It occurs to me that one of the reasons that the Kink.com family of sites is so great because there is a huge class of girls who would never enter the adult industry through traditional means; yet are very intrigued by the Kink offerings and clearly comforted by the high degree of respect that Kink places on the specific limits of each girl. So what you end up with is girls who may not wander into LA to do the traditional route; with standard blowjob scenes, straight fucking etc... but are willing to head to San Francisco and be tied up, whipped, and have the shit fucked out of them by multiple partners. Case in point is the recent shoot on boundgangbangs with Kenzie Vaughn. This is an eighteen year old girl who decided that her VERY FIRST (and possibly only) porn shoot is a gang bang where she is tied up and does, among other things, a double anal. Her FIRST shoot. And she's basically high school age. I used to always wonder why Kink included the pre- and post- fucking interviews on their videos; now I realize a big reason is to make potential new talent who might be visiting their site feel very comfortable that kink will be able to fulfill their fantasies in a safe, controlled environment.
I think Kink attracts many people that sexually only do BDSM in their private lives anyway and can't even imagine having to have sex without the BDSM element. Believe it or not there is a subset of people that can't get aroused without Master/slave and/or bondage involved. Of course those people will likely do all of their porn for Kink and/or Intersec as they are incapable of performing well in a vanilla porn setting.
I absolutely LOVE shooting with Kink, they are rough and degrading like I like it but they also listen to your limits. I like having my limits pushed as long as I know that if it becomes to much I can stop it and with Kink that's what happens...BDSM is something I enjoy in my personal life as well!
^ Welcome to ADT Leya. I have to agree that Kink is one of the good guys in porn, I don't know of too many companies paying for airfare and providing sleeping quarters for their talent these days. However for new performers I would recommend taking a look at their site before taking a job if you don't have experience with BDSM (there is actually a video on Behind Kink that shows what happens when someone does not -- it causes a clusterfuck). Foot Worship and Fucking Machines would be the safest bets for the uninitiated female. For men, gay and Men In Pain mean just that, take a close look at this portion of the site if you are offered a scene on that end of Kink, preferably before accepting a scene.

I'm not saying you're wrong. But I think the main reason Kink is popular with new performers is because they have a ton of available work and deep pockets.
Actually, what I like best about kink.com is when the LA established pornstars(Chanel Preston, Ash Hollywood, etc.) fly north to work for them. It adds some variety to what one usually sees in their scenes. As for the unknown women you see in kink shoots, there are more misses than hits.
From what I've gathered, when Brazzers shoots girls/guys in Las Vegas instead of LA, they pay their airfare, too. The reason most bigger companies don't pay for that kind of stuff is because most of them already shoot in LA.
I'm frustrated that Kink does not do a Spanking line of movies. They have the talent, the expertise, and the equipment to make great movies. I wish they would apply all of that to our little niche of porn, spanking.
^My guess is that if it doesn't exist then it's either because performers are not interested in shooting this type of porn and/or there is simply not enough of a demand for them to bother adding it to their already extensive line of products.
That could be true in a lot of cases, but there are so many instances of girls who only have shot for kink and have done the most insane things from the get-go, and in their interviews it is abundantly clear that they are doing this as much as personal fantasy fulfillment as to earn money. If you go down the standard "classic" progression of a porn career; it used to be: -- nude "modeling" work, then... -- nude softcore photo shoots with a lesbian theme, then... -- nude photos shoots with a dude, then... -- girl on girl vids for a 3-6 months, then... -- they make the big leap into straight, vanilla porn... -- then after a few years they finally decide to do anal, then... -- they do some fetish stuff; light bondage, etc... -- then it's their first DP, followed by many more... -- then, just maybe, they decide to do double anal (of course only maybe one out of 500 girls ever get to this point... and thank god they do... I'm looking at your Jada Stevens and Kagney Linn Carter). This is definitely not typical, but it's kind of the standard progression that is assumed for female talent. So to see a girl who is 18 years old; basically either still in high school or a very recent graduate (like Kenzie Vaughn), who has seen enough porn in her very young life to have developed very specific fantasies, and is willing be gang banged by five dudes in a very, very rough scene that included a double anal, IN HER VERY FIRST SCENE EVER... to see all this happen I can ONLY imagine this happening at a place like kink that so clearly shows potential talent how safe and respectful their environment is. I have no doubt that Elegant Angel and some of the other good guys of the industry who shoot DAP and gang bangs provide a very safe and respectful environment as well. But nobody does what kink does; which is begin and end every shoot with interviews with the participants so you can get a sense of their comfort level and the safety level, provide a series of free "behind kink" videos showing exactly how the shoots are staged, being extremely upfront about their pay... etc. I'm just saying that the way Kink operates give license for young freaky girls to do the most extreme things on their very first shoot; something that no other company can seem to match...
^The fact that the interview can be interesting isn't why it exist because you know the before and after interview is so that the performer can't claim that she was an unwilling participant in her shoot at a later date. If the kind of porn Kink did wasn't so intense then I don't think they would go this route. The interview can and would probably be used against any performer trying to sue Kink by claiming she was forced into doing stuff she didn't want to or they didn't stop the shoot when she wanted to. The before introduces what will happen during the shoot and the safe words the performer can use at any time and the after interview confrims that the performer was fine with what went on during the shoot.
My sense is that you are correct in that there is a legality reasoning behind the interviews, but I also suspect that it is not so much for protection against a performer claiming coercion as presenting a clear picture to a wary public that everything is done consensually and safely. There may be an argument about protection from regretful performers by interviewing them before and after the shoot. But why would you post them if that's your only reason? Why not just keep them in a drawer for use during a lawsuit? That was what Max Hardcore would do (and a lot of good it did him). When Neesa went on youtube claiming that what max did to her was unconsensual (he pissed down her throat and she also claimed he gave her STDs in her throat, I think), he posted her post-scene interview in response (for what's it's worth she looked like a zombie who would say anything to get out of the situation in the interview; so I tend to believe her side of the story; to me it more incriminates max than exonerates him). It's pretty clear that the Kink folks are extremely careful about being fully legal and they've mentioned in the past how all of their concepts go through a legal vetting. Four or five years ago they planned to launch a bondange competition site where girls would compete to see who could endure identical bondage the most. But they quickly canned it when they realized that the competition element might encourage a performer to do something well beyond their comfort zone. So I think the before an after interviews serve a very public purpose of indicating that everything is safe and consensual... and the message is directed to the morality police, not the potentially regretful performer. And it's hard to argue with success; prior to kink, when did you ever see a performer fucked while bound with ropes? Prior to kink, how common was seeing a set of fists in a girl's ass and vag? Sure it happened occasionally, but it was always one-off situations or experiments. Remember when Diabolic (or maybe Anabolic) decided to start a series called "Rough Sex"? By the second DVD a performer freaked out on set and they shut the entire series down. Watching the scene in retrospect, it was the mildest of scenes by kink standards, but I think because the producers didn't have the overall supportive and open environment that a kink shoot seems to provide, it led to this single performer being very uncomfortable and led to the producers to realize the risks of the territory they'd ventured into.
Before I got into the business, Kink was my favorite site to watch and the one I had the most personal interest in shooting for. Of course I didn't even shoot for Kink until like 9 months into my career... but still, they're my favorite company I've shot for and I can't wait to work for them more and more. Yes, they're very respectful of performers, which is part of why I like them so much. But it's more than that... I think it's the way the company itself is structured, and the way it works. They are pretty transparent in their practices, which is rare, and everybody I've met who is employed by kink is just lovely. Even as a performer walking into the Armory, you're made to feel like you are part of a Kink family. They're doin' it right. :D
