I watch a lot of Evil Angel and Jules Jordan movies, and they barely have any POV movies compared to all their other releases. Is POV porn not that popular? Do pornstars not like doing POV scenes? We did it for Vampire Sex Diaries (just released) and in Talk Dirty To Me 2010 (due out March 5) and I have to say when we were editing these shows it became clear adding POV into the mix was very good, very stimulating and since it was Tabitha Stevens doing the blow job POVs, pretty amazing. I've seen my share of it, and mostly rarely catch the girl from head-to-toe, except maybe in reverse cowgirl. I think Mike John does a good job with it, as well as Von Swine. Most of the other times I get frustrated because it seems the camera can never capture or simply misses what I want to see. That and there tends to be "way" too much camera movement to enjoy the scene like I would like to. [Link]

Keeping a movie within budget is always a reason for nearly any decision in moviemaking. Most POV movies out there consist of the same cookie cutter formula. Some semi seductive intro with dirty talk, blowjob, 3 positions, cum on face. It would be nice to switch up scenarios from one scene to another. Starting out as a lap dance at a strip bar, getting a massage, waitress bringing you a cocktail, room service maid, whatever. Another big reason why POV isn't bigger is this: Usually a POV movie consists of 4 or 5 scenes. You're lucky if you have one marquis performer in the entire movie. The others are B list performers (no disrespect meant), but chances are, you bought the movie to see that one performer in a POV setting. Many POV movies out there exclusivley feature complete unknowns. Now if you were to get a POV movie together featuring, say for instance, Rachel Starr, Jayden Jaymes, Alektra Blue, Tanya James, and Kagney Linn Karter, I dare say that would be one of the biggest selling movies of the year. But something like that simply won't happen. Again because of keeping costs within budget and the fact that some girls are contracted, some are free agents, scheduling conflicts, etc. I'm not scared of the 10,000 punches you throw one time, I'm scared of the one punch you throw 10,000 times [Link]

There's virtually no meaningful polls conducted –not that this industry generally gives a shit about fan interests anyway– so its difficult to be certain, but I once initiated my own poll on the subject, and despite a limited response, became convinced, that most would be surprised how many average porn viewers, don't get off, prefer, or even percieve it, from the first person perspective. I understand the fetish, but POV porn is something we have all experienced in life at one point or another. The thrill of porn is watching people do things you may not necessarily 'see' at home. Furthermore, in the 'exotic' sex acts, the girl's face is freaquently obscured. 'Normal' scenes can show the girl's full figure (face included), which is difficult to achieve in POV porn -- though not impossible, I grant you. The obvious argument to my theory is that POV porn is the 'ultimate voyeur' experience as you are in another person's shoes (or condom)... so to speak. However, to be a voyer, one must not be experiencing (partaking) rather simply observing (watching). Additionally, there is an argument to be made that POV porn is misogynist. It is completely from a male perspective, therefore excluding any female viewership. Of course, most porn viewers are men, but you are certainly ostracizing any potential female or couple audience. But the fact that so much of it is bad, shows you how difficult it is. And because it's seriously one-on-one, usually with just two people in a room, chemistry becomes even more important and if it's not there, it's even worse than a regular no-chemistry scene. Also, I think sometimes there's also a touch of resentment from the girls at what is essentially an excuse for a non-performer to get laid. The disinterest borders on hostility. [Link]

It's hard to pretend the guy in the movie is me when the guy is another race. I think the POV movie I've found to be the best and most interesting to watch was some of the POV movies done by Mark Wood for his old company LeWood. In those movies Mark and Francesca and a 3rd girl would pass the camera around and take turns shooting their POVs. Doing it that way the veiwer wasn't limited to one POV and it make for more interesting shots and angles. Much less boring. Much less repetetive. [Link]

I don't agree that there aren't a lot of titles. Seems like there are plenty to me. But I suppose there could be more. There are movies that are POV but uses a cameraman to improve the quality of the camera work. I've see a few of these, most recently Pound the Round. I think "Jack" from "Jack's Playground" sometimes uses this technique. I call these fake POV but really it's not. The Point of View is the same. There just is cock person AND a camera person. One thing I do like in POV porn that I don't see often enough is the use of a second camera. Where the second camera is on a tripod and its view can be edited in. In the first couple Private Sex Auditions, Toni Ribas uses two cameras, one that he holds and one that he just puts down on furniture. I really liked the effect he got with those. There was another series that used this technique with a tripod, but I can't remember it's name. The use of the second camera really cuts down on the repetitiveness of the positions and the angles.
