Same reason girls change their hair color or get breast implants. Everyone knows us guys are fickle beings, so anything a girl can do to change up or seem fresh is going to help her. A girl also might change her name for publicity reasons. If her name is too similar to another girl's, or not specific enough that fans can find her easily, she might be better off with something different. [Link]
