There has been much legal debate in recent years about underage girls in artwork. The Supreme Court has ruled that because no harm comes to any child through the creation of such material, it is constitutionally protected speech. Obviously it was a split decision, but becomes precedent none the less.

I think lolicon is an excellent tool against predators for two reasons. First, it gives a harmless outlet to the occasional kiddie porn viewer. Second, it is perfect bait for law enforcement to find and track those people who are highly addicted to such material. They can make many a site full of this stuff without having to hurt or expose anyone in the process.

Maybe, just maybe, lolicon can contribute to the greater good after all...

I always thought that stuff was illegal in the USA. I think I read somewhere that it was legal for awhile and then banned just recently (or in the last 10 years).

Even if it was legal, anyone who would get this stuff would be caught and sent to jail. These days, even clothed "art" photos can be considered porn to uncle sam. Even text based story sites are shut down by the US government.

I was shocked to find that Amazon's Japanese site has this lolicon crap. I guess in Japan that sort of thing is no big deal or something and it's everywhere..I'll never understand that country.

Having just looked it up and hitting on a website, i think this is on very dodgy ground.

Hentai always had a lot of lolita figures (which isn't such big deal) but this is 'full on' promoting child porn. You can't argue that the drawings pretend to be anything else.

Although no child abuse has been committed it's the promotion and depiction of it that will get people into trouble over this.

On the other hand i don't agree with the censoring of adults dressed up in schoolgirl outfits which are cut out of many porn films here in the UK.

Well as of right now, lolicon is perfectly legal in the United States. The landmark decision came down in 2004, and there has been no further precedent to override it.

And I agree, lolicon is an endorsement of not just kiddie porn, but pedophilia itself. But as a law enforcement weapon, it can be used to catch predators who would otherwise not be apprehended...
