My guess is that sometimes stores change their prices. The price search is updated a lot but not continuously.

Thanks for pointing out the pricing error. I have fixed it.

Our price search data is only as good as the data that we receive form the stores. XonAir lowered their price in our price search import to $21.50 on December 21st. I checked my logs and they haven't adjusted the price on Dream Quest since then. I'll drop them a note to see what's going on.

I just ran the XonAir price import and they are still providing the wrong pricing on over 100 titles. I have temporarily removed them from the price search until the problem is corrected.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi Drew,

here is another little mistake I found :

The title 'Lovers caught on tape' is shown as $24.95 being the cheapest price.
The price search doesn't even show that FiveStarDVD is carrying that title, and like the second and third movie of this series it's available there for only $8.99.

How are the prices from Fivestar updated ? I understand why the prices sometimes aren't consistent when the shops just changed their prices, but why doesn't the pricesearch even know that it's there, although the store has been carrying it for quite a while ?

btw: no need to apologize. Most of the time it's working great, and we know it's a service that requires a lot of time and work. Thanks for that.

That title was screwed up from Five Star because on 11-14 the title came in as part number 'dvxnloverscaughtontap'. On 11-16 the same movie came in as 'dvxnloverscaughtonta'. When we get duplicates from the same store they are sometimes automatically deactivated since the import ins't able to tell which title is the correct one. Once in a while we go through and clean up all of the duplicates and other garbage data. It's been a while since the last 'house cleaning'. With over 40,000 active titles in the database there's a lot of clean up to do.

The database maintenance is actually something that Steph and I spend quite a bit of time handling. We would love to hire someone to help us with it but we would have to pay them with porn.

BTW, I have fixed this particular title.

Hi Drew,

after following a thread between sonic and fuerte I did a little research ;) and noticed that the DVD 'Panochitas Gorditas 2' from FiveStar was mistakenly entered as 'Panochitas Gorditas' thus making two different entries.

Ahm... Well... I hope you know what I mean, don't know how to describe it better :)
