I found an article while browsing which gives a hint on why we like rough porn. Quote from The article "repressed emotion is the main reason behind bizarre rough porn. The people who repress more tend to like rough and bizarre porn. Seeing someone suffer makes them happy, this is because of the suffering they carry themselves. They want to see more people in suffering which let them feel good of themselves." It seems right for me. Do you have some thoughts on why men like rough porn?
I could see that. I didn't read the whole article, just the quote you gave us. I definitely don't want to throw everybody into that category, but in general I agree. I think I repress a lot of emotion and it can release some of those emotions for me, it's like a work out with a friend, so to speak. I do kinda disagree with the enjoying seeing someone in pain is pleasurable for myself. It's not so much enjoying someone else suffering, but the release of some pressure and aggression. I would guess some do like the thought of abuse and some just the emotion that comes forth. I like seeing the limits getting pushed. I personally don't like someone being destroyed by decision that they had no control of. I'm not going to over analyze this because I do think it's different for most. In general I can see it being true for myself.
Beware of generalizations. I suspect that if you asked my friends and family who repressed emotion the most they'd all point at me. Guess what, I hate rough porn. Of course, the true believers will tell you that anal sex is 'bizarre rough porn.' So explain why I'm much happier when the woman is enjoying the hell out of it.
We love to see the porn actor who pulls his dick from the ass of of the girl and give it to her mouth, and we get happier of his cock have some dirt on it. We become more happier if the girl is reluctant to take the cock dipped in shit. We get more and more happier when she cry out of abuse. if the weep is genuine, mooore happiness! Some of us love to see women enjoying it, but many like to see her expressions on abuse. That's why rough sells more than gentle? right? Don't blame porn industry for this, they produce what public needs.
I don't like to see women being abused at all, so I can't agree, I love rough sex and S&M but only when I can see that she is really loving it, if she looks like she is in pain, or just feeling awful about it, I get a little disturbed and feel sorry for her, so there is a big difference, some of us just really like instense sex, that's really all there is to it
@ gulhavia, I think you have got it in one, can't think of any other words or any other way of putting it that would answer the question any better than you have.
I suppose shinebox101 and barfly are women. Women may not get what men feel. Cant you see discussion here in the theme 'Dirty ATM'? Why we like dirt in it? We like to see the pain and suffering. We like to see the reluctance in the girls face when she smell it. We enjoy it. I don't think many can oppose this with an open mind. We like to see someone in pain. Nothing more. Just investigating our own behavior.
Who is "We?" Or did you mean to say "While browsing you found an article that gives a hint on why "YOU" like rough porn?" What exactly do you consider "Rough Porn?" I am just mildly curious.
I love when people who have never opened a psychology book talk about "repressed emotions" and other dribble they heard on TV to make up bullshit theories. Wait, no, actually I think it's fucking stupid.

Why don't we take a look at the first sentence on the home page of this site: "Welcome to quitporn.net. We are the people (Including you) who fight against our porn addiction." This just shows me that the authors of this site are clueless. So far as I know, true mental health professionals (i.e. people who are interested in the science of the brain as opposed various morality based pseudosciences) do not recognize any such addiction. There´s definitely no such thing in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, which is the accepted criteria for diagnosis. Rather, issues people might have with porn is, more than anything else, a symptom of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Either way, I´m not trying to sidetrack the thread. I´m simply making the point that this site, its authors, and its content are about as credible as a preacher with his dick in a sheep, a golden idol in one hand, and an earmarked, signed copy of a Dawkins book in the other. As far as why people like the rough stuff, I´m sure there are various reasons that may or may not be indicative of real emotional problems. Best as I can tell, I´m a relatively healthy person and I quite like a well-made, rough-sex scene with performers who enjoy it and shows.
Just rough porn? I am an adamant supporter of purchasing artistic material, however, somebody mentioned a certain sexual act I have never heard of and I typed it into google, clicked a link, and there it was. A full scene of what I was looking for for free. I did not go looking for free porn, but on the same token all I did was kick back and click and the stuff came up.
It's that Dr. Phil bullshit. That moron did more quacking than any porn chick did choking on cock. By the way, I've "got it bad" because I believe well over 90% of psychology is quackery and sophisticated mind control. Edited by - randomprecision on 7/16/2010 12:19:57 PM
For the love of God, speak for yourself. A lot of people who have a certain behavior assume that everybody else is like them. I and many others enjoy seeing 'rough' sex not to see suffering but to see an incredibly attractive girl do nasty stuff that she is into. If what you are saying is correct then there would be no limits, we would all be into Max Hardcore or Meatholes. But there is always one crucial aspect, and that is if the girl is enjoying it herself. If she is "suffering" then I do not get off on it at all, it becomes disturbing instead. If YOU or others say you like to see real pain I suggest you to get some real help. Remember, many serial killers started out with violent porn, and when that didn't satisfy them anymore it got real nasty.
I don't know if they did or not. I guess I'll just take your word for it. But I would hypothesize that those who did (assuming they did) blame it on porn would have blamed it on anything they thought would garner some sympathy and deflect some of the blame in some other direction besides squarely at them. Of course, they always have the full cooperation of people who believe them (And want to) and I guess that's comforting to them in some small way. Edited by - randomprecision on 7/16/2010 2:52:43 PM
Its funny to hear when you say adult industry produce rough scenes just to show nastiness. Nastiness is there but I guess the basic idea behind rough scenes is to show the male dominance and abuse. Porn director try to get the girl as degraded as possible (its only up to the girl that how much she want to bend, Porn director and industry like her to see as much destroyed as possible). Can you please describe the psychology (or mentality) behind ATM? or dirty ATM? What you think when the girl smell the dick and say 'wow, what a smell.. I love the smell..I want to clean it..' ? Is she says it from inside with interest or she does it because of the script? And yes, Many of us are not serial killers only because we love ourselves. We don't want to go to Jail. We don't want to disturb our comfort zones. We are not killing not just by the reason that we love all and we want to see all happy. You may not notice this consciously, But unconsciously its true. at least for some degree. Quentin Tarentino made a hit on this theme. In 'Hostal' he just shown what we need next to rough porn. And the film was a hit. The same theme is used in the movie 'American Psycho'. Edited by - gulhavia on 7/18/2010 9:59:38 PM

No judgement was intended in my comment, just a observation, I like vanilla and rough-sex or S/M porn as well depending on my mood. I notice that it's become a truism that porn is getting rougher and rougher, when the really I've noticed a decline in the mainstream gonzo producers. I think rough sex porn is returning to a niche, where it is probably better off for those who 'get' it, and a much better-made niche than in the past as well I might add.
I can go into any adult movie store blindfolded wearing metal mittens and pick out a production that is more interesting to watch than anything Tarantino has been involved in.
Like you said, it's the director's goal at times to degrade the girl as much as possible, thinking it will sell more for your type of buyers. But it doesn't mean that folks like me get off on a girl's "suffering". Again, you keep thinking that your own behavior and preference applies to everybody else as well. Like ATM. I'm not even into that so I wouldn't know. Also, you may be right that they are acting most of the time, but fantasy is a big part of why I watch porn, and perhaps I want to believe it's real sex and that she is enjoying it and into it while you and others hope that the girl is suffering a traumatic experience. That may be the diffirence here.
Naturally you run into semantics here, but as I said before, I like something that seems "real" rather than some pancake made-up girl with her mouth in a perfect O making rythmic grunting sounds for the camera. Sometimes amateur casting movies like Ed can get there with an innocent first time cutie. Other times gagging or Max or something seems the only other way to break through "acting'. I guess if girls could shoot semen I'd find it more believable, lol....
Prove it. My feeling is that whatever made them serial killers started in their own heads much earlier than most of the serial killers of the recent past could have reasonably been expected to have been watching porn. And even if watching porn was something they engaged in later on, they had impulses that went way beyond anything they could get in even the roughest porn. Rough porn isn't made for serial killers. It's made for people who like rough sex and humiliation. The line between those types of people may be fuzzy to you (And indeed there may be some close ties between the extremes of the latter and those of the former) but it is there and you're insulting a whole lot of people with this kind of nonsense. It is more likely (If you believe that people truly are motivated by anything they see, hear or read) that many serial killers have found early inspiration in things they saw on plain old G-Rated TV (Including cartoons). That is what young minds have had the most access to since the middle of the last century. Edited by - randomprecision on 7/19/2010 3:32:06 PM
OK. Here, I have no real issues with what you're saying. This is a big problem with all porn. The market for all types of kink and fetish content combined is probably much larger than the market for plain old vanilla fucking (Which I'm not disparaging). Unfortunately, as long as money is an issue, a lot of stuff that (I think most of us could agree) would be better off cordoned off in it's own discrete (And easily identifiable) category is going to turn up in more mainstream types of porn. Because these smaller niches are not usually profitable enough to stand on their own but they do bring in customers who just aren't generally satisfied with vanilla sex. I think most directors are just assuming that most people have some kind of fetish or kink so they throw a little bit of everything they can think of into mainstream porn in the hopes of luring in the most people for a given movie (Or site). That's the bottom line, right? When you're running a business, you don't really care what your customers like as long as they can find it at your shop. You just find out what you need and stock it. You might think that guy who comes in at 2 PM every weekday and buys junk food is a slob but you'll sell him his slop with a smile just the same. This guy might be the only one who buys pork rinds from your store and he checks the dates so you stock just enough so it doesn't sit there on the shelf for a decade. It's not personal. It's just business (as they say). So you must really think of "mainstream porn" today as kind of a general store only you can't really pass on the things you don't want the way you can in the real general store that has a little bit of everything. You will invariably end up seeing things you don't care for. Really, most fetishists are not nearly as happy to go to a general store to get their stuff as the customers for other types of goods are. Do you really think the guy who only gets off specifically on rough sex wants to see perhaps an hour of vanilla stuff (Or what he defines as vanilla) surrounding it? That guy would be content to go buy an ultra hardcore product made specifically for what he likes. Specialty customers usually prefer specialty products (And specialty producers) so they're probably not any happier with having their stuff mixed in with yours than you are. What I am trying to do is to analyze our own behavior. You maybe a different kind of person. But from the movies the industry produce, we get a fair idea about what customers (WE) want. and we like that also. If customers want vanilla, they get it, but they need something else. I am not telling the pornstars are suffering when acting. Ofcource they are not suffering, they are acting. But they act in a way which make us perceive that they suffer. as I told earlier, more natural the act is, more we like it. In this point, I discuss about our behavior and why we like rough porn. why our fantasies go into this way? is it not by our 'repression'? as the article said? Or something else? I just thought this is an interesting topic and as somebody said sometime, "Discussion reveals the truth". May this discussion give us the truth about this subject. This is a subject that PHD students of psychiatry and humanities may like.
it is due to sheer amount of energy it makes you release. Women like it often too. Men are instinctively dominant a woman have a craving for someone get over them by force. Once in a while, any woman will ask you to "fuck the hell out of her". Women in the declining age of fertility 30-40 years tend to love rough encounters more.. It all happens in the brain you know!

Commonsense is what needs to be confirmed more than anything else, as that phrase is usually just a synonym for lazy thinking, stereotyping and prejudice. You actually believe that the market magically gives people exactly what they want?
Its commonsense that market produce what people wants. Market create products based on 'What sells'. No market will produce products that does not sell. It evolve itself with the products the people needs and wants most. Is this not commonsense? And by seeing porn releases and watching the scenes, I am pretty sure that 'rough' and ATM is what most men want to see. This is not prejudice, but FACT. but I don't find a market research stats report to show you. But no stats needed for me to understand what is 'actual'. commonsense is enough

+1 to the point you're trying to make here, BlackSix. Common sense is verifiable, but it doesn't stand on it's own as a means of proving anything to be a universal truth. The ideas of supply and demand only go so far. One has to take into account the marketplace itself, the marketing of the product, and availability. Even statistics on sales and such aren't reliable. If I used the statistics I've seen at a previous job (a VERY big VOD company) I could conclude that everyone in the world wants to watch gay men fuck. I know that's not the case and the general reasons for it. Either way, gulhavia, your making an argument here that is based purely on perceived, anecdotal evidence and frankly, I ain't buying it. No one with any real interest in the truth would either.
There haven't been many answers to the question in the subject line. gulhavia has answers that evidently make sense to him (or her, I guess you never know) but also has an unfortunate habit of writing as if everyone feels the same way and likes the same rough porn he likes. I don't like rough porn in the sense of abuse or ATM. I rented a couple of Max Hardcore movies years ago and they made my dick limp. Yes, I like that 'pushing the limits' thing up to a point; I like DPs and gangbangs as part of the overall porn menu. But ATM just seems juvenile and I don't want to see anyone feeling traumatised. In the vein of 'rough sex' I do like intensity. I like seeing a wonderfully hot woman shagging her brains out and her male partner/s doing the same. I love it if they do that and she smiles in astonishment at just how wild she and he/they are getting. I want to see her transported to ecstasy by the intensity, not to misery. As for gulhavia's argument that it's obvious 'we' like rough abusive sex because that's what sells - not around my place it isn't, obviously. If you check an online store like Adult Video Universe they have a best seller chart, so you can take that as one option if you want to gauge what really sells. Here's their all-time top 20: 1. Jenna In The Middle 2. Award Winning Sex Scenes # 2 3. Pirates 4. Taboo 5. Taboo # 2 6. Debbie Does Dallas 7. Don't Tell Daddy: 10 Pack 8. Babysitters 9. Behind The Green Door 10. Super Size Meat 11. Looking In 12. 1001 Erotic Nights # 1 13. Girls Eat Girl 14. Deep Throat 15. Super Blondes Of Vivid 16. Snow White & 7 Dwarfs 17. Office Girls 18. Never Ending Lesbians: 6 Pack 19. Fresh Teen Ass # 1 - 5: 5 Pack 20. Breast Obsessed Too: 4 Pack I don't think any of those is a 'rough porn' movie. Perhaps a few have some rough scenes, but not that I could say for sure. But maybe that list is conservatively skewed because it includes older results. Perhaps it's more recently that 'we' have honestly bought what 'we' really want, so current chart results will show that. Here's their current top 20: 1. Insideher Trading: 4 Pack 2. Asian Booty 3. Double Time - 4 Pack 4. Massive Facials # 2 5. 1001 Erotic Nights # 1 6. Babysitters 7. Vista Valley PTA 8. Batman XXX: A Porn Parody 9. Big Tits Round Asses # 17 10. Big Booty Stars 11. White Chicks & Big Black Dicks Gang Bang 12. Lesbian Seductions Older/Younger # 32 13. Squirt Gushers - 5 Pack 14. Big Wet Asses # 17 15. Double Takes 4 Hours 16. Taboo 17. Juicy: 4 Pack 18. Cats Meow - 4 Pack 19. Jenna In The Middle 20. Behind The Green Door Cream pies at 1, DPs at 3, facial hosing at 4 and gang bang at 11. Is that 'rough sex'? I don't think cream pies or facial hosings really qualify as rough. I guess you can have the dominance aspect of facials, but then again, this movie has the girls coming while getting a jizz shower, which doesn't seem to indicate miserable subservience. I think the white chicks and black dicks gang bang would be the closest to a rough/dominance theme in these twenty. I've got Double Time and recommend it for about twenty very hot DPs, but not if you want to see male domination and female misery. There are a few scenes where the girl doesn't seem particularly involved, but none where she seems to be getting abused. Too many of the girls just keep damn well enjoying themselves, dammit. Shy Love seems to come about fifteen times and won't let the guys quit. So no, I see no evidence that rough sex, dominance, miserable women or abuse has any great appeal. As a theme it doesn't register anywhere near as strongly as lesbians, couples movies or golden days classics. I think it's safe to bet that a lot of those choices are being made with women in mind. If gulhavia is right that men want rough sex and abuse, the men buying at this store care more about their woman liking the porn than their own misogyny.
