon, Titan, Bel-Ami. I would like to see more diversity in heterosexual porn too, but straight porn has featured the likes of Asia Carrera, Kobe Tai, and Heather Hunter, just off the top of my head. What men of color there are in gay porn seem to be segregated in all-black or all-latino movies. Would it be so bad to see Matthew Rush fucking a muscular black man, for example?
Have you seen anything from Colt lately? Most of their recent films feature very hunky black men (Adam Dexter, Mark Williams) and even a buff Asian guy (Lee Young). Check out Big N Plenty to see all 3 of those guys.
I'll have to disagree about Latinos, too. I see them all over the place. Maybe not from Falcon, but that's almost to be expected. Titan, Raging Stallion, All Worlds, etc.. all feature a number of latinos.
Good points on Colt and Raging Stallion (who has a new one called "Passport to Paradise" that's got a lot of Latinos).
I also wanted to point out Studio 2000 has got a lot of Latino stars - check out "Gored", for example.
Falcon is in fact mostly white, but they did have an interracial scene in "Tommy's Tale".
For titles a few years old try Pacific Sun's "Black Ballers 2 - Foul Play" or some of Catalina's double feature discs - "Black Attack" 1 & 2 on one disc and "Fortune Nookie / Chew Manchu" Asian double features.
I doubt we'll ever see different ethnicities in a studio like Bel Ami, cause that's not their thing. They have smooth, young, white European 'boys'.
You also need to consider where some of the studios (for example, Bel Ami is located in Prague, Czech Republic) are located. I suspect that their pool of available models contains very few blacks.
I think most gay porn production companies end up making product that reflect a combination of their producers' and directors' tastes and the talent available to them.
There are a number of NYC-based gay porn companies which feature black, blatino, and latino models.

Anyway, I knew that the ratio black:white was like 10 to 90 (or more), but I never thought that there was a problem with latino's (something I'm very happy with.).

Good points, I think that Lucas entertainment does an excellent job in choosing diverse models from all ethnic backgrounds, and there's Latino Fan Club that has very sexy models, but overall i don't see it ever being as diverse as straight porn where blacks/blonds is the norm. Then when you find an all black movie, it's cheesey, low budget, not along the lines of a studio that produces white porn. And the black models that do work for the major studios (Falcon, Colt, etc.) will more than likely be working with a white person or a non-black ethnic person. It's sad that there isn't more being done in this area, it's as if people that want to see blacks in gay porn are settling for what's out there, (which isn't much to begin with) no one is trying to do anything about it.
Val: who is the guy in yoru pic? he's so sexy he's a model, I've seen him before in fashion shows, give me any info/links you ahve on him his name, etc. thanx.

Oh and to get on-topic again: In my experience, this doesn't seem to be much of a problem in Brazil. Of course, my knowledge of gay porn studios is limited, but I never noticed a lack of black Brazilian gay actors. And Brazil has even less black men than America.

C'mon Val, what's his name? yes, he's a very succesful runway model in high fashion (europe), i love his walk and his looks, doesn't appear that he's working with major inches, saw him in briefs and there was nothing there, but he's so cute i'd deal with it.
