Ok, this really isn't a message ABOUT fisting movies. From my understanding, long ago they released a fisting movie in the USA and the porn industry put a self-imposed ban on fisting. Why did they do this exactly and what movie made them do it? Does this mean it's really banned and completely illegal. For example, if someone just decides one day to making a fisting movie in the usa are they going to get their asses sued? Has anyone tried to release fisting material in the USA?
Also, thank god SCAT is banned. I find it the most disgusting thing ever (especially the Japanese variety). When was it decided that such a thing was illegal to produce and sell in the USA?
I hate to admit it but I like certain fisting and golden shower titles. It's just so strange that they're banned here but so many countries allow them.
This is not your question I know, but asking for a ban of what YOU consider disgusting is the same way of thinking of those who asked (and obtained) to ban golden showers and perhaps fisting.

It's not illegal, per se: it's just part of that grey area that the industry still is cautious to dabble in to, worrying that it might be going too far and instigate an obscenity charge.

I don't know if there was a particular movie the started it all.
Basically, it's a shady area where the guidelines have not been clarified. With the 'community standards' concept in prosecution, they just don't know exactly where they stand, so to be on the safe side they don't do it.
You can get fisting and pissing if you order overseas (or from some that distribute overseas material like Scott Kinney), and there is some available on the web.
There was one company, I don't remember which one it was, that realeased a DVD with a fisting scene as a hidden Easter Egg. When the retailers found out, they pulled it off the shelf and sent it back. It was the retailers that didn't want the possible trouble, there was no prosecution that I heard of.

Wasn't there a prosecutor in California who defined what movies or acts she would consider building cases against?

They are not banned in the US, except for children, but no one wants to jump into the ring and try to sell these openly. Especially with the current government.

Oh, I just wanted to point out that I didn't say I would want it banned. If it was allowed here I wouldn't care, but i'd still think it was sick and wrong. I AM glad that it IS banned though. The price of freedom is definitely putting up with a lot of stuff you hate. Of course some people just don't get that.

Adam Glasser was prosecuted for the distribution of Tampa Bay Tushy Fest #1 (1998)for fisting by the LA city attorney. It ended with a plea bargain where the obscenity charges were dropped and Glasser plead guilty to disturbing the peace. After that I don't think anyone released fisting until Skeeter.
I have no knowledge on the subject but can only offer my opinion and I agree with almost everyone so far..I don't watch many types of films including scat,pissing, etc but I am fully behind supporting them and allowing them to be released. You gotta love Skeeter pushing the limits thats what a free country is. This is another reason I strongly support Rob Black even though he is despised by more than half the Adult world.
I would agree with that statement if Skeeter were the person who is selling the DVD's. Unless it is clearly disclosed to the store owners who sell adult DVD's that that this title features fisting, then Skeeter is putting thousands of store owners and clerks at risk of prosecution.
If he wants to push limits, that's fine. It's wrong to drag other unsuspecting people along with him, that's where I disagree. That's just reckless.
The store owner is always the most likely for prosecution because the local DA is the one who files the charges and the definition of obscenity is interpreted by the local municipality i.e. what's legal in Texas is a felony in Utah.

While I believe that every distributor that bought the movie has been told about the fisting. I don't believe that evey store has also been told. My friends store gets a fax every day from their distributor that lists each title they've received, the theme of the movie (which is either very generic, or the tag line from the DVD box) and the company who released it. My friend writes in the quantity of each title that he wants to buy and faxes it back to the distributor.
Unless there is "Fist" in the title or in the tag line on the DVD, he would never know that there is fisting in the movie.

It depends on the distributor. I get sheets from several distributors a day. Some just have titles and others will give me quite a lot of information about the movie. Your friend needs to shop around. Also the bigger distributors will help a store out in a legal battles over product they supplied.
BTW, people seem to wonder WHY firsting is considered obcene and illegal in various communities. What I have read, and which makes sense to me, is that once upon a time it was considered solely a lesbian act, and thus was part of efforts to make homsexuality illegal (I suspect it might be the same thing with oral sex, which may have been considered solely something that gay men did to each other). The times have changed, and so have many of the laws, but I think there's still a ways to go.

Each company has to weigh on if they think it is worth the risk of the obscenity prosecution. If sites didn't vary you wouldn't see any because not every company wants to take the added prosecution risk.

Canadian customs regs on fisting are oddly specific, from what I've read it's okay as long as it's not too 'violent.' So I think the issue with fisting is that it is associated with pain/S&M.
