I am from the UK and am wondering if i mail order porn DVD's from America will they work ok on my laptop PC. I noticed that many of the best titles are only about $20-$25 and sometimes less.

In the UK the same title is around £30 which must be about $45. I do not want to keep wasting money if i can get them cheaper from the US.

Please help,

Anna.

The simple answer is a qualified yes.

There are two mitigating factors, both of which can be handled very efficiently on the computer and can also be handled with set-top DVD players & televisions as long as you know what is happening.

DVDs are often sold region-or-code-free but are more often sold to be played in specific world-geographical regions. In addition there are multiple TV broadcast standard formats (NTSC in the USA and a few other countries, PAL and/or SECAM elsewhere).

See: Multi-Format & Code-Free DVD Players

On a computer it is possible to program the software to be any region code and, depending on your software, it may be possible to defeat the region code system completely. In addition, most computer based DVD software can handle multiple broadcast standard formats with ease; so the NTSC/PAL/SECAM thing should not be a problem.

Thanks for your help GaySatyr.

I dont have a DVD player so im not looking to play them on my TV. I have only just got a new computer and it runs both mainstream and porn DVD's perfectly, but all have been ordered from inside Europe, none from the states. I think most of them say they are playable worldwide.

So they will play without any extra software on a computer?

You computer should have everything it needs to play porn videos. You may have to fiddle with region settings for non-porn videos.

Anna,
Your laptop should play US(NTSC) and European(PAL) dvd's without problem. As you already play dvd's on your machine you must have the player software PowerDVD, WinDVD or equivalent and need nothing more.

All you need now is to stock up on some US imports and this is the place to start shopping around for the best prices.

Anna,

Welcome to the forum.

ANY retailer I have dealt with have always shipped in a discreet manner. It makes sense to keep it that way. If they had large pics or semi-clad ladies on the outside of the package they would only be asking for troubles for themselves, and run into all sorts of customs problems.

Not to mention half the postal clerks would steal 'em and then the customer would be bitching for a replacement or refund..

Anna,
All retailers use discreet packaging with no indication of the contents unless you open the package. Some retailers will even ship without the plastic box so it's even more discreet.

The retailers I use these days having tried most are:
US Shopping
Lasersedge cheap shipping and used by many International ADT members. Good if you only order single titles
Fivestar another top retailer and they will ship without the box.

Euro Shopping
Erodvd Low prices for an Euro retailer, ships without boxes

The above should give you a few pointers as to good retailers. If you need more info just ask or check out the International Shopping forum.

Hi Anna.

I too live in the UK AND live with Parents "sigh"

so i use www.fivestardvd.com and use a shipping method called "Global Priority Letter"
This means the DVD and Insert is shipped in a plain envelope and the Case is not sent.
that way its discreet and gets to UK in 3-5 days

But anywhere you order, they are all discreet, so you shouldn't have any problems.
I have over 50 porn DVDs that where all bought online from various US shops.
I can safetlly say, just order 1
I use www.adultdvdtalk.com to search for a good price also for reviews.

Hope This Helps
