Because they assume the primary audience is men who don't give a shit.

I think it's a mistake to assume that a heterosexual male audience doesn't care about who the guy is. They do care about the guy in terms of his sexual appetite and performance. They want the guy to be really good at debauching his ladies and doing the kind of sex acts that they want to see.
Not having any guy's name on the front cover creates a false impression that the hot front-cover lady is there only to show off her good looks and not necessarily to get fucked really well. Such a unisex cover creates some doubt about the quality and the quantity of the sex that the hot front-cover lady gets in the film. Which isn't a good thing, if you want people to buy this film.
You do need to promote the fucking guy on the front-cover too, not in terms of his looks, but in terms of his ability and reputation to nail the asses of his lasses. Because the audience wants to see a lot more than just a hot-looking lady. They want to see the hot-looking lady get nailed really well.
It's the fucking guy, promoted for his ability to nail the asses of his lasses, who assures the audience that the hot front-cover lady gets fucked really well in the film. But when you promote a guy on the front-cover for his fucking ability and not for his looks, then you need to do it either with words or with a smaller picture that puts him in the background. You don't want to make his looks too prominent, because it's not his looks you are promoting.

I agree with that. They think that the straight male audience doesn't care for male performers? They are completely wrong. I mean, maybe there are those who look just for their favorite actress, but many look for scenes with their favorite actressess AND their favorite actors. And (surprise surprise!) some of the most porn actors in history are men: John Holmes, Ron Jeremy, Rocco Siffredi, Nacho Vidal, Peter North, Manuel Ferrara, James Deen, etc I mean those porn producers are so stupid to think that the male actor isn't important?

Men are real people too. In the interest of equality surely promoters will catch on they're more than porn cattle. They should be recognised for their work as much as we are.

I really don't understand why companies don't list male performer names. Lots of people - men, women, gay, straight, and everything between and without - want to know which male performer is in the scene, either to avoid them or seek them out.
I requested male performer names be listed on Elegant Angel releases here but got no reply. I did notice one release much later had the male performers listed in tiny font, but can't find my post about it.
There are companies who list male talent, primarily the companies who produce features and seem to approach the format in a similar fashion to mainstream. They used to list the male performers on releases back in the day, which was also a time when filmmakers were less anxious about depicting men.

There's a lot of apathy about listing performers period. I've complained in reviews I've written where the studio couldn't be bothered to list performers, or only did a half-assed job of it. You would think that listing people would make it easier for viewers to locate other titles (hopefully in a studio's own library) that they would want to see. Titles that they wouldn't normally find any other way.
