Why do they call this type of filming style gonzo? The only gonzo I know is the muppet.
Can someone explain?

The first time I ever heard the term "gonzo" was from Ted Nugent.He had a song named Gonzo,from the album Double Live Gonzo!(1977)

Gonzo is a style of reportage, filmmaking, or any form of multimedia production in which the reporter, filmmaker or any other uneducated, no talent person with a camcorder attempts to make an adult movie and is intrinsically enmeshed with the subject action (rather than being a passive observer, ie, "hey I can get a free blowjob and pretend I'm a director") and usually results with the viewer of such productions becoming violently ill with motion sickness,epileptic seizures and blurred vision. The style was popularized by Hunter S. Thompson ;)
