One of the greatest DVD's of last year and one of the sexiest, It kind of seems AVN overlooked DP's amazing IF4.

+1. I think "Island Fever 4" was the best sexvid of 2006. The best looking female cast ever, fantastic locations, great photography, very erotic sex scenes.

I was glad the four girl lickfest got an award.

That said, IMO the industry will alway pick what it considers "hardcore" over product that focuses on beauty and sensuality. So "Island Fever 4" may not get AVNs, but it appears to be selling very well.

What else do you think it should have won / been nominated for?

It could have won:
Best DVD
Best Marketing
Best Couples (Jesse & Scott; Teagan & you-name-him)
Best Tease (Jana Cova)

I could go on...

Well, with all respect to Evil Angel, Island Fever 4 SHOULD have won best hi-def production. Fashionistas Safado wasn't even anamorphically enhanced for it's DVD release, and I've heard no word of EA planning to offer it on HD DVD or Blu-ray anytime soon (Island Fever 4 will be coming on HD DVD soon).

I liked the movie, but to be fair looking at its competition...

The marketing of Island Fever 4 didn't come close to that of The Visitors or Britney Rears 3 .

As for the sex, I think I said it best in my review (with emphasis added to note the main reason I don't think it deserved best sex scene):

As for best DVD... Was it a well done DVD, without a doubt! Best DVD, however, might be a a little strong when compared to the competition. I loved the commentary (one of the best of the year, in my opinion) and the extras are a lot of fun. When in the commentary you have the cast cracking jokes about problems with the video one can't help but notice it a little more. Whether it works for you or not is one thing, but looking at it from a technical perspective it is a weakness that the competition might not have had (which I really can't say as I haven't watched either of the winners in the all-sex release category where this probably would have fallen).

It's best chance would probably have been for best DVD extras, as there was a lot of effort put into them and they were very entertaining. The Visitors won, and I think that it would be a very tight race between them. In my mind the tiebreaker between the extras on the two DVDs would be the effort put into the menus and style of the entire extras DVD for The Visitors was tailored completely to the movie while the menus and style on Island Fever 4 was fairly standard for a Digital Playground release and didn't really feel special in any way.

So yes, it was a good movie and a well done overall release, when compared to a lot of other releases put out last year I just don't think it was well done enough to call itself "best".

While I may disagree that IF4 should have won I do not disagree that Fashionistas should NOT have won. It just goes to show how little the people at AVN actually know about HD.

I DO agree that when it comes to HD DP is the best. period.

I agree, DP seem to really know how to use the technology while most other studios i've seen are struggling. It's clear from watching any of there (recent) videos that they have some very skillful and knowledgable "technical people" employed.
