The last Double D POV came out in 2005. The last Perverted POV came out in 2009. The last My Fantasy Girls came out in 2009. The last Fucking Me POV came out in 2008. The last Vouyer Vision came out in 2007. The last Anal POV [Devil's Film] came out in 2006. The last Amazing POV Sluts came out in 2007. The last 19 Year Old Cuties POV came out in 2007. The last About Face came out in 2008. The last Asian POV came out in 2008. The last Teenage Pink POV came out in 2009. There's only 1 Latin POV series I know of, Latin POV and their last release was in 2008. Even Schoolgirl POV, Anal Prostitutes on Video and Barely Legal POV all last came out in 2010. 2011 is coming to an end and there was no new release this year from any of these. Those are pretty much all of the main POV DVD series released!! The only ones that seem to still be putting out new releases is the POV Pervert series [Jules Jordan Video], Jack's POV [Digital Playground] and Peter North's POV [Pure Play Media]. Maybe it's because the piracy, both illegal uploads of copyright content, and the subsequent downloading via illegal "tube" sites, makes it impossible for production companies to recover even their costs? As a result, there are less releases! Contrary to what some might think, porn is not free to just take and use by the masses. Perhaps due to piracy (which seems like an actual crime, not merely a legal civil matter) will cause MANY other types of porn to also become scare? Just look the many companies which have been so adversely affected by piracy that they have gone out of business, or downsized significantly. Yikes!
^^ Agreed. I'd suspect that POV material to be one of the "Top 10" most pirated type of DVD full movie/scene in the industry. The simple reason is that it likely manifests itself as the quintessential wanking material available on the 'net. While any pirated porn is likely popular, I bet more guys get their exposure to porn via POV than just about any other type of scene. Higher popularity = more piracy.
^^^ I don't agree with that. I think if something is really popular, yes there will be people pirating it but there will also be a ton of people buying it. It seems some of the most popular mainstream stuff are the best selling DVDs/features like Pirates that get a lot of attention on porn DVD websites, in articles, etc. Yet they still make enough money off those to keep funding all the new feature length pornos since then. What might be the problem is there are a lack of talented guys who can shoot POV porn. I think that is more likely the dilemma. Most of all the great POV porn you see is often shot by the same few guys. Maybe it's because the guys with the money to pay for a porn DVD to be made, don't trust these new guys with 5 solid scenes of POV action if they've never done it before. Maybe the few directors left out there shooting porn don't want to be having sex with pornstars or maybe their belly/penis isn't pornstar big enough so they aren't interested. Maybe the male pornstars out there don't know enough about camera stuff to organize their own shoot, let alone a POV shoot. I think that maybe it's just harder too shoot with less room for mistakes if they don't know what they are doing. Maybe Mike Quasar who posts on this forum can explain why Zero Tolerance stopped putting otu POV Centerfold DVDs and shed some light on the situation? I don't know if Jake Malone or Mike Adriano or Erik Everhard still post on the forum, maybe they could chime in as to why. Seems like Brother Love has just fallen off the map with his POV stuff, which was some of the best in my opinion.
I think that the biggest reason for the decline of POV is that most of them fail miserably. POV should be as if I'm the one there. She should be looking at me. I shouldn't be at an angle to the camera. Very few scenes accomplish this. IF you don't sell it that way, then I become a bystander with some of the worst views. Slapping a POV tag on a scene because the girl looks at the camera at some point is plain wrong. You want me to buy a POV? Get the camera next to the guys head, film the whole scene from there, and have the girl focus on that point. Yeah, I've said this before and asked how hard is that. I guess it's not easy. Props and my $ to the guy that figures it out.
^^^ I agree 100 percent. POV should make you feel like it's your point of view as the viewer. Mike Adriano would be watchable if he didn't stick his face in the camera shot in every damn scene! It's a shame too because he uses the best girls for his films. So now you are limited in the variety of camera shots/angles of the girls body and the scene becomes more about the male performer than it is about the female body...and for me that's a deal breaker! Now I don't waste my time or money buying his DVDs or downloading his scenes. It's more than obvious why there is a shortage of POV releases. They are not popular. If there was a great demand for them then there would be a greater supply. That's how the market works...right?

Exactly my thoughts! I love POV and its also my biggest porn peeve. Especially the angle, and putting POV in the title when its clearly not POV. Brother Love was the first I saw and was consistently awesome. Also really like kinky scenes, Sasha Grey's bonus scene in Assault that Ass 9 is amazing. The best are the intimate ones eg when the girl's body is close like Veronika Vanoza in Organic Melons POV at the start in the corner standing pushing her ass back and feeling her neck and breasts kind of from behind is what its all about. I think maybe if they included multiple angles they might have a bigger audience? Similar to the Virtual Star titles. Eg for blowjob series would be great too you could change angles from POV to side on. But with angles what I would really love to see are 3some or group POV scenes where you can using angles, say having a 3some doggy and you can change from fucking to getting a blowjob. But that is because I really like seeing a girl giving a blowjob while getting anal, just seems that much more kinky to me, and to be able to do that and watch her doing that from either end so to speak and change as I want would be awesome. any of the POV lines on the OP's list that were through RLD/PXP are gone because they (RLD/PXP) are gone. some of the POV lines were owned there by the director/shooter,(i.e.: Vince/Stefano/Holmes/etc..) but after we all moved on from that place the release schedule wasnt as demanding for the individuals. but while there, guys could own their own lines, and yet still shoot house lines for the co., pumping up the releases w/POV since they were easier on the companies wallet. then you take soneone like Brother Love who, (like myself) usually just shot for people instead of owning lines, and had to wait for a company to throw you a bone and allow you to do one. and it takes more than just the $$$ to hire chicks & slap it together, you then gotta have a place to do distro for you, which is a whole different battle that usually doesnt make it worth you risking what little $$$ you have from shooting, etc. POV is still quite popular but most one off releases on dvd now are focused on parodies or schtick based reality setups, and if you dont have a guy who can hold a camera while he's performing in the scene, (like Rodney, Mike, Everhard, Vince, Brandon, Brother Love, myself, etc..) then you might as well just shoot a bg scene since you still gotta pay the meat vendor and therefore dont save any $$$. it's economics. if the $$$ is there on your return, then you are going to continue to bang em' out as part of your catalog until they dont. lates, Von S.
Thank you von_swine, an insider's perspective gives us outsiders a better idea of some of the whys and wherefores. One thing I wish POV releases had is more closeups of the female performers faces and their more body shots with the upper torso with their face. Just watching the continual "gyno closeups" gets boring after a while. Carmen McCarthy has a scene in Schoolgirl POV 1 which I found very erotic with plenty of closeup face shots during the scene. I like the Ty Endicott series on Bouncy pictures partially because of the variety of shots and the scenarios (compliant secretary, maids, students, etc.).
I consider a POV scene one where the performer is holding the camera during the sex. if someone else is doing the camerawork then I consider it a 'virtual' scene as now the male performer is merely a prop and not really controlling the action. during the former, anything can happen energy wise and can lead one to miss things because of having too much fun, or just getting to the end a.s.a.p. if the gal and you aint having the best chemistry and you dont have the luxury of killing the scene. there can be a million things you gotta deal with technically in addition to keeping your dick in the game all the while. that's why I have to scoff at critics of POV shooters saying it's so easy because it isnt. some days are, yes,(Kimberly Kane/Charley Chase/Claire Robbins/Evie Delatosso, etc..) but not all of em, and Im not naming who the 'tough' days were with, but there's been a few. but continuing your point about more facetime from the chicks; in a virtual scene you can get more of that footage because if Im holding the camera AND banging, my arms are only so long, but like whenever I shot some of the Face Full Of Diesel or Raincoaters POV scenes, you have more free range w/both performers in most positions and can grab those shots more freely. agreed...there are some that are excellent at filming it, like Mike John, Tim Von Swine, Chris Streams, Erik Everhard, Jules Jordan, Mick Blue (aka Grazer), and the POV BJ/Handjob movies by Tom Byron and Elegent Angel. Mike Quasar was the best at filming POV BJs - I wish the economy would improve enough to grant us another edition of "Blow Me Sandwich", "Head Case", and the other great Third Degree series "Whack Jobs" Now, more power to Mike Adriano, but his style isn't my cup of tea, you never get the body shots or face shot, its all focused on one portion of the girl. They have cameras in phones today that shoot better video than some of the movies out there. There has to new enough technology out there to just strap the camera on the guys head or something. But again, it has to be the idea behind the shoot, not just "Hey, bring the camera over here for a second and we'll call it POV". By the way, is there a 3d pov out there?
^ Exactly. There is no secondary revenue from an interactive DVD. You can't sell it for broadcast and it doesn't work well on the internet so with fewer and fewer DVD's being sold, it would be a gamble at best. We could do one inexpensively but I would rather people remember all the bells and whistles of past interactives than be disappointed with a half-assed new one.

I think multi-angle interactive blu-rays could be an answer. I have a couple of the My Plaything DVDs and they are fantastic, except for 2 reasons being the pic quality and the scenes are two short. At 2-3 minutes just as you are getting into it the scene stops. Both of which could be fixed with blu-ray. Add the necessity of multi-angle could make them more difficult to pirate, or that people be put off by needing to download an entire blu-ray to get the complete experience. btw How many angles can you get on a blu-ray?

But once all is setup for the interactive would be there for a new series, and could make a large part of the girls pay a percentage.. incentive to be more authentic :) No idea of the business models but anything that can be broadcast can be downloaded? Also I think may be a factor in piracy is the production line 5 meet/couch/bj/fuck/facial scene churned out on the cheap so people don't feel so bad. My thinking is see what blu-ray and multiple angles really offer and get inventive to create titles/series where the interactive or multi-angles are crucial to the experience? I can't hire out Faith Leon (my avatar) being on the other side of the world, but I would pay top dollar to have a blu-ray in which I can in realistic HD any night of the week.
It wouldn't take much to break up a dvd and put it on the web. Menu driven interactive on the web is no different than on my dvd player. The dvd is just short movies. Hell, one could make a killing with a site that had all the interactive girls available with just a click of the mouse. Pick my girl, pick my pleasure, go to town. Next time different mood, different girl or scene. It's not that there isn't secondary revenue, it's just that noone is doing it.

The only titles shot POV that had some heat to them was from Bang Brothers studio titled Big Mouthfuls. Just about all the rest I can't stand and is an instant scene killer for me. I can understand why it is less common now but I still see it pop up too often. If you look at the male performers who they use the POV style, many are out of shape and from time to time is used to hide their identity.
