I learned about this actor the other day at some forum. I had no idea who this was. I saw a thread where he answers questions, and he talks a lot of shit about the industry. Seems like he's pretty bitter about it.
I know it's not all rainbow and roses off cameras but, this guy seems like he goes a bit over the top with it. He makes it seem like if you are in the industry and you enjoy it as a male actor you are a sociopath or something along the lines. I know plenty of male actors that are in the industry and are very happy with life.
Here's the thread I saw:
http://chuckpalahniuk.net/forum/1000026/ask-a-pornstar
Why did he stay active for so many years if he doesn't even enjoy it?
Anyone knows what's the deal with this guy?

^I don't think he's talking shit about the business. I think he's being brutally honest with his views on the business and how it's affected him.

I agree it is even obvious we just see the female stars so we are stuck to their appearance but he knows them ,he knows them in ways we don't , what if he had to work with a star he hates or he knows trashed his name behind his shoulder and yet he have to work with her?
What about to work with someone enemy of water with a stinky pussy?
What about those alcoholic or drugged with a breath like whisky and barely able to stand still?
Many things , also he said he's desensitized to sex , which might be true he's done everything with some fantastic chicks almost every day obviously he's not as sensitive as he once was.
He just said things like these and also said he had some fantastic fun most of the times.

I have a hard time finding the parts where he says he had "fanastic fun", he is so cynical about it all the time, and if you actually read throught his posts he claims that he has been 'desensitized to sex' for years now and that he only did it for the paycheck.
About "working with people he doesn't like". Well, it happens on every single job ever, there is bad people everywhere, so you deal with it, try to change things, or if you don't like it then just leave.
I think he complains too much and doesn't appreciate his opportunity enough. If you aren't passionate about the job, why are you at it? Leave the spot to someone that deserves it.
People like Rocco Siffredi have been passionate since day 1 and they still are. This is why they are the best.
This guy is simply not at the level and should have left years ago and leave the place for the new Roccos who really want to do it and be passionate about it.

Agreed, Todd and Laurie. It's an interesting read. One thing that is a little irritating is that he speaks of his own experiences as being "the porn experience," so it comes off a bit like a bunch of generalizations. But there is a lot of stuff here that applies to culture at large, not just porn, and that very few people (let alone male porn performers) are openly talking about.

First off you don't have to kiss, eat out or fuck your coworkers in any other job than in porn , it's a bit different than having an asshole sitting at your side ,
furthermore that topic has been written in Fri, 04/23/2010 I don't think it is "on the spot" since almost nobody noticed it for over two years and half , in addition he was answering to some questions from some members , and he spoke the truth , can't see any actual reason to complain , if you don't like the answer don't ask.
last he said "I did enjoy every day at first. I still do sometimes" "fantastic time" was a sum up by me not a quote , but the meaning was that.

Thanks for saying this. I'm amazed at the number of people try to minimize and generalize making porn by comparing it to "any other job". Unless you're comparing it to escorting/hooking it's nothing like "any other job".

maybe for the same reason almost 98% of the girls do porn in the first place: EASY MONEY

Yeah, this is what I meant. The way he types is like "hey, this is how the porn experience is for everyone" and not a personal experience.
Yeah, but the bottom line is you get really good amount of money for fucking hot girls.
Yes, sometimes you may have to fuck someone you don't like, but that's a given.
You wouldn't see guys like Rocco or Manuel to ever complain. They turn every scene into a passionate one, thats why they are the best out there and don't make for shitty ragdolls with dicks like most male "talent".
How could it be "easy" if he had to fuck people he didn't like? It seems the industry has had a pretty negative impact on him. You can read how he is now pretty much asexual, and sometimes he wouldn't even like to get touched by his girlfriend. Seems like he was never meant for the job, unlike other guys.

^ Yes. It's all about the individual. Clearly there are girls in porn who think it's great and get exciting about shooting scenes. Some girls do it but don't enjoy themselves as much. Some girls have given it a try and decided it's not something they can do and leave the business. The same goes for the guys. There are porn performers with friends and family that support/accept their profession and there are performers who have friends and family that think what they're doing is bad. The performers who have accepting support probably have a much better experience in the porn biz.
If a performer is comfortable with their porn career and isn't forced to do sex acts they don't want to or perform with people they don't want to and doesn't have pressure to do something else, I would think porn wouldn't be such a bad job.

Just because an individual had a shitty experience being in porn doesn't mean everyone else hates it.
If thinking the opposite helps you sleep better at night or whatever then go on.

because having sex isn't a difficult thing (even with people you dislike). you could have argued that "having good sex" or "keeping an erection" might be difficult, but this is porn we're talking about. if you show up with a heart beat, a stiff cock and showered, you're 90% qualified for the job.

He complains way too much and doesn't care about it. As I said, other people don't and are passionate about it.
This is the problem with porn. Any lazy idiot can be a pornstar. If there was a more extreme filter beyond having a long dick and having an erection, we would have more real talents like Rocco or Manuel, but we have to suffer so many bad scenes with so many people who don't even care about what they are doing beyond the money.

I actually can't see your point, you brought here a post written 2 years and half ago , where a porn performers ANSWERING to a very specific question spoke the truth about him and the way porn changed him , it wasn't a press conference.
You admittedly didn't even know him before or know very little.
He said he has a way to make love that is passionate , sweet and nice and has been asked to perform rough sex , he didn't like to "use" women that way but he did , he's still performing didn't retired , so what is your point?
Rocco is the opposite he likes it rough and performs it rough , also Rocco was tired of porn he had enough and did quit porn for a two or three years but he discovered he would sell more if he's in his movies so he came back.Talking about "passion for porn"
I really can't understand why you're complaining about Tyler who said years ago about HIS experience and didn't even said it was shitty it isn't just as fun as it was , so what?
Tyler by the way is one of the few performers with actual acting abilities and this is why he performs often in parodies and featured movies rather than gonzo

Im not the only one saying that the way he writes is "irritating" in the sense of making seem his experience as if it was the universal experience for everyone else.
Tyler left the industry a year ago in 2011, you are making it seem like it was written 10 years ago.
Tyler says he got tired of the industry YEARS before retirting, so he was having sex for the paycheck and nothing more.
Tyler has said that he ended in the industry because of a mixture of being lazy, bad decision making and being fired of his job.
Rocco entered in the industry because it was his dream since an early age when he discovered you could do it. Same goes for Manuel and other guys who are still doing with the energy of a 20 year old.
Rocco has said that he came back to porn because of sexual frustration (he would get random erections and would even have to resort to prostitutes). These guys are sexual beasts and it translates on their scenes.

^ If Tyler Knight is making generalizations, you are too. Your perspective, however, tends to be the common perception of men in porn: that their involvement is uncomplicated and natural due to their being male. Tyler Knight's comments are rarely heard, and I think it's a good thing to hear more diverse and honest reflections about the industry.

I'd really like to know where you got all of this
Rocco was a model and begun porn because he wasn't working enough as a model it was a side work , his career has been pushed by Gabriel Pontello at fiirst and then rocketed by John Stagliano.
To the second thing let me laugh , he still was a director , he's married to a gorgeous Hungarian woman known as Rosa Caracciolo who was a former pornstar if he got these "random woods" why he didn't just go home? He also although he wasn't performing when she quit was still producer and director , you know he did the casting , not to mention all those pornstars who like him and would fuck him anytime ,it is VERY unlikely he was forced to seek for hookers
As for Tyler retired a year ago, although movies with him are still issued it was a year and half after his post and I say it again it wasn't a press conference it was and answer to a question in a forum and if really quit it was a clear sign of a some kind of discomfort for him so he quit , then again so what ?
You said if you don't like then go.
He did.
again what is your point?
to attack someone who is consistent with his personal feelings?
well we need more men like him IMO.

I don't get how you keep insisting on this. Who cares if it's not a press conference? In fact if he is making direct answers then he is more honest about it than he would in a press conference because things there always tend to be more "Politically correct" than direct interaction on an internet forum.
If you are able to read, you will see how he says he has been desintesized of sex for years now and he would only go to the set for the paycheck. Yes, he quit, but he quit YEARS after doing the job with 0 passion.
My point is, if you don't like it you don't keep doing it for YEARS until you quit, when there is people out there who would love to be on his position.
As for Rocco, he explains it all himself on this 20 minute interview:
http://forajidos-brigada21.blogspot.com.es/2008/07/buenafuente-entrevista-roco-siffredi.html
Too bad you can't probably understand it.

I live in Rome I heard him countless times over the years on Italian TVs, a 20 minutes interview won't change HOURS of many others including some of his female partners.
anyway are you here to advertise Rocco or to attack Tyler? can't really see your purpose here
Also desensitized doesn't mean dead he meant he's not as reactive as he was when she begun , he also said he's reactive to imagination a clothed woman with transparent robes would do more than a naked performer acting aggressively
again so what?
he's talking about himself and how porn affected his life and changed him, I think he has the right to.
Also I still can't see the purpose of a critic to a retired performer for a thing he said years ago and to which he can't explain
I thing you're way too late for this.

Again, you fail to realize how he said he entered the porn business because of being lazy and bad decission taking, when you heard that you know it will not end well.
Guys ike Manuel Ferrara dreamed about it and thats why they still love doing it.
That's the difference.

LCF why don't you take time and read that Tyler Knight said. He got a point there, I didn't know he is retire from last year. Ever he not a big name black guy like Lexington Steele, Sean Michael, Mandingo or Prince Yahshua. Lot of guy want to do porn because it's a dream job but the real thing it's not. You don't get paid that much because the girls do, and if you are black guy then it get harder for them because most but not all the girls in porn don't do IR or they will wait for year to do a scene with a black man for more money. Also read what he said bout Men and woman in porn

iLoveGirls there are lots of men in porn who don't fuck with passion and psychological intensity and athleticism like Rocco Siffredi & Manuel Ferrara & Nacho Vidal.
So I don't thimk it is fair of you to single out and bash Tyler Knight just because he don't fuck with passion and psychological intensity and athleticism like Rocco Siffredi & Manuel Ferrara.
I wish there was more men in porn who fuck with passion and psychological intensity and athleticism like Rocco Siffredi & Manuel Ferrara & Nacho Vidal, but sadly there are not.
Rocco Siffredi & Manuel Ferrara & Nacho Vidal are the very best and there are in a league of there own.

You are right. I don't want to underrate Tyler, but he is underrating having the opportunity that is fucking hot girls for a living.
Also, everyone started at the very bottom. Manuel Ferrara was a premature ejaculator when he started doing porn. He didn't get paid shit at the start. He slowly got better because he was pasionate about the job and wanted to improve. He was commited since the start. So with years he became what you see today.
Tyler got there because he got fired from his job. Manuel Ferrara left his job as a teacher to pursue the dream.

Seriously, you've got to be the only person who cares so much why/how a male talent got in the business. To me, it's like he stole your lunch money or something and you've stewed about it for years; it's like you have a personal vendetta. Did you fail your porn audition or something hence your resentment toward someone who made a name for themselves in the business while seemingly being less appreciative about porn than you?
Personally, I'd rather watch a male talent like Knight who doesn't feel the need to slap girls and shove his hands in their mouth to validate himself like the two you mentioned.

He probably didn't have a better option at the time so he stayed in porn until the better option came along or he couldn't do it anymore. Whether he was desensitized or didn't particularly like the job or the girls or whatever, he was still able to get the job done and directors were willing to hire him. So why hurry to quit before he had something better to take it's place?
Yeah, he had a job where he got to have sex with hot girls but just because a girl is "hot" doesn't mean she's easy to work with. Plus I'm sure after awhile banging hot girls regularly doesn't hold the same excitement for some people after doing it for so long. It's like the old saying... For every great looking girl that all the guys want there's a guy who's tired of that same girl.

Seems you don't know what you are talking about.
You wouldn't see guys like Manuel doing that unless the scene is a rough one. Check Manuel Ferrara - Tori Black scene for example. That sex alone is better than entire Tyler's career in porn.
Im yet to read the part where he says that.

Yes, "at first", then the rest of his career is basically doing it for the paycheck with 0 passion, unlike Manuel etc.
Again, Manuel with Tori Black scene or any of the scenes with Katsumi = better than entire Tyler Knight career.

I can't understand if you are besotted with Manuel or just hate Tyler in fact he didn't say he did just for the money he said he hadn't the same enthusiasm and fun he had the first YEARS in porn.
You know the same applies with couples ,their sexual attraction diminish over the years due to their age and habit their sex become routine , I don't think an husband stays with his wife just because she washes his dishes and clothes , nor I believe a wife stays with her husband because he pays her food.
There are different times in life ,different seasons , Tyler went through some of them and then he signed a line and decided to quit.
I wouldn't judge him just a mercenary , besides you said this:
Now you're judging his WHOLE CAREER , you either lied in your OP just to attack him faking ignorance or you do actually know nothing about him and his passion on set.
I ask again what is your actual purpose with this thread?

Do you guys hear yourselves? Guys in porn are a prop, nothing more nothing less. They aren't hired because they are passionate lovers, they're hired because they're reliable and they can get it up and get it off on command in front of a crowd of people. Nothing more. To paraphrase long ago porn actor Jerry Butler from his book, "performers in porn are nothing more than an interchangeable piece of meat!" Contrary to what you might think, guys in porn don't get paid to "bang hot chicks all day" They are actually paid to maintain wood for an extended period of time while someone films them for a commerical release. It's not about anyone's onscreen pleasure or passion, otherwise guys wouldn't beat themselves off mercilessly to cum on camera, it's about how the finished product looks on disk. If Tyler Knight, whomever that is, is talking shit about the biz, chances are the novelty of porn wore off quickly and the realization of being just an interchangeable piece of meat sunk in real quick.
Check out the link listed earlier in this thread and it will tell you that porn isn't all sunshine, glamour, and rainbows.

Tell me where he says "same enthusiasm and fun he had the first YEARS in porn". I don't see where he says he loved doing it for years.
Of course I watched a lot of scens from this guy before making the thread.
Watch scenes from guys like Manuel Ferrara. If the guy is really exceptional good the director will simply let the scene flow. These guys make the scene THEIR OWN. Count the amount of times there is a cut or something forced on the way the angles etc are filmed. These guys are so good that they are just letting themselves go most of the time, because the directors know the intensity is amazing and it would be stupid to cut. Listen to the Manuel Ferrara podcast, he says that he falls in love with the women he is fucking, that he can feel feelings of love when he is fucking passionately. And this translates in the scenes. This translates on how a male talent starts having lots of female admirators too. We need guys like him on the business so we could have high quality scenes only.
James Dean on porn:
This is the fucking actitude. Someone who can put some perspective and values enough his opportunity.

I guarantee you company owners/directors like John Stagliano, Brad Armstrong, and Steve Hirsch have more fun making porn movies than the male performers because they can bang the female performers off screen without a bunch of guys standing around watching and telling them what to do and when to stop/start and they banged who they wanted when they wanted. And of course they got paid tons of money being on the production side and not the performer side of the biz.
Male performers don't make a lot of money at all (i.e. average of $150-300) but they have to do all the work per se and if they screw up a few times (i.e. cannot get hard) they are done or get put on woman's no list. And as I've posted before their options for making money after leaving the porn biz are even more dismal than the female performers options. Who is going to hire you -- excluding adult industry related companies? The first thing they will ask for is a resume showing what you have been doing the past 5-10 years right? So Mr XXX you have no work experience besides doing porn movies? That limits your options to jobs which are low profile (can't have customers recognizing you as a porn star), jobs that don't involve kids (pornstar + kids = hysteria), jobs that don't require any work experience or college degrees, and so on. That leaves very low paying dead end jobs with no benefits. Add to that the current recession making even those type of jobs scarce.
Once you go down that pornstar career path the longer you stay in the porn biz the harder it will be for you to get out. That's why a lot of people leave after couple years. The ones who stay in 10+ years are really stuck unless they can get other jobs within the industry working behind the scenes (which probably pay less) or start their own business. If you are a male performer its unlikely you have saved enough money to start your business.
The women have more options available. To start they make a lot more money than the guys which they could save up if they were smart. They can leverage their fan base to dance or do websites (although the revenue stream is way down now). They can escort. Now if they want to get out of adult biz entirely they could use their money (assuming they saved it) to go back to school or buy/start a small business. They could find some stable guy to marry and support them. They could have a baby and collect federal and/or state assistance (i.e. join the 47% group Mitt Romney hates). You get the idea.
But let's be realistic here. Most of the guys who became performers are not college grads working on their careers? Just read their interviews and you see most of them were struggling, unemployed, working "McJobs", ex-cons, slackers, and some just plain losers. Some started as suitcase pimps following (or pushing) their ex-stripper girlfriends into the biz.
A few like Rocco might make out good. But primarily because they started their own production company. But now a lot of those companies are struggling right? Remember Red Light and Anabolic?
For a good eye opener goto Papi Chulo's website and read some of interviews he did with lot of well known male stars (not the gay ones):
http://www.papichulosblog.com/papiinmiamifl/in_bed_with_papi_chulo
Read their interviews and about see what they were doing before they got into porn and how they got into porn. It's very eye opening for guys who may be fantasizing about becoming a male performer.
IMHO the best role model for a male pornstar might be Dave Cummings not Rocco. ;-)

I would not. The bottom line is you are getting paid to fuck hot girls. The pros overcome the cons. It's impossible to not sound at least a bit silly complaining for a job like that, specially when most people are unemployed.

Stagliano and Armstrong were both performers long before they became directors.
As for Rocco, when he first went into retirement it was because of STDs and burnout, so it's not like he's always singing one tune on porn either.

Im not talking out of ignorance. I know guys in the porn industry. I've been there watching filmings on entire films, not only scenes. If I were to show this thread to the guys I know in porn they would laugh at you thinking this is some difficult shit to deal with. Let me tell you, all I saw was some guys fucking hot girls and the only "bad" thing is they would need to stop when some guy screamed "SWITCH". Oh such a hard job.
Im glad the ilusion that your average middle class job is better than porn is alive and well for you.

Yeah yeah yeah, save it for the tourists will you. I've been in the entertainment business for close to 15 years now so I know a fanboi/someone blinded by the glamour/novelty of the situation when I hear one talk. One only needs to read the recent Tommy Gunn article that was posted here to fully grasp the reality of being a guy in porn. I don't recall the thread that it was posted or I'd provide the link, but suffice to say, even though Gunn is a reliable performer in the industry, the article stresses the cold reality of the business.

iLoveGirls Being a male porn star is NOT EASY job and there are under a lot of Pressure and Nacho Vidal said in a interview that 95% of male porn stars take viagra and 5% is old school. Please watch Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends - Porn and Evan Stone on How To Be A Male Porn Star
O yes and Evan stone is one of top men in porn. he has been in the porn for 15 years and won AVN Award – Male Performer of the Year 3 TIMES.

iLoveGirls = bitter with some kind of agenda. There's no other reason he'd continue harping on such an irrelevant topic and resurrecting a thread that had been dead of natural causes for 5 days.

Here's recent interviews done with Mr Marcus and Tommy Gunn around 2006 I think.
Talk about how they got into the biz and what they were doing before porn.
Mr Marcus interview
Tommy Gunn interview
I didn't know Mr Marcus was married with 2 kids. Got to be rare to find a woman
(who is not a performer herself) who puts up with husband doing porn. Rocco's
wife used to be pornstar. Tommy was married to Rita Faltoyano for a while. They
don't talk to much about the bad stuff. Read the papi chulo interviews I posted
link to above to see what other male performers say about doing porn. In general
its great when you are young and new but the longer you stay in the more it
becomes a job with diminishing returns.
