This is my biggest peeve with porn, I think. I'm finding it a problem even in amateur porn too. The stuff is too short. It's too rushed, to be more precise. Everything is rushed. It's like they plan out all of the different things they're going to do, and they plan the cameras and whatnot. Then it's like they're rushing through each point on the list. They want to do like six different things in one scene, and cram it all into a 12 minute video.
First of all, 12 minutes is not long enough for any porn, that's a joke. Who goes through all the trouble and planning to shoot a porn scene and comes away with 12 minutes of footage? That's a waste. But there sure are a lot of videos out there around the area of 12 - 15 minutes. When your video is that short, you're just rushing through each bullet point and it's like... okay, we got that shot, move on... got that one... move on, etc, etc. Ugh. Reminds me of those "erotic stories" people write online. They're about 3 paragraphs long and take all of 40 seconds to read. Yeah, great story. I know the basics of fucking too.
IMO, any porn movie should be at least an hour long, and that's on the shorter end. You need to have time to let each part of it play out. You need to be thorough. Hell, it at least needs to be long enough to get off to before the shot changes to something else. What the shit is with the rushing? Do people really have that short of an attention span? Do they think we'll get bored looking at something for longer than 2 minutes? Ever heard of subtly? Nuance? Nah, that doesn't count for anything. When you've got the shot, you've got the shot, just move on. That's what they think. But they're wrong. It isn't just a static thing that becomes boring the longer you look at it. It's not a slide show, it's sex.
I get so frustrated when they do actually get a really good shot going, and the action is super hot and just getting started and they're like - fuck it, move on to the next item, or change camera. WHY??? I hate that. So many great opportunities get wasted that way. Have you ever watched a painter creating something very intriguing and interesting, and when he starts to fill in the details, just grabs the canvas and chucks it out the fucking window "fuck that, time for a new painting". Well, that's what people whom make porn do, and they do it all the fucking time.

Well, I would've thought the answer was pretty obvious. Porn is a masturbatory aid and most people can 'take care of business' pretty quickly. Sure, you can string it out but usually ten minutes or so is enough.

Isn't it a problem specifically in amateur porn? The usual complaint about mainstream porn nowadays rather seems to be that nobody edits their stuff properly anymore and just dumps 50 minute scenes on the customers out of a misguided view that that's "value".
As far as I can tell the primary driver in amateur shoots being so short is that its producers are trying to make easy money because they have determined that their target audience thinks nothing about dropping $19.95 on a 10-minute video for some reason. Why give them more if that's all it takes?

Are you suggesting it's not value? How is more for your money, not value?
I've seen plenty of industry produced porn that fades out from the action, just as things heat up. Editing has always been terrible in the Internet era of porn, I don't know when they ever edited "properly". The fewer cuts, the better. Yeah, you can use some cuts when the action is about to transition from one thing to another, if you insist. But porn of the last decade has been famous for cutting mid-action into something else. It's only gotten worse over time with this whole idea of cramming a million things into a short video, that's like a hallmark of so much porn today. I've not ran across this 50-minute unedited content you're talking about, ever to my knowledge.

I agree that is something I hate in porn. I understand a standard movie has 4 scenes. I would rather a movie have 2 scenes if they are legit. It dont matter the length of the sex just it has to come across as authentic and not rushed. Some sex scenes dont have to be slow and sensual. I just want authentic. I dont like the cut scenes. I like it when women take their clothes off. I dont want to see a woman with her dress on then cut to her with her dress off. Again if the scene takes 50 minutes then so be it. Its possible to have a 2hr movie with only 2 sex scenes. Sometimes less is more.
I just never really understood why a movie has to have 4 scenes in it normally where each scene has to have a certain limit just to fit the 4 scenes into the movie. Why cant a movie have 2 or 3 scenes where each scene can be authentic and the women in those scenes can take their time and really enjoy each other and not feel rushed and not cutting certain parts out because of the lack of time.

I was merely summarizing a complaint I've seen plenty of times both here on ADT and elsewhere. Yours is the first time I see somebody complain about scenes being too short in general, though. (Feature movies excepted, where the sex scenes are necessarily shorter to make room for the story, and some people have objected to that, but you don't seem to be talking about that particular issue.)
If anything, many professional porn scenes are much longer now than they were, say, 10 years ago, in part because of the industry shift from 5 scenes to 4 scenes on most DVD releases, with the same total runtime. And most web-only/web-first scenes have always been even longer than the typical scene on a DVD, with the consequence that they tend to get cut if they do appear on DVD later. "Amateur" porn plays by completely different rules, as mentioned.
Anyway, personally I'm a big proponent of using fast-forward so overly long scenes don't really bother me outside of the minor issue that they occupy too much disk space.

When I had the desire to watch a whole porn scene, I had a lot of complaints about how long they were. But I'm also the type to skip a lot of what they shoot, so it's not as much a problem now. But the idea that mainstream porn is too short is inaccurate. You will have a hard time finding scenes from the big companies that go below 25 minutes. And in my opinion, a quarter of an hour is more than enough for a porn scene, if the direction and the performances are good enough.

Not sure where you are watching scenes that are so short.
At PervCity.com our blowjob scenes average 20-30 minutes. And our anal scenes are 40+ minutes, some over an hour.

I should say I tend to watch a lot of fetish oriented content to be specific, and a lot of the best content I've found was appalling short, around 15 minutes or so. I really have a problem with this because often the action will continue to shift every 2 minutes or so, sometimes less. If there's something in particular that I really like, it's only 2 minutes on average. It's hardly more than watching a preview.
For your mainstream, more garden variety style porn I guess I wouldn't know, I don't watch a whole lot of that.

I see. Both of us come at this subject from different perspectives then, since I don't watch a lot of fetish oriented porn.
