I'm not trying to knock anyone or belittle them, so bear that in mind, but...
There are a few director(s)(?) that do interviews with the girl before the scene starts (pretty sure on one is white, maybe Brandon Irons, the other black).
I guess my question to the rest of you out there is this: Are they trying to be so creepy? Is it part of the gig or what? I mean, it creeps me out and thankfully I can just fast forward by it, but the girls have to sit there and endure it and tbh I have no idea how they can not be scared to death - 'cuz honestly, creepy is putting it lightly imo.
I am genuinely curious here.

They're being creepy, but probably not on purpose. Just nerves. Nothing is more intimidating to a man than a superhot 18,19,20 year old girls. Turns guys into weirdos, makes them say things they wouldn't normally say. You want to hear a real creep? Check out the Bangbus interview with Madison Chandler. They dude is acting like a major fuckwad.

Yes, yes. If I had anyone ask me, "So....where are you from?" I would be very creeped out. It would be far less creepy to say nothing to the young lady and just start taking off her clothes.

You are not alone, many people can't tolerate that guy. Member reviews at websites show people saying they wish he would just shut the fuck up. I swear that guy acts like an immature child. The girls try to play it off but you can tell they can't stand it. I stopped viewing that series thanks to that faceless guy.
I have no problem with the interviews as long as they are kept brief. Brandon Iron and Ed Powers do it a lot and I often just want to find out their age.

Preston from Facial Fest does a great job, IMHO. Not scripted. Just a stream of consciousness dialogue.

^Your intervew to Taylor Rain in Straight to the A was actually interesting.
I don't know if it was a script or if this was true but she stated that she actually begun to be sexually active anally rather than vaginally and that she likes anal sex very much, given the skills she proved in all her career I tend to believe it was true

?! Am I missing something here? What's so "creepy" about asking a girl questions before the scene? Is it the type of questions? Is it because the girls are being questioned? I've seen girls interviewed before a scene and didn't think anything of it at all.

Nothing is wrong with it if it is done tactfully. This is not always the case.
How old were you the first time you lost your virginity? Where was it? Who was it with?
Do your parents know what you are doing?
Do you have a boyfriend?
Does he know you are here?
Do you like sex?
Let me see your tits.
Do you like big or small cocks?

It's not the questions, Brandon, it's the way they're asked. The tone. The (apparent) intent of something more than just simple curiosity, which could be anything but comes across as a sexual predator cornering his prey and playing with it for a bit. Someone who enjoys opening the girls up emotionally before taking her sexually - which isn't a big deal irl, but in porn I find it almost disturbing unless it's with an established veteran actress. It is obvious that some of the girls are not comfortable with it but answer anyway. I don't care what they agree to before the scene; their eyes and behavior always tell the truth of how they feel, imo.
Add to all that the fact that - lets be honest here - you're not exactly the most gentle guy a gal can work with... well, it just changes things a bit for me, personally.
Now, that's not to say you're a sexual predator or some monster, Brandon, that's just how it plays out to me when I watch. I'm sure other folks really enjoy the process, and apparently you're still in business so people like me are a rarity, yeah?
But if it's any consolation, I agree with others in this thread when they say there are far worse (for their liking). I can think of 3 right off the top of my head.

"It's not the questions,it's the way they're asked."
I would agree with this statement. But I suppose depends on how comfortable they are prior to shooting the scene..perhaps that's part of the "act". Some people like to "know" the starlet before the movie which is why they're asking these questions. I'm not a big fan of the movies that degrade the girls and make them uncomfortable. I think some of the interviews are done nice and friendly. Ironically I've seen this on amateur stuff...the Exploited Teens guy is friendly, almost nerdy (somewhat ironic given the title). I have only seen Cover My Face series and doesn't seem like Brandon is being creepy in my opinion.

Sometimes, it's not the questions, but the directors themselves. Consider Jake Malone. I'm sure he's a perfectly nice guy, and he's produced a lot of hot shit over the years. However, he has the gnarliest-looking hands in the world. When he would squeeze Sasha Knox's ass or tits, it was an unpleasant contrast. Then, there are Pat Myne and Jules Jordan. I have nothing against them as directors or performers. But they should either get someone else to talk to the girls, or have someone dub their lines, because their voices just don't cut it.

Just to throw my two cents out there, Brandon Iron is among the best at 'reading the human terrain' during a scene. He is surpassed only by Silvera, Jake Malone, Tom Byron and Sean Michaels.
No one would have thought that you were saying anything like that. Until you denied it.

Amusing thread.
Aside from his hilarious inclusion in it, I think Brandon typifies the slippery slope most any hetero male would face, who takes it upon himself to pose sexually intimate questions to countless women whom he barely knows, or are otherwise complete strangers.
While I'm sure a respectable number of today's hand picked sluts spring forth with zippy answers to his frank questions, on average, and unless it's scripted (which likely would prove an exercise in futility), I would assume most women under such prying, less than sensually provoked inquisition, are not always ready to reveal their prickly, sticky underside without showing a bit of candid discomfort.
As the camera is sharply focused on his female subjects, I suspect from Brandons perspective, who unfortunately no longer has Preston's teenage boyish innocence to fall back on, yet still is charged with improvising his own snappy responses, there's never much leeway between coming across as suavee' or slymee'.

MOO, The Iron Man's approach works because he has the ability to modulate a mixture of shyness, playfulness, and menace depending upon the woman he's working with.

I like when there are true moments of honesty, self-awareness, or confession. I'm not a ladies man. I am more than awkward in any social interaction. Still, I have met several kindred spirits in porn and I can't get enough of that vibe.
There really are perverted, slutty women. I've met them.

Okay, I get what you're getting at but I don't think it all falls on the person asking the questions. I think a director could ask a girl all those exact questions and the vibe that's gotten from the questions will wildly vary. If the girl has a great personality and is open it can make for an interesting/entertaining segment. If the girl is just going through the motions and gives stock answers it can be boring. If the girl is trying to hide something or is uncomfortable it can seem a bit awkward or "creepy".
I don't think directors/camera guys should stop asking questions because of the awkwardness because some girls can make it interesting. But yes, there are some guys who are terrible at asking questions and it just ends up bad. The key is to make the segment more conversational than to just machine gun her with questions.

Probably. Some of them. I never noticed Brandon Iron being particularly creepy, though maybe he's got a little more of that going on than some.
I have noticed some directors say things that will invariably be construed as being "creepy" by those who look for that stuff. I've wondered about it sometimes and I think it's probably intentional. I have no idea why (Well, I have suspicions but couldn't confirm them).
Well, they do a gazillion of those interviews and they always survive (apparently). I don't much care for the "interviews" because they're usually idiotic and have the same questions every time. And they go some places most people would probably rather not hear about "When was the first time you had sex?". I don't know that I consider that a creepy question. Just unnecessary.

Then I would imagine that same awkwardness is carried into an already awkward situation, which only magnifies things. Get a girl in there that is nervous to begin with and perhaps you've got the perfect storm of creepy.

I can give an example from my own experience.
No one told me what kind of questions I was going to be asked, so I didn't have any "prepared" answers. Some kinds of questions are off limits for an honest answer for me, so without a prepared answer ready I really felt like a deer in the headlights.
Specifically, "When did you lose your virginity?" totally threw me for a loop, and I ended up saying "I don't know." That made me look like a moron, and I knew it. Knowing I had already started the questioning on the wrong foot made me anxious about the rest of it and I just wanted to get up and walk out. After that first interview I made sure to get a few answers together, but I always dreaded being asked something I wasn't ready for.

Okay...I just thought of an example of what I thought were "creepy" questions but they were part of the concept of the movie...I guess. I saw a couple of "JM PRODUCTIONS" MILF movies that that interviewed the women before the sex starts and asks them questions I'm very surprised they answered. I only watched the interview of one pornstar because she was the reason I bought the movie in the first place but I was shocked by the line of questioning.
It was a MILF movie and they had a caption on screen with the pornstar's name and the number of kids she had. The interview then went into the ages of the kids, if they all had the same father, who keeps the kids while they are shooting scenes, and questions of that type of nature. I guess the point was JMP wanted this to be a true "MILF" movie and not simply a film with "older" women calling themselves MILFs. The thing that I couldn't help but wonder was "Are there people who think hearing this is sexy?". The other thing that was surprising to me is that the pornstar seemed to be honest with her answers even though she didn't come off in the best light by telling the truth.

This has to do with tactless people who ask insensitive questions. I hear this same question asked all the time. The people who conduct the interviews as well as the directors are not the sharpest knives in the kitchen. Some are a card or two short of a full deck.

Draxxx: I haven't seen that scene and cannot speak for anyone involved in it. I do my own thing. My intention always is to discover something about a woman that makes her unique or interesting. I am genuinely interested in models who are new to the industry. Interviews often reveal motivations, unmet needs, or true perversion. I get off on it.

^This guy is awesome. Interviews are cool it's shows if they're really into it or just doing it for a check and nothing more. Nothing more being the case, then I would imagine any question made them feel aqward and not want to answer cause they just want to get paid and go home. I'm sure most scenes come down to the check, but some chics seem to expect less than what they signed up for.

It wasn't that big a deal. Just because I thought it went in a "creepy" direction doesn't automatically make it so. It was a JM PRODUCTIONS movie. They go a bit extreme at times. It was a MILF movie and I've seen people complain that some of the women in porn aren't really moms. So this movie apparently set out prove this was a true MILF movie. Lastly, I'm prety sure the girls knew these type of questions were coming and weren't ambushed. It just wasn't my type of thing but apparently some people like or get off on hearing a mom talk about such things.
Howard Stern asks pornstars and even non-porn stars the exact same type of questions and people seem to dig it. The biggest difference is that Howard is smoother at asking the questions and injects a bit of humor in it.

I can't remember exactly what she said but it was stuff like the guy had problems with her being in porn, going back and forth with who'd be keeping the kids, different fathers, she wanted another kid but he didn't so she did stuff to get pregnant without him knowing, taking one of the kids with her on the road...that type of thing....if I'm remembering correctly. Not horrible stuff but not the type of stuff you'd admit to strangers and your fanbase if you didn't have to.
I'm pretty sure she was telling the truth. If a person was going to lie they'd make up stuff to make themselves look better. It might've been worse than she let on but I think it was generally true. She didn't seem to think it was all that bad and had a sense of humor about it. The interview didn't make me dislike her and if it wasn't just before the sex scene I probably would've enjoyed it but I just thought it was strange/creepy to have that conversation just before a sex scene started.

Insensitive? How do you figure? The girl is going to be fimed having sex, so the questiion is more relevant than the director asking her to explain Darwin's Theory of Evolution.

No. It really isn't any more (or less) relevant. If the object of the interview is to reveal something of a performer's personality, then ask something about what they like and what they do for fun. I mean, seriously, "What's your favorite color?" is more relevant to personality than "When did you lose your virginity?"
My only real issue with the interview thing is that they don't tell you ahead of time what you're going to be asked. When someone says to me, "Then I'll ask you a couple questions, like "What's your name?" and "Where are you from?" and introduce you to the guy on camera and you'll get into your scene." I'm thinking, "Cool, no problem." and when "When did you lose your virginity?" comes out of nowhere, I'm so flustered that I can't think up a quick non-answer like, "That's for me to know and you to find out!" because what is running through my mind is, "Holy crap, I can't give the real answer to that, it would be a disaster."
I did learn from the experience, though. I learned to tell people not to ask me certain questions, and I made up some answers for others that I would consistently be asked.

One thing I'm thinking is that we, the non-performer non-director public, have no similar circumstance to compare. I mean, obviously yes we get to know someone by asking "Where do you come from?" and so on, but we don't ask these questions just before or after sex on camera. Not often, anyway. And our conversation isn't being filmed to be seen together with that partner having sex on camera.
I don't have an experience similar enough to guess what I think would be appropriate. I forgive the directors/questioners most of the time because they're mostly just winging it in a situation where there are no standards or rules.
But I agree that some of these Q&A sessions give me the creeps. I hate seeing girls squirming with discomfort as they try to answer something they're unprepared for, or where the questions focus on childhood sex experiences. I agree with Kimi that asking about losing virginity isn't particularly relevant. For many people that's a very personal question about sex, not just a sexual question. Frankly I reckon "Can you fit two cocks in your ass?" is going to be less personal for a lot of porn performers than "When did you lose your virginity?"
Sure, I guess some performers won't mind the most personal questions, but the way I think of porn most performers have a wall of sorts between their personal life and their on-screen life, so the line where 'too personal' gets crossed will be pretty solid.
I don't need the Q&A to get very very personal. When I watch porn I don't think the girls are letting me into their most intimate moments. That might happen occasionally, but more often by accident than design, I'd guess. But what I'm looking for is whoo-hooh letting your hair down having a blast interactive exercise. Not a deep emotional insight, or a deeply personal moment. That's a bonus given by a performer sometimes, not a regular part of the porn deal.
I do like it if I glimpse more of a performer's personality in the BTS or Q&A, but that would very rarely come from intimidating a person with questions they find too personal. The most revealing answer can come from the most innocent or silly question - What's your favourite colour? What's your favourite state capital? I like hearing about higher education, hobbies, travel, pets; all sorts of things that tell me who someone is.
One of my favourite BTS moments is of Nicki Hunter singing this really lovely meditative tune. Yes, she looked sexy as hell at the same time, but she was concentrating on this beautiful melody. And that told me something about her mind and heart; I felt moved by the beauty she could convey in music. It reminded me of "Song to the Siren" by This Mortal Coil (also by others but this my favourite version). Man, an excellent porn performer with a gorgeous smile who could sing me into a trance - how cool is that?

I do get what you're saying Kimi, but then again, based on a lot of the posts that you've written, you're more of an exception than the rule when it comes to the average porn girl. I can't count the number of interview segments that I've watched that the guy asks a question and the following happens; the girl looks off to the side, says, "UUUUMMMMMMMM" and says 3 words like it's a major project to put those 3 words together. It's like pulling teeth to get the girl to remotely open up, thus the simple questions like the virginity question. OTOH, you'd think that the guy asking the questions would tell the girl a few minutes in advance what questions he's going to ask and also how the girl should answer them.

Personally, for pornstars I would figure the question of "How old are you?" (that's asked a lot) would be a more sensitive question than "When did you lose your virginity?". I really don't see asking when a girl lost thir virginity as such a bad question unless the answer is bad. If the answer is 8 or 9 years old then it becomes a bad question. Perhaps it's an issue for some girls because they had a bad childhood?

It makes me squeamish because the answer is probably early teens (or earlier). So now I'm watching/listening to an old dude probing into an underage girl's sexual experience. Is that even legal? Probably so (since everyone does it), but it makes me scramble for the remote and skip to the next chapter.

^To each their own but I really don't think it's that bad (or creepy) to ask when a girl lost their virginity, and some of the questions mentioned here. Maybe I'm desensitized for hearing Howard Stern ask those same questions of everyone from Julia Roberts to all the pornstars that appear on his show. If a person doesn't think it's a big deal it isn't. If they have something to hide or be embarrassed about then it's a whole other thing.
The one thing I stopped to realize after awhile was that perhaps some pornstars don't want to answer those questions because of being taken advantage of when they were younger and coming from a dysfunctional family of some sort.
In other words the questions are only as creepy as the interviewee takes them and the answers given.

Who wants to see someone squirm on camera or being caught off guard? If the girl is uncomfortable with the questions it is a scene killer before the action even gets underway.
A few basic questions with a very brief interview is fine. I like to know their age, height, whether they shot before and maybe shoe size if they have nice feet. All the personal questions about their life is way out of line.
Just because Howard Stern is an asshole doesn't mean the directors have to be assholes too.

Not everyone squirms. More often than not the girls answer the questions with no problems. Sometimes the answers are interesting and entertaining. Even the example of the girl being asked about her kids, she had no problem answering the questions and she offered up stuff that wasn't even asked. If the results always ended up with girls squirming or looking put off by the questions then you'd have more of a point but from what I've seen much much more often than not they have no problems answering the questions. I've seen one guy ask how much oney the girl made and she just laughed and told him "I'm not telling you that!". I just don't buy into asking an adult about to have sex on camera when she lost her virginity as such a horrible thing and nothing to freak out over.
You're one person and don't represent the total porn audience. I personally don't care about any of the questions you mention. I think asking the girl's age is more out of line than asking them about when they lost their virginity. If they're seen as being too old it could cost them work. If the girl has a sexy story about losing their virginity it could add to the scene/fantasy for some people. If a girl has a boyfriend/husband I think it's always interesting to hear how he feels about it and deals with it. When they had their first girl/girl experience can be fun to hear. It's interesting to hear if the girl's family knows what they do and what the girl tell them they do if they don't. If the girl doesn't want to answer they don't have to.
The directors are trying their best to put together entertaining content. I've heard some funny/interesting/entertaining Q&A sessions that have made me even bigger fans of certain girls. It's ofen nice to hear that many of these girls are fun and/or down to earth or just a typical normal girl who ended up in porn. Although not everyone is good at asking questions I don't think "personal" questions shouldn't be asked.

Hopefully, you'll soon start making contributions to this BB that go beyond the din of your one note tune "Not the way I'd Do It" that you bleat out on a tin horn.
While you've established your tastes, you've yet to demonstrate that your views are tasteful. Or that you really know much about pr0n.
You decry what you perceive as a declining civility in pr0n. You pine for the good old days when there was more order and decorum. Well, do you really have an idea why things were more genteel "back in the day" than they are now? Is it just because directors and producers had a better vision for showing people sucking and fucking? Or might a reason be because the source of the funding for the Industry came from individuals and organizations wanted products that generated more sales than controversy (and attention from local and federal law enforcement agencies)?
