I recently bought Stuffin' Young Muffins 8 and was pissed to see a watermark throughout the film. What really depresses me is that the movie was good and I would likely keep the DVD to watch it again. But a watermark means it gets the trash. It aggravates me that I spent my money on this film when I could have bought from another studio that doesn't have watermarks. I noticed that I had a couple other movies from New Sensations on my to buy list. I took those movies off the list: I'll never buy from New Sensations again. I hope the studio goes bankrupt for wasting my money.
Using a waterwark is soooooooooo 2002. I also don't want to see watermarks being used because they always get in the way of the action! It's a good thing I never buy NS movies but I do buy movie from Digital Sin but I haven't seen their new stuff so I'm not sure if they use watermarks or not.
Thank pirating for the widespread use of watermarks. If copyrights were just universally respected then there would be no need. Sadly thats not the case....do you watch online porn at all lol.
I despise watermarks but have found a way around having to see them - other than not watching watermarked porn. I use Media Player Classic (a free video player) to watch watermarked dvds. I adjust the screen so that the watermarks are not present. It is a little tricky and a hassle at first, but I set custom hot keys to make the job easier. I believe that this technique is perfectly legal and acceptable for sharing here because I am not modifying the actual video. However, I am not a lawyer or a moderator. I have experimented with other methods (i.e. cropping) but this method seems easiest and has the least amount of degradation in quality because I do not have to decompress and re-compress the file. Two issues that I am still working on: 1. Streaming internet porn into Media Player Classic. 2. Connecting my laptop to my 1080p HDTV. 2. should be simple; I just need to buy the right equipment and hook things up correctly. 1. may not be as easy, but I am hoping that I will get help if I ask the right person. I would never have joined Brazzers if I had not been able to figure out ways of not looking at watermarks. I also stopped buying RLD and NS/DS until I figured this out. Let me know if you have any techniques.
Can't say the watermarks bother me. Digital sin does have its logo bottom right too. I like New Sensations stuff too much anyway. Stuffin' Young Muffins 8 is one of my favorite movies, it has a great Lexi Belle scene and an even better one from the now retired Ellie Idol.
If you think watermarks are a problem just wait till years down the line and the girls will have temporary tattoos of whatever company they are working for on strategic parts of there body...now what a nightmare that would be.

Watermarks don't bug me at all. Way back a few years ago, there was a huge thread and controversy on Jules Jordan using a watermark and I was on the side saying he shouldn't use one, that it degraded the quality of the product, etc. But these days I could really care less. It doesn't bug me one bit.
New Sensations/Digital Sin, and Scott Taylor, President, are first-rate. Perhaps a letter to Scott explaining your dislike of watermarks would achieve better results than a personal boycott. Good people can make mistakes. I find watermarks annoying too. Let Scott know how important this is to you.

Let's see, pretty girls, pretty naked girls, pretty naked girls getting banged...and what you notice is the watermark on the screen? You have problems, my friend if all it takes is a watermark to distract you from watching porn. Unless the watermark is over the entire image, I don't even notice it.
This is one big reason why I prefer to rent TV shows on DVD from Blockbuster or Netflix. I pay for the lack of advertising. I enjoy watching the show without interruption and without logos displayed or flashing up on the screen. But with Stuffin' Young Muffins 8 I paid for the DVD and then get a watermark throughout the film. A waste of my money.
I've never pirated a DVD. Hollywood movies don't have watermarks. Pirated movies are a fact of life, the same way that parasites are a fact of life too (i.e., entities feeding off others at the host's expense). Do what you can to combat piracy, but don't ruin the product for those that purchase it legitimately.
I don't feel like this would accomplish anything. Obviously the guy is not a fan of the product. If he was he wouldn't have put a watermark on it. He's likely in it just for the buck, hence the addition of a watermark, something that provides marginal protection at best from pirating.
As an IAFD moderator, I've exchanged e-mails with Scott several times. He cares. BTW, I consider watermarks zero protection for whatever it's worth to you. Many other studios have tried and dropped watermarks already.
Digital Sin/New Sensations has released my favorite adult DVD's of the last 7 years... The watermark is hardly noticeable and certainly won't lead me to a boycott... They recently released two of the best compilations that I've bought in some time...I Love Jenny(Hendrix) and I Love Haley(Paige),and there is no way that I could've missed out on those...watermark or not(one of the discs is widescreen and the watermark is on the black part of the screen anyway)...
A couple of comments on watermarks: First - Max Hardcore(and possibly others) did in fact cover up action with the watermark so its a fact that a watermark can truly intrude. I don't believe he kept it for too long though but in a multiple person scene it definitely possible to block some action somewhere on the screen. Second - The arguement that it's only a little thing doesn't fly when you look at what happened to commercial TV. First we had little logos. Then we had one line reminders at the bottom. Then it grew to animated widgets running across the bottom 1/4 of the screen doing ads for the network with graphics and definitely distracting crap...crap that is in fact growing to where I've seen an ad take up a third of a screen while I'm trying to watch. In TV sports its worse with all of the stats and score boxes all over the screen the actual action is a limited view. Whatever is given up in space and annoyance is something you never get back.
i agree with the sports thing- all the crap on the bottom and/or side of the screen. but when i'm watching porn, the little logo in the bottom corner doesnt really bug me- unless its covering up something. it does happen once in a while, but its only for a second or two. i dont think its that big a deal, and if the the movie had girls i wanted to see, and the studio puts out good stuff, i certainly wouldnt stop buying/watching over it

Any DVD (porn or not) that I bought that had a watermark on it would go instantly back to the store for a refund, and I would never buy anything from that company again until I KNEW they had abandoned such a stupid practice.
I brought this exact topic up last October in this thread - New Sensations/Digital Sin using watermark on DVD's. So doesn't the bottom line for any company using watermarks come down to how much business they lose from customers who stop buying their product versus how much they fend off piracy, which I guess they figure (stupidly in my opinion) forces the pirate to purchase their product, thus bringing in sales. Thieves don't like to pay for things they want. So they don't and won't.
^In that other thread, Bramm from Brazzers posted his reason for using watermarks. He claims (and he may be right, I don't know) that there is a big problem with people posting your scene on their site and claiming it as their own. But they can't do that if there's a watermark. I'm not sure if I've ever really seen this happen. I mean those ***tube.com or tube***.com or similarly titled sites don't usually claim anything about the vids on them - they just use "hot blonde does anal" or some such title. I guess if it has a big New Sensations logo on it then it's clear which company released it. It would also make prosecution easier, when they do track down which sites are illegally posting a lot of their vids. "That's not yours!" / "Uh, dude, it has our watermark on it." / "Oh." The torrent stuff usually proudly proclaims the name of the DVD or website the scene came from, because that's the particular scene that people are searching for. So using a watermark here doesn't really change much, since the vast majority of the people who are downloading it already know which flick it came from. Although, they may not be aware of what company released that flick... so maybe if they download several scenes of girls they like and notice that they all come from New Sensations (because of the watermark), then after a while they might start following New Sensations, and become a "fan' of that company, perhaps eventually even buying their DVDs. At least, that's probably what New Sensations is hoping for, and maybe it does work that way sometimes. What I'm trying to say is that even though the watermark sucks, maybe it does help out the company both in tracking down who is using their stuff, and also "advertising" their stuff in a way, even to those downloading it illegally, as Bramm mentioned. And maybe the amount that it helps the company makes up for the amount it hurts them, with lost sales due to people who can't stand watermarks. So if you are one of those people, you might be SOL. Although I do agree with BigBobxxx, in that anyone who does have a problem with the watermarks ought to email New Sensations. They can't know that you hate it unless you tell them. When you guys are in charge of your own company and are tired of people pirating content and taking money away from you, feel free to decide to use watermarks or not. It's not a big deal, move on to something a little more important in your lives.
Mr. Hunter, Are you in the business? If so, please tell us who you are. What evidence do you have that watermarks benefit companies? Watermarks are a big deal to the OP and to several other posters in this thread.

Can you protect yourself from watermarks if rubbers are worn?
I do find watermarks annoying. I realise that some are small and the companies try to make them translucent, but no matter how I try to ignore them, I find it does affect my enjoyment of the movie. They are one of the factors I take into account when contemplating whether to buy a DVD. For example, I've just been considering buying the movie "Ashlynn Goes to College 3" (mainly because Kristina Rose is in it). I've gotta give credit to Den for his review, as he mentions at the top of the review that there is a watermark. Bottom line, unless the cast is really incredible, I won't be buying titles from New Sensations that have a watermark.
The first time these popped up on screen, I spent five minutes peering at the logo, saying things like "that's stupid" and "how annoying." And "How funny is it that Sin City thinks their stuff is worth protecting like this." (Or whoever it was.) Then it became no big deal like a minute later. A more pressing issue is when some idiot director decides to cover up the girl's face or ass with a potted plant--what the hell is that? The thing that totally pissed me off was when FOX baseball games started "painting" a new digital ad on the green backstop behind the hitter during EVERY SINGLE AT BAT a few years ago, because your eyes were drawn over to read it whether you wanted to or not because you were focused in on the strike zone, you know. That was a real pisser. Thankfully, they stopped after discovering how much all people on earth hated it. Watermarks on porn-o are more understandable & easier to overlook. If you have real problems with it, you may be a "method actor" masturbator who needs great realism in order to achieve wood, and the logo ruins your illusion. In order to overcome this I recommend putting yourself in the hands of researchers at your nearest university. You might even become the subject of someone's master's thesis while in effect receiving free therapy to combat this watermark phobia.
I too agree that watermarks can be easily ignored. It's like one of those pictures where there are two images in one. Just try to focus on the larger image. You'll soon be able to ignore the smaller image after that.
your right. go ahead ban new sensations!! so that the rest of us can buy it cheaper. for christs sake its a damn water mark its not like jesse jane bad acting for crying out loud.
This is one area where adult producers can probably emulate Hollywood a bit. The on screen advertising on network television has gotten completely out of hand, to the point where it looks like the only purpose for programing on the network is to promote other programing on the network. But the DVD versions of any program are without watermarks or on screen advertising of any kind. They (hollywood) does it to devalue any bootlegs and also to prove where the original source came from. That's an important aspect should legal action result. Just look at YouTube to find web 'reruns' of a ton of network programming. People copy television and repost it all the damn time. For me, I consider 'the web' my equivalent of 'broadcasting' and put my logo at the header and footer of all web based scenes, because of how easy it is to download a scene and then repost it. If someone's going to out right steal it from me at least I'm getting a bit of branding to go along with it. But the watermark doesn't stop the pirates, or even slow them down. I don't think any of us are that diluted to think a water mark will help stop pirates. But, my DVD's do not have those logos or any type of water mark, because I feel that the consumer has fairly paid for the product, and deserves to see it without my logo's and ads. - Marie Marie Madison Media
