I bet this question has crossed our minds at some point. Being XXX fans. Asking ourselves what drove the girls to XXX? Were they always a bit hornier than the average girl (no slutty)? Where they the little girls we might have known when we were little too that would lift their skirts? Either already knowing it was wrong or not knowing but having that urge to expose themselves to boys?

I mean there have been XXX videos where the camera guy would ask them..."What got you into XXX?". You'd either get a BS answer "...I like sex (which sometimes might not be BS...migh have something to with it)". Rarely are they blatantly honest if the reason wasn't a good one "...I needed the money...". In no video have I come across any porn chick breaking down...going on about how they were kicked out and needed to eat. had no other job skills.

Randy Spears. 80's male porn legend admitted decades later he was broke. Didn't want to do it. Was in tears. Recalling how his family turned their backs on him because he became a XXX "actor".

I suppose some ARE into having sex in front of a camera knowing they are exciting strangers. A kind of power trip. Then knowing they would later be feature dancers at strip clubs. Guys wanting them even more knowing they are XXX stars and that in the club they are a few feet from the actual XXX star of their dreams. But can't touch...unless a "lap dance". Where they can only touch the guys..usually. I'm sure some have gone home with the guys if they offered enough money. Some become escorts. Most. Able to ask $13k /hr. E.g. Keisha-80's XXX star...

None look like they were forced..that I've seen.

Geraldo Reivea used to have strippers and XXX stars on his show back in the day. Love to see some one do the same in 2020. See if the XXX stars aren't more honest. Tell us how it might be different today. What drove them to XXX?

Very few are forced in the literal meaning of that word, but like any job people do it because they make money from it. Some jobs require less formal training and you get the money quicker. Porn and sex work more broadly fall into that category. If I urgently needed to pay rent, there are few jobs that would pay me enough and pay quickly. Sex work can provide that.

Other reasons I have discovered from interviews and memoirs:

* tickets to Coachella (Ashley Blue)
* to piss off mum and dad
* to pay for a drug habit
* because why not? (either because they are super punk rock or because they are already living in a counterculture situation--a runaway or whatever. This is how I would classify Sharon Mitchell and Jeanne Silver)
* they are an exhibitionist
* they got sick of working minimum wage in a job that was emotionally and physically taxing
* they knew someone who did it, and thought they would be good at it
* they enjoyed watching porn and thought they would be good at it
* they were in an abusive relationship and that person encouraged them to do porn (and then took a percentage--aka. a suitcase pimp)
* they enjoy and respect sexual performance/art
* they grew up in a family that did sex work and continued the family tradition
* they idolized a performer
* they were stripping and met porn performers who were feature dancing and decided to give porn a try (Stormy Daniels and many others)
* they were already escorts and wanted to increase their economic value by branding their name
* they wanted to become mainstream famous (this is more common back in the day, but nowadays performers may believe they can initiate a crossover into social media stardom)
* they identify as a feminist and/or sexual radical and want to prove a point

That's all I have off the top of my head. There are assuredly many more, as with any sector of work.
