Look, porn can be artful, educational, and just for jacking off. We already have a ton of educational porn out there. And what are you even saying no to?
to do that you should not care at all for: lights, positions for the camera, look of the performers. That's what a lot of amateur porn is I guess. Personally I care for good lights, look of performers, good camera angles (so performers have to care for the camera) and I don't care if it's not the average sex a normal couple would have usually. I don't have anything against the fact that you like a different thing, I mean there are so many niches. But that's exactly why I struggle to understand the idea that all porn should change, since people like different things.

what? you don't believe in foreplay in porn? Me asking for porn that has some type of intimacy is bad now? what are you talking about? I'm not asking for the adult for the industry to be responsible for peoples viewing habits, I'm asking for something more from our porn.

I'm not arguing that all porn should change or that the industry should stop doing the porn you like. The question was "Why you should question the Kind of you porn watch". I would like if porn that is more women-centric and looks more like real couples having sex was more mainstream. Also, I like stuff from studios like Deeper, Blacked, and Vixen. Back in the days I also was a fan of Evil Angel, Dogfrat, and other hardcore gonzo studios. Amateur porn is now made with better lighting, camera angles and hotter women then a couple of mainstream videos.

I haven't read the article, but I've read the quotes on the thread. I think the point that the author is missing is that I (and I'm sure there are many like me) don't want to watch porn that resembles my real sex life. I don't necessarily want all body types, etc. I want to see hot chicks. I can get average women in real life. I don't want to see condoms, even though I overwhelmingly practice safe sex in real life. I don't want to see real intimacy or real loving relationships in porn, though I crave these things in real life.
For me, porn is about fantasy. I may want to try a few things I see in vids a few times, but I don't ever think porn is going to reflect my real every day (I wish) sex life. I think that the author, and many others who write commentary on porn really believe that we want to gangbang our wives and girlfriends with 3 or 4 other guys or have sex with our teenage stepdaughters. For most of us I don't think that's the case at all.

Cockold and gangbangs are real things couples do. I've been to swinger clubs and helped set up a couple of gangbangs back in my day. So, yes, there a lot of husbands that would like to see their wives get fucked by 5 black guys.

Hmmm. I've never experienced anything like that. Do guys need a hot chick to get involved in those clubs?

I used to go swinger clubs with my wife and we're not pornstar hot or anything. Most swingers clubs allow single guys in but you have to pay an extra charge and you need to know a couple. It matters where you go but most of the women are not supermodels. I live in the midwest, so the women are midwest America hot.

Watch Makelovenotporn.com - then you'll get the kind of real sex you so desire to watch. I read the article, sexuality isn't a construct although it is fluid. If it were a construct, then there should be nothing but heterosexual males and females covering the earth. Instead you have heterosexual, homosexual, transexual etc. Hell you have INTERSEX people - you going to call a someone with a vagina and testicles where her ovaries would normally be a construct?? Give me a break, should we question everyone who has seen Terminator or Highlander or a horror movie like Friday the 13th? No, because most of us have common sense and we don't believe we can punch through a window with a fist feeling no pain, we don't think we can behead someone to take their power with lightning involved. I've yet to meet a fan of the Terminator franchise who has thought about even trying to shoot up an entire police station. We watch movies to escape, porn to get off - for fantasy. Porn shouldn't have to become sex education, that's asking way too much of it.

This is mostly how I feel as well. I have sexual fantasies like everyone else, that's why I watch porn. But when I'm being realistic I probably don't want to do a lot of the things they do in real life, at least not on a regular basis. As an example, i don't really want to be one of the guys in a gangbang. What does a bunch of other guys having sex with the woman do for me. But I watch plenty of gang bangs in porn. It's the extreme, the fantasy, the forbidden fruit, if you will.
I was watching an interview with Nina Hartley and someone asked where do you usually have sex. Her answer was, to paraphrase, "95% of the time in a bed. It's just more comfortable.". I found that to be a very reasonable and realistic answer. Sure, when watching a vid all of the sexual gymnastics is exciting and keeps it from becoming boring, but real life is different from fantasy. I think most of us know the difference between pornographic sex and real life intimacy.

Most performers would pick a bed over a hard floor or small couch. I wish more scenes were on an actual bed too. Most couples try out sexual fantasies with each other ( I have with my wife) and most of the sex positions in porn can be done at home. I think when I ask for porn be more real, I'm talking about stuff like foreplay, actual licking the clit for more than a second, not spending 20 minutes on a BJ, and doing nothing to the woman other than another 20 minutes of hard pounding. 20 minutes of ass licking doesn't produce an orgasm most likely but licking the clit does. Actual doing something that would actually get a woman off, even if it's not a real orgasm, make it look real. What's wrong with having scenes where both stars are comfortable and doing positions that are comfortable for both. RL sex isn't all boring missionary positions or is it all soft and slow sex. You can still have rough sex and do stuff like keeping eye contact with your partner.

There's noting wrong with what you want in porn but it doesn't sell and ultimately PROFIT drives everything. Have you seen AbbyWinters? They feature the sex of which you speak, it's just not exciting at least for me to watch, I'm saying that as someone who has bought and paid for a number of their DVDs years ago. You go get a membership, watch what they have to offer and see if that gets you off. Speaking personally for myself, it didn't get the job done for me when compared to the offerings of others.

As someone who's been watching and paying for porn since the '90s. I was never really into mainstream porn at all, I always liked amateur porn and did get into some of the gonzo stuff with Evil Angel but I'm just not into that stuff anymore. My taste has changed over the years. I understand people like me aren't the ideal market for mainstream porn but we shouldn't be ignored.
I have heard of AbbyWinters and GirlsOutWest both are great sites. I also like sites like pinklabel.tv, Crashpad, LustCinema, XConfessions, DeepLush, HardWerk,Kink.com, MissaX, Score, Deeper, Sensational Video, Siren XXX and stuff from Adulttime Bree Mills is a director who films porn the way I'm talking about, along with Erika Lust. I like the hardcore stuff too sometimes, it's just not all I watch. And sometimes I just watch porn for the stories.
I don't understand the point of the article. It seems to state
1: the majority of porn is made for consumption by men, it's unrealistic, doesn't offer any educational value, and offers little pleasure for the women making the movies.
2: all types of porn exist, including different body shapes, genders etc. so if you don't like mainstream porn, then you can find your likes in this space
So, in summary, men like the porn produced for them, despite the fact it's as fantastical as lord of the rings. And couples porn, amateur porn, gay porn etc covers the porn needs of others.
If you like kissing, or cuddling or whatever, and that's not shown in mainstream porn, doesn't that just mean you should look elsewhere?
Probably didn't need an article. Unless I'm missing something.

You are right. The author was there to sell her book on women's pleasure. Nothing to do with porn. Vice had a conversation with her about porn and put up a clickbait title. It worked.

I don't believe porn warps your sexuality or sexual needs. If that was true, I would actually like anal sex after watching tons of Evil Angel vids. At most porn has made me more aware of my kinks and fetishes. I've watched gay porn and transgender porn and am still not really into transwomen and I'm not gay.
